After our last AC beat down we decided (Mrs. JG esp.) that were not going back for at least a month or two.I guess you could call it gamblers remorse or something ?

I was (pretty much) determined to stay away this month after being in Vegas nearly every month last year, and that's despite winning on the last few trips. Just burned out – nothing more serious than that. Ms. Gecko, however, hating to see free room offers go to waste, and being able to have her airfare covered in conjunction with a work trip, talked me into going back. I even tried to convince her into going solo! I kind of won though in that next week's trip is for only five nights, which is probably the shortest trip we've made in years, and I'm still determined to skip February! :D

I've been on a run of bad luck in LV lately. We get back and say lets take a break. After a week or so, I start checking airfares:poke:

6 trips last year. Haven't had a Royal since 3/10.

We are trying to take a break. Tampa next week and AZ for Spring Training/golf in Feb.

I have a solo trip to Vegas in March and then we are both going back in April.

We went to either Vegas or Laughlin almost every month last year. We've vowed to wait until at least late February before going again.

made it 19 days so far :)

I've been on a hot run and I figure there is no reason for me to keep playing and let the worm have a chance to turn.

Also I am super burned out on the bad service, bad attitudes and bad paytables.

It kind of reminds me of golf. I played for years and got down to maybe a 5 handicap, then moved to Chicago and the weather was so bad all the time it was worthless to try to continue.

So I gave up struggling and fighting with the wife to get in practice time and fit in 30-50 rounds a year and I don't miss it at all. Play maybe once every 3 years or so now, shoot my mid-80's round and call it a day.

I expect gambling will follow the same path and I'll end up doing one 3-night Vegas trip every 2 or 3 years.

We are "LUCKY" to have the kids and there kids back home living with us so we can only afford one trip out a year, so we have had to learn to slow down when we get there!!

With 1 rare exception I've always stayed away for at least 2 months. The only exception happened because someone was doing a bachelor party in Vegas shortly after my normal March trip.

I'm sure if I only went for 2-3 days I'd want to go back more often, but I like doing 5+ days. By the end I'm not sick of it, but I'm just satisfied. The itch to return doesn't come back for a good month at least. Winning or losing doesn't seem to matter as the last few trips have broken even or been up.

I had a pretty extreme trip last June (extreme wins, extreme losses, luckily managed to make it out of town with a big win overall), and was scheduled to hit up AC the following week with a few buddies. Bailed on that, and stayed away from casinos for the next month. Went to Vegas again in November for a one-day trip, and going again next week... so I guess I took a break of sorts from my usual schedule of AC or Vegas every month.

Yeah from AC about a year or more. However, that's more due in part of me refusing to pay to stay there (Borgata dropped my freebies) and since I don't drive, I need to take the bus and the last time I took the bus a guy from the back screamed that he had no problem committing a felony if the loud Hispanic couple making noise didn't STFU. Suffice to say..it was a quiet ride back to Port Authority.

Hahaha.....good point, I can always use that slap in the head!

My opportunity cost for making the free time for golf/gambling has increased to a level that makes these often frustrating "leisure" activities more difficult to justify. Primarily more family stuff. And the ratio of cost to leisure value of both activities have worsened considerably.

I'm pretty much a retired fan now. I'll watch the Masters and read the TR's and probably get out every few years.

I wonder if it's the same bus we take to nyc?

We pick it up at the Toms River Terminal ,but it runs from NYC to AC and back.
Funny about the TNJ busses, during the "commuter runs" theres a strict code of silence observed, but the mid day trips can be a "scum-run" .

Have tried this so many times but there really is no place like Vegas in Europe.............

Take Monte Carlo out of the equation because they are in different leagues when it comes to catering for a low/mid roller:rolleyes2:

I did 10 trips with my ex-wife in the last 5 years and now this will be a trip with a new flame so hopefully it will be a new Vegas experience for me - well thats the plan anyway.

Ireland had plans for a "Super Casino" (yes just the one:rolleyes2:) but it got refused planning & legislation last year so as i said we have not got much choice if we want to gamble some hard earned away:cry:

Honestly - you guys dont know how lucky you are to have Vegas on your doorstep:nworthy::nworthy:

I need to go to Vegas before April, as if I dont, I will lose my CET credits :)

I was in AC 2 months ago, but now it's too cold, ifcourse less crowded. I am thinking of Fremont st. this time as it's cheaper, and I dont care about fancy-shmancy decor, or 50" HDTV.

    Usually 2-4 times a month

Depends how the mood hits us,but being 45 minutes away can be very tempting.
It's not like we cant afford it but like Mrs. JG said 'with the money we lost down there lately we could buy something really nice for the house" so how do you argue with that?

    annual lull

We tend to get drawn to Vegas more often in the summer and fall for concerts and shows, and normally just go once during the first few months of a year (even though we live within driving distance). I don't think we went longer than six weeks between Vegas trips last year, but it looks like we'll be taking a 2013 break till April because of work commitments and some non-gambling travel plans ...

It feels weird to be posting on this board without a trip countdown clock, though!

Have a 13 month old son, now.
    .
I've braced myself for NO VEGAS for
several years to come. After 20+ years.
( my MIL is telling me "I'll come along + we
can all watch the baby at different times in Vegas --
    You won't have to wait several years !" Let's go !" )
