    My Trip Report

Wife decided I was stressed and suggested I go to Tunica, I thought Vegas was more in order and booked a flight 11 days out on Allegiant. Flew out Friday, August 23, returned Monday, August 26.

Flights were on time, both ways. No complaints, besides the 7:20 AM departure time coming home. I've flown them several times and guess I have been lucky, managing to avoid the 4 hour, or longer, delays that seems to happen to others.

Stayed at Aria, had an offer for two nights comped and $150 in FP, had to pay $81 + resort fee on Sunday night, but have plenty of express comps so was not worried.

Called Ted (from WI) before booking a lime with Presidential a week before coming. Ted was in WI when I called and returned my call a few hours later. He confirmed he would be back in LV that Friday and would see me at the designated time. Figured $50 extra for a limo was worth skipping the cab line on Friday afternoon, and always enjoy Ted. We bullshitted for five or ten minutes in the garage at the airport while we both got our nicotine fix. Skipped the cheap champagne as I had consumed a four vodkas on the flight and didn't want to cheapen my buzz.

Took a cab back to the airport, since 6 am was early for Ted.

Friday night, the airport seemed empty, the strip had no traffic, and there was nobody in the invited guest line. Told the clerk I wanted high floor, smoking king, and was rewarded with room 23227, which had a pool view with the MC, and MB in the background. The other side of the hallway to the room was glass, so had a view of Vdara that way. Room was clean, and the bellman had my bag to the room in under five minutes. Went down, got ice, and unpacked after mixing a tasty bloody mary.

Dining: Had plans to actually skip the room service this trip, but that didn't happen. I had three meals, grilled ham and cheese with potato salad (the salad was good), fish and chips (3 pieces, captains d's is $20 cheaper and better quality) and the Aria burger. The burger was the best of the three.

Bloody Marys: Besides my own, I found the ones at Monte Carlo to be the best of the four places I sampled. NYNY's sucked, I found it undrinkable. Bellagio's were pretty good, and spicy. I asked for extra spicy and she delivered. Aria's were decent. I will say that Aria makes a strong 7 and 7 at times.

Small World: Set out to get a Pinks chili dog at Pho. There was no place to sit, and since I didn't want chili all over me, wandered in to look at the line at Earl of Sandwich. It was a mile long so walked into the casino, decided it was to busy for my taste, and since I had forgotten my TR card, I turned around to head back. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed a hair cut that looked familiar, so walked over to the lady. Looking at her from the side, I say “I think I know you” She turned and I was correct, she rents a building from me right next door to my office. We both looked at each other and said “WTF' are you doing here, as we had smoked in the parking lot out back on Thursday and neither of us had mentioned we were going to Vegas. Dropped $100 there after getting at TR replacement card to restart the comped room train at CET, and headed back to Aria.

Gambled: Mostly at Aria, mostly $ machines, though did hit one bonus on a penny machine for $641 on a $2 bet. The five line $ machines I tend to play teased me all night Friday until it hit for $720. I seemed to have the best luck on a 9 line $ slot, though it sucks when you hit max bet by mistake ($45!) and it doesn't hit. Played a few $5 machines, best I could do on them was $250.

Walked down to NYNY, wasn't impressed with the casino, seemed to walk in circles. Enjoyed Bellagio, once I got away from the crowds near the front desk. MC didn't give me much play.

Hooker story: Sunday night, I actually was in the room by 8 PM, pretty much played out, and didn't want to dip into the tickets I had taken out of the machine. Set the alarm for 4:15 and fell asleep watching tv. About 2 AM, I thought I heard a woman scream, but couldn't be sure. Pretty soon I started to hear “oh God, don't stop” and more screaming. This went on for 45 minutes or so, then all was quiet for 5 minutes, and I heard the next door close. From the sounds of things, she should have paid him.

Ended up losing about $1500. Returned home and checked my tier status, and it turns out I'm only about 10K points away from Platinum......Looks like I'll be flying Allegiant again in about 3 weeks.

Thanks JPW, good report! I love bloody marys, so I'll have to try one at MC. I agree with you about the ones at NYNY.
Sorry you lost, but I consider "only" losing $1500 a win! Especially lately...:rolleyes2:

Thanks for the trip report. Losing only $1500 at Aria isn't bad at all. Funny that you ran into your neighbor like that.

Where the hell did you find a wife who suggests you go to a casino instead of STFU when you get bitchy with her?

    1. You have an awesome wife
    2. Too funny about the neighbor...we had the same thing happen at the Mirage only the female was much more vocal about what they were doing and what she wanted him to do. I'd say only in Vegas but the same thing happened to me in a SEATAC airport hotel I stayed in a few yrs back where I had a very early flight out. It became apparent very quickly that there were 3 people in the room and somebody was getting a pretty good workout:wink2:

Crap, my wife will never buy the stressed out story- I'm retired:wink2: I first read your report and thought that's a lot of stress, 11 days in Vegas:evillaugh. Then I reread the first line.

She is also a big bloody mary fan and now brings her own no salt added cans of tomato juice around with her. There is just so much sodium in the BM mixes. Of course she has to go through a 30 second explanation of what she wants in the BM and doesn't want.

Most bartenders are happy to do it, but one guy at Gustav's in Paris refused, stating it was a law that can't use anything a customer brings in.

It is the only place we've had this happen. Maybe it is a law, but it was the first time a bartender refused and it is an unopened 6 oz can.

Clearly, I got lucky when it came to finding a wife. So lucky, she has agreed to another solo trip in September.
