My parents first took me to AC when I was about 14. I played slots and no one bother me. That was about 30 years ago.
My father passed a few years later. My mom continued occasional solo trips to AC for the slots. She never won big.

Her only time to Vegas was for my wedding in '04. I was so happy she made it, flying solo from Florida where she moved to. While waiting to be sat at the Grand Luxe Cafe in the Venetian for my rehearsal dinner, she hit $350 on a slot machine. It was probably the most she ever hit on one spin. She was so happy and I was so happy for her.

She is gone now, but as I am in full on planning mode for my upcoming trip it's nice to remember her only Vegas visit.

My wife and I and my mom and my aunt. We all had rooms at the Sands on the first floor around the pool area. Just wonderful to get up in the morning in winter and see palm trees, green grass and of course the pool.

My mother and my aunt played those slot machines 16 hrs a day. They were all coin droppers and their hands would be completely black at the end of the day, but they both sure enjoyed it! That was 1990 and neither of them ever made it back again.

My mom came from a farm family and they had 13 kids. My poor grandmother! I am down to one surviving uncle.

After my Dad passed away in '94, I started taking my Mum to Vegas every Mother's Day and often a second trip in September. She fell in love with Vegas and loved Rio rooms and Casino. She would often be up all night gambling. My favourite Vegas memory with my Mom was when I came back up to our room at Rio one morning in the wee hours and my Mum was just getting ready to go to bed. There were several buckets of quarters sitting on the coffee table. The conversation went something like this......,"Wow Mum, how much did you win?" "I'm not sure. I hit a couple of times on 5 times." Me "How did you carry these up to the room? Why didn't you cash them out?" Mum "I wanted to show them to you. A nice young man stopped by and told me to hit the service button. I think he is one of the entertainers here. He stayed and chatted with me until Security came to help me to the room with the coins." Me " I'd have been happy to see the paper money, you didn't have to lug the quarters".
A few hours later we're on the elevator taking them down to be cashed out and my Mum notices a show sign in the elevator " Oh look, that's the nice young man that helped me last night." Back then, his picture was all over Rio but my Mum hadn't paid attention to it. Well, that nice young man was Danny Gans. I'd seen his show but my Mum never had so I got tickets for that night's performance and we went again on another trip after.
My Mum passed away in 2000, but I really cherish the memories from our trips to Vegas together.

Ahhh, I have many vivid memories of Vegas with my mom! My parents were Vegas fans from our Chicago days and used to get invites from the Westward Ho so they would make a couple of trips each year. When the family eventually moved to Phoenix, I was barely legal and took my first trip to Vegas in 1979 - and it was with my mom. Soon I was earning my own invites to the Westward Ho, LOL! Anyone remember the Westward Ho Fun Bus? It's a far cry from the Bellagio limos I get now but it sure worked at the time. My first Vegas show was "Puttin' on the Ritz" at the Ho, courtesy of mom and dad. One time we took a family trip and stayed at The Dunes. It was a great trip and I thought we'd really hit the big time. A few years later, my folks moved to Henderson, NV for six or seven years and I would visit them religiously once a month.. (I know, SUCH a devoted daughter, right??) My mom and I would go out, hit the slots, and have a couple Harvey Wallbangers together while my dad and hubby played poker. Years later after my parents moved back to Phoenix, I would take them to Vegas on occasion and put them up at the Bellagio, the site of the old Dunes. So, my first trip to Vegas was with my mom and her last trip to Vegas was with me. She passed away in late 2013 and I miss her everyday.

I've never been to Vegas with my mom, it isn't really her thing. But I'll never forget her telling me when I was younger how stupid I am for going there and spending all of my money.

My mother meets me in Vegas for about half my trips. As a depression era kid you'd think she'd be the last person to like to Vegas (it certainly surprises my sisters). She just loves to people watch though, and there is no place better for it!
She'll even be there for my upcoming trip :)

My first trip to Vegas was with my mom. We stayed at the Las Vegas Hilton and "splurged" on tickets to Wayne Newton - who we didn't really like but hey, we were in Vegas! After the show started we realized that Wayne's tuxedo was actually a one piece outfit that zipped up the back. We found that hysterical and joked about it for years. Mom died 2 years ago. I miss her. This is a great thread. I'm smiling now thinking about her and Wayne's tuxedo.

My Mom loved gambling, but only ever went to the local casino. For her 65th birthday, my sister and I treated her to staying at Paris casino. My father was hospitalized two days prior, but insisted we still go. She had a blast, and Dads heart meds were changed up and he was home before she was. It was a little different due to her worrying a little about Dad, but she had fun, and we were talking about a return trip, but sadly she passed from cancer that moved very quickly.

We gambled a lot together over the years, and they are very fun memories for me as we never took things too seriously.

My first and second trip were with my folks when I was 18 and 20. I would play slots with my mom and no one ever paid me any attention. The first time I put money in a machine my mom had been playing it before me and said just play and handed me a roll of quarters, I hit a jackpot of $250 on Red, White and Blue 7's and continued winning the rest of the trip. My mom was happy for me lol. I now make it a point to take at least one trip per year with my folks and my mom and I get lots of mother daughter time when dad goes off wandering.

My mom has no desire to travel anywhere. So I do enough for the both of us.

My mom, who passed five years ago was an avid gambler. We took her to Vegas when she was about 80 yrs. old and stayed at the LV Club (yeah, I know but it was ok then). Mom was playing at GG and we couldn't get her to leave so, after much prodding and begging, we left her there, worried about whether or not she would find her way back. About 2 AM we hear her knocking on the door. When we opened it, there she stood with a fistful of cash. Although we have taken her on many gambling trips, this was the most memorable. God, how I miss her!

I never got to take my mother but I know she would have loved it there. We did do a few trips to Foxwoods. My kids are both grown now and they have met us there a few times. Great memories!

My first vegas trip with with my parents. Shared a room three nights with them. On night three my future brother in law stayed with us and then they left for phoenix and we were on our own for 3 nights.

It was a blast. We went to Zion and did the dam tour. Walked the strip a bit, we stayed at LVH.

My dad passed away this year and I told my mom after that I would take her back to Vegas this Oct. She had not traveled much with my dad being sick. He did not wanna go too many places. I am looking forward to it.
