Staying there for the first time next month for two nights. I've been twice for the buffet, but this will be my first time having a room (basic resort room, strip view). Anybody have any advice, tips or tricks?

Go on youtube and search out M Resort rooms, plenty of videos on there of people giving tours of rooms, they look very nice, just like the casino.

On my previous stay there, I asked about upgrades and was given a choice of the classic one bedroom for $50 per night (a very nice room with separate living room/wet bar) and a flat suite for $100 per night (these are in the corners of the hotel and this room was very cool; jetted tub, big shower, nice living area, interesting furniture layout (due to the corner being an acute angle)). I was there for one night and went for the flat suite and am glad I did. They didn't offer the loft suite which is a 2-story version of the flat suite.

Hardways- I am getting married in feb and wanted to spend just one night at the M for kind of a honeymoon away from the Stratosphere . I called and inquired and I was told that the loft suite was a comp suite they give/offer high rollers that day at their discretion. Kind of like what they call in Swingers- their version of the "Rain Man" suite

You'll love the M. I'll be there tomorrow for about my 8th visit.

Park in the West lot by LV Blvd. Easy access to guest elevators from the pool/spa/convention level.

A decent amount of slot/VP play will get you a free buffet and you keep your points. See the website. Don't miss the raspberry pistachio shooters. Seriously, two of these and a mini chocolate souffle has been my dessert on about 15 straight visits.

I'm not a big fan of Hash House A Go Go, so I usually go out for breakfast when I stay at the M. Try the Original Sunrise Cafe at Eastern and Pebble. Or maybe the coffee shop at the Silverton.

Room Service is awesome and you can order from the Anthony's or Marinelli's menu if you ask nicely.

Baby Cakes has great gelato. 4 bucks for 2 scoops if you can believe it.

Out of curiosity....what are they charging for a standard room?

The M Resort never shows up when you search for Las Vegas Hotels on sites like Orbitz, Expedia and even i4Vegas.com

I've gambled there and eaten at their buffet, and have joined their rewards club, but have never received anything from them either by email or regular mail. I've often wondered how they fill their rooms.

Their rates are on their site. $125 is average. I am surprised they haven't at least sent you 25% off mailers.

I am the same as Vermontjohn.
I got card, played BJ for 2-3 hours, bit of slot play and have never had an offer from them. Not even $2 off the buffet.
I returned twice since getting my card for the buffet and again played a few slots. Nothing.
Since I was very disappointed in the buffet, it is unlikely I will ever return.
Maybe they don't like out of staters??

Last year during my Super Bowl trip, I played a bit on the slots for 2 days, a couple poker tournaments and for about 6 months afterward they were sending me mailers with very nice offers. Free bottles of wine, champagne, Jim Beam whiskey, Bacardi Rum, free t shirts, hats, jackets amongst other things. I live in Minnesota and couldn't take advantage of any of the offers. When I went back this past april, the offers dried up- except for the free buffet mailers. Those now have dried up

I went with my wife on a weekday evening with the intention of signing up, earning 450 points and getting a free buffet. Since the payout is $1=1 point, we know we cycled through about $500 in the slots that day (we played a little more after we ate, but not much).

From that I've received offers every month for two free nights, one free buffet with line pass, and $35 in slot play. And the rooms and buffet is any night of the week, so two weekend nights plus the $40 buffet (with line pass!) and $35 free play is, what, $300 in comps in one weekend? Oh, and it's 5X points on Fridays and Saturdays to boot.

Maybe they're trying to get back the $400 my wife won on the Wizard of Oz Big Event slot.

Nope. We live in SoCal and get offers out the wazoo for M. Stayed there in September, As a matter of fact. Love the place. Marinelli's has good food at a reasonable price, and the buffet is one of the best around. The beds are comfy, the service is good and you can get pints of Sierra Nevada from the cocktail waitresses near 32 Below.

    What's not to like?

