Just wondering about the gambling options. Do I need to drive to Tunica to gamble?
Tunica, Cherokee, or Illinois. TN has no casinos. You can do scratch tickets and powerball at the gas station and drink a 40. Truly, when people refer to Nashville as Nashvegas, I have no clue why. Not directed at you of course, but I've heard the Nashvegas thing my whole life. Having spent a good portion of time in both places, I would say they two totally different things.
Tunica is about 3.5-4 hours and your best bet. There's a few Indian casinos around Birmingham, AL......but i prefer tunica over any other option within a 7 hour drive.
Yep, you gotta go to Tunica (~3.5 hours). You could go to Metropolis which is about 1h 20min closer, but then you're stuck at Harrah's Metropolis, which may be Harrah's smallest property in the country, have to pay for your drinks, and can't smoke (although I like that last one).
Harrah's Southern Indiana is 3 hrs. away. Evansville IN casinos are 2:20 away. The big advantages to Tunica...good hotel capacity...free booze...8 casinos within a 10 minute drive. 2 sets of 3 each that are reasonably walkable...Gold Strike, Horseshoe, Roadhouse...I recommend this area if you're planning to drink as it includes the 2 nicest Tunica casinos and is an MGM/CET connection. And Hollywood, Resorts, Sam's Town is the other set of 3.
I assume the OP means legal options in Nashville. If so, as stated, Metropolis is the closest (2 hour drive). The Indiana casinos and Tunica are about an equal drive (3.5 hours), but Tunica is much closer to a vegas experience.
Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm relocating there next month.
