    My Trip Report

So my friend Steve in mid Feb got some deals for early April and we decided to go for my birthday-April 1. He got 4 nights at Harrah's (two free) and I got two nights at Gold Coast Free. We got great airfare with Southwest. In all paid less than last year.

Day 1-we leave BWI at 3 PM and change planes in Little Rock . We get to Las Vegas about 7: 15 PT. We get our bags and get the Bell Bus to Harrah's. I always like this company-$8.00 each. Check in at Harrah's was easy. We had a very nice woman doing that and learned it was my birthday and we got a strip view. It was room 2323. We asked for an extra free night and she said she did not want to lose her job of 20 years. The room was a bit smaller than expected (Bally's last year was nicer). The beds were nice. We go down to play a bit, I got a free birthday beer at the Sports Book from an e-mail coupon. We went next door to Casino Royale and had White Castle. I have never had White Castel before and I do not think I need to again. I got an upset stomach from them-onions most likely. We both play there. I hit the roulette table and lost. We go back to Harrah's and I hit a $60 jackpot on Forbidden Dragons.

Day2-we get up since we are still on ET. We have the Flavor's buffet with coupon for breakfast. I have never eaten at Harrah's buffet before. It was good and had a wide selection for brunch. We both were satisfied. We needed to pick up the car at 11 AM so we walked to the Wingate/Maxim for the Enterprise desk. My company gives a discount through them. We get the car and head downtown to Fremont. Now I expressly wanted to do Thursday on Fremont for Binnion's Blackjack special. HOWEVER, it was discontinued. I was furious. We had a great day otherwise. We do a coupon run and hit all the places. We were downtown for like 13 hours. Steve liked the new 'Wonder Woman" game and played it in every casino that had it and usually won. I play craps and roulette and hit all my favorite machines. The El Cortez had the new Flintstones game that I really enjoyed. I played it for an hour and lost just $3. I played that almost everywhere after that. We had sinner buffet at the Golden Nugget with a coupon. The food was good and service great. We ended at the Downtown Grand and got a free T-shirt. Plus this place had the best looking cocktail waitress we saw all day.

Day 3-we start by going to In and Out Burger on Sahara. I sure wish they were on the east coast. Always great food at great prices. We then hit places that we did not see last year-Circus Circus, the Riviera, and the new SLS. Circus Circus is not part of MLife and still has its own card. I did not expect that. The place was packed with families. The famous Carousel Bar is now a popcorn stand. I win nothing. Slots of Fun has no live table games anymore-sad. Then we hit the Riviera before it closes. I wanted a $1 chip. I play the Pinball games in the HOP annex there and we play roulette. Steve hit two numbers in a row. I lost. we hit the slots a bit, took some pictures. We then got the car and went to SLS. I love what they did with the Sahara. It looks great. I still lost though. The staff was great. I got a $30 food credit for it being my birthday month, but their buffet is closed for renovations. We go back to the room. We have Jeff Dunham tickets at Planet Hollywood at 7 PM. We park the car and walk. Traffic was so bad on Friday night on Las Vegas Blvd that we were walking faster than the cars. We eat at Planet Hollywood buffet with a coupon. Food was great. We had seats seven rows from the stage. Steve has seen Jeff before. I have not. I knew about some of his characters. The show was about 2 hours long, it was being recorded for Comedy Central, he had some new material for Achmed. Then during question session he had an audience member trick him and he put it into the act. Our tickets were $101 each and worth it. We then play at Planet Hollywood, then go to the Cosmopolitan and have some drinks, then hit the Bellagio when I lost more. It is always fun to people watch there. We walked back stopping in the Cromwell and I lost $50 in less than 5 minutes. Time for bed.

Day 4-we drive to go some different places. We go down I-15 and end up at Southpoint. I can't say enough about this place. It was clean, I actually won, Steve won, the bathrooms were very nice. We checked out the Bowling Alley and that looked fun. They have a huge movie theater. I would consider staying there. Then we go to the Silverton and have a brunch with coupon. The food was great. They had free Bellini and we each had 2. great selection of food. The Manager came over and asked our opinion. We played there and Steve won and I did not. I was still up from Southpoint. That changed quickly. We then next went to Olympic Gardens, saw the end of the Duke-Michigan State game, and got a couple dances. The place had no cover and happy hour prices until 6 PM. However, it was dead. During the evening we went to NYNY and Excalibur. The losing continued for me-bad. We then went to In and Out again and the place was packed. The location on Tropicana is open until 1 AM. It is the most profitable location in the entire chain. We go to Harrah;s, play a bit and go to bed.

Day 5-Easter Sunday. WE check out and go to Boulder Station for their buffet. No coupons good for the holiday, BUT we get $5 per person for Easter Brunch. It cost $12 per person. The food was good, the line was long, but the people at the buffet worked their butts off that day. We tipped extra. we then play their and Steve loses and I break about even. I like this place. We then drive a bit and check into Gold Coast about 4 PM. I never stayed their before. The rooms were smaller but clean. The bed was shorter but comfy. The bathrooms are small. We then go to the Venetian, Wynn/Encore, and Treasure Island. We both lost at the Venetian. I never had a card there. I won some at the Wynn. This place had the best drink service. I think I got my drink in less than 5 minutes. I own a bit in Encore. I was new to the Wynn card and if you are new, get 300 points, you can spin a prize wheel. I got $20 in free play and I turned it into $20 real money. We then went to TI. I have not been in here since 2004. I never won their before. They have a new card. Both Steve and I got the points and won free play. I am hoping for some offers for rooms. We were here about 2 hours, maybe 3. A friend of Steve's lives in Arizona now. He came up for a few days. We met him at the Cosmo and then we play at the Aria. We go back to the Gold Coast. Have a snack at TGIFridays which is their 24 hour restaurant and it serves full meals all day.

Day 6-This was a non gambling day to start. We go to the Hofbrauhaus and have beer and pretzels. The prices here are much more than the one in Pittsburgh. We look at the Kiss place next door and thought it was a café but it is a mini golf course. Cool little museum though. We then go to the Pinball Hall of Fame. I love playing pinball and I go here every trip. They also have classic video games. We then hit the Bellagio Buffet for our last night. we get there about 5:15 PM with no line. I had the buy one get one from the My Vegas Facebook game. However, there was a problem. Steve is allergic to shellfish. Half the buffet had shellfish in it. It was not advertised at all. We ate more salad and desserts. I always enjoy it. They had roast lamb and I had three pieces; it was perhaps the best roast lamb I ever had. The desserts were great especially a mango coconut pudding thing. I had 2. We then go back downtown. We lost our best on Arizona but hit a lot of the places again. I hoped to hit at the El Co again but lost this time. We were joined by Steve's friend Larry. We played the Sigma Derby at the D again. We played for two hours on $10. We watched a show on the canopy. Driving back we stop at Play it Again Sam's Cabaret. I get two dances. We go back to the Gold Coat. I lost some more. We go to bed at 4 AM.

Day 7-I had to return the car to the rental place by 11 AM. They drive me back to the Gold Coast. We then check out, go to the Rio for lunch. We had a coupon and the food is great. Steve plays Wonder Woman again and hit it for $80 from $10 investment. Where was that all week??? We take a cab to the airport. What a great way to celebrate my birthday.

thanks for reading Viva Las Vegas!