Get ready for a good stay

    2nd Ardee,
We love "M" and it's a Must on every trip, even when not staying there.

It has a Big casino, great cocktail service & good comps, even for low budget players.
Most of all, they appreciate your gaming business, w/a more than friendly staff.

When we walked in last february, I was blown away by how nice the place is. I have been to Red Rock, while it is nice as well- not as nice as the M. Only casino I have ever been in that doesn't smell like an ashtray.

Try for a room on a higher floor. Strip view and on the 7th floor you will see a lot of roof tops. We used to stay there often until the 'free' stuff started to dwindle. Now we don't even get a free buffet.

When you check in, ask for a strip view. If by chance you are in the room at sunset it is nice to watch the sky darken and the strip lights come on. Also, my wife said it is nice to soak in the tub at night with a view of the strip.

We normally grab a pastry at Baby Cakes for breakfast. Something light to leave room for the 96 beers on tap at the 32 degree bar, or maybe the buffet.

My son introduced me to Keno awhile back and I have had the most luck with Keno machines at the M. Although not hugh, I have hit 6 out of 7 at all three of the main bars and multiple times at the beer bar. The only other place I have hit that is El Cortez. Still searching for the 7 of 7.

I get the same (out of state) mailer as Andy. It's a good deal and I don't stay anywhere else these days. As mentioned, free nights include weekends.

$35 free play and free buffet is actually two per month (1-15 and 16-31 or so). If you happen to stay mid month you can double dip on those.

However, mailers were better last year including several gifts per month (wine, liquor, swag). I also used to get invites to slot/VP/poker tournaments and superbowl parties including usually 3 nights free but no more. Locals still get all this stuff.

    Beware!!

We used to love the M also, but it seems that if you are lucky enough to win there, you are almost 86th. We had always received offers for new years , superbowl, and buffets. Some months the buffets, or the free wine etc, were not in our flyer offerings. Several months ago, spouse won a second chance drawing on a slot tournament for a large sum of casino play. After about 3 or 4 trips since, playing on the winnings of the tournament, there is nothing of a new years offer (New Host says not even on the books)(Old host is gone) and I would assume the same for the superbowl invite.
I guess that Penn National Gaming has brought in new upper management, or told local management, that they don't like winners!! Beware!! We might have to try the 'M card' casinos or back to Red Rock.
What is wrong with these casinos. Do the bean counters have that much pull, not knowing what they are doing? A lot of casinos have been doing this stuff but there are a LOT of casinos there. There is several of us that feel this way..

I live out of state as well - but have stayed at the M resort on at least 4 or 5 occasions since they opened. The rooms and food are very good, and I have found the staff to be extremely friendly. Since my very first visit, I have gotten regular mailings (every month) with 2 free rooms and anywhere from $35 - $100 free play. One trip I stayed an extra day and they comped the extra night based on my play from previous visits. I find this a truly relaxing property - as opposed to the 24 hour action on the strip. If you like to hang out at the pool (in season) they have cheaper drink prices than most places.

For what it is worth - I did have one trip where my luck was incredible (4 royal flushes in a day) and it didn't affect my subsequent offers in any way.

My play varies, but routinely in the range of $10-20k coin in per day on VP.

My only complaint is they have eliminated much of the "full pay" VP, at least for 3 or 5 play VP. I can play 7/5 bonus poker at home. The M is still on my list of places to stay, but will likely shift more of my play to casinos where I can play better VP.

    Good Luck!

Thanks for the information everyone. Less than a day away! I think I'm going to try the half-price appetizers at Marinelli's bar my first night as long as my flight lands on time. Definitely going to try the ciders at the 32 degrees bar on Saturday. And though I'm more of a shower person, that soaking tub with a view of the strip in the distance looks too good to pass up!

Of course your offerings dried up - you didn't give them any play. Free Play doesn't count for squat when they look at your play because you didn't risk any money.
