on pitting one hotel offers against another? I already have 4 nights (&Pool f&b credit) at the Flamingo for a decent price, and I Realllly want to stay on the Strip, but I got an offer from the Palms, which we BARELY played at TWO years ago, for the same time 2 nights comped and labor day weekend totaling $110. DO you think if I called Flamingo and said well these are my offers from Palms, is there anything you could do to beat that or at least match it? I know CET really goes off play, which I don't have any in the last year, just the points form the Visa, but would they try and do something to give me a good price so we stayed there?

    I doubt it.

CET's system is very sophisticated. If you just talk to a regular reservations agent, first of all, they have no idea if what you're saying is true about your Palms offer. They're not likely to be able to do anything but confirm what you could do yourself, especially if your trip includes Labor Day weekend.

You'd probably need to talk to a host to have a chance of getting a match, and even then, it would be because of your CET play, I don't think Flamingo or CET cares much about snatching market share from the Palms one player at a time.

I agree with ya, but my brother, who has been in the casino business for over 10 years seems to think that would happen. But unless I was a whale they don't really care about the 2 of us! I think it might be worth a shot, but I am going to wait for my Sept offers from CET.....

Per your brother, it could happen and you wouldn't necessarily have to be a whale... but you would need to have some level of play that they would covet and if an off-strip place like Palms is only comping two nights and making you pay for Labour Day then I would venture its probably not enough.

The other factor here would be if you have a host at Flamingo: contacting a host that you have a relationship with and getting them to match an offer is a lot easier than calling the Total Rewards desk - the people at the booth and who man the phone lines have very little authority or discretion to do anything: mostly just answer questions and give/offer whatever the computer tells them to.
