    Hi All,

They are pushing me to get a host there, when I was/am booking offers. I don't have a host there at Aria. A Player Communications Specialist has contacted me for awhile in regards to complimentary stays. I, as with all others, have comped stays at Aria via corporate offers and I also have specific hotel offers as well. I'm not being a snob or anything, but should I try to get a someone with a "host" title or just start a relationship with this Player Communications Specialist, or that this person is technically a host? Thank you all!

Who are "they" that are pushing you to get a host?

The last couple times I called to book, VIP insisted on me getting a host and that i will be transferred to the dept. I declined both times. Now this Player Communications Specialist has been emailing with complimentary stays and has even called me. I'm currently staying at Aria right now. This rep has just called me again.

Not sure why you declined when they wanted to transfer you. No idea what this new title is, but sounds like it is doing the same thing for you.

The title sounds like it's probably similar to CETs layer of marketing reps, they do reach out and can book things, but usually nothing you can't do yourself, and they don't have the authority to do things a host can do.

VIP Services wants to link you to a host presumably because of your play level, and a host's job is to keep you happy and cultivate your play (and try to increase it).

If the offers you currently get are sufficient for your needs (ie. you don't want additional nights or have any special requests), then it's perfectly OK to continue to decline.

On the other hand, there's not much downside to having a host, except:

    1. If you're susceptible to feeling pressure to alter your play.

    2. MLife's web presence is so messed up most of the time, I would be a little worried that if I had a host, offers for that property would stop showing up in my account online. It doesn't mean the offers won't exist, it just means you'll always have to call or email to find out what's available. I don't recall reports of that happening recently, but it did happen to me a few years ago when I had a host at Mandalay Bay.

    3. Some hosts suck. Aria has a bit of a reputation for that, for smaller players. But there's a lot of turnover in those jobs, so it's changeable. You may get a great host.

I'm sure somewhere in the MLife terms and conditions, you give them permission to call, but if you don't want the calls, ask them to stop and use email only.

Thank you Chuck! BTW, is it the procedure now for them to take EC out before comping backend? I've never need to touch my EC's until recent trips.

My host (s), I've been MB since 03, have rarely used my EC, with the exception when I've gone overboard and had several suites, shows, fights, limos but that's only when I bring down my sons/friends/bff's daughters etc. She took $1000 of my EC the trip in March, but that's okay. Once a year is good for the 10 maybe trips I do. On a solo trip..she doesn't touch my EC, and comps everything I need. BUT...I'm wondering if they ARE starting to use EC a little more than before. I also have always had a floor host, one who comes and says hi, collects a $100 hug, is present at all the slotties I attend, is on the October cruise etc. You are not gonna find a Player Communication Specialist on the cruise with you in October. I do have one of those at Cosmo, but because I previously knew her at MB, we manage to have lunch when I stay there. But she's not a floor host. She does overcomp me tho at Cosmo,,,so I'm good.

I've gotten back end at MGM properties twice and they did not touch my Express Comps either time. But the most recent instance was two years ago and things can change.

Some of their offers include language that make it sound like the throw ins like resort credit and freeplay are based on them basically expecting you earn enough in ECs so that you're paying for it yourself. They don't seem to actually implement it that way, but they are definitely making some aggressive moves in a lot of financial areas lately, so you never know what's gonna happen.
