I just got hit for $30 without tip. Multiple highways.

I remember cab fare being $12-14 and no highways.

Did I get long hauled? It's more the damn principle behind it. I don't know the area well enough to know for sure.

Short answer - yes, you did.

You should never have been on any freeway... and since you cite "multiples", I'm certain you were tunnelled.
    $14 sounds about right.
Next time, be certain to tell the cabbie to take Paradise/Swenson...no tunnel...no freeway...

Seems like forever from now, but the flights are booked, so it counts!

My memory is that the fare is closer to $20 and I just checked a website that confirms that. As well, the rates have just gone up. Still there is no question you were long hauled.

Thanks for the replies. I was 99% sure thats what happened. What's etiquette for when that happens if I didn't say anything prior? I assumed we would take the shortest route to begin with.

Yes, long hauled - but $20 is about right to Palazzo in our experience.

#1. Tell the cabbie as soon as you get in that you do not want to go via the tunnel - for strip destinations; other destinations may merit use of the tunnel.
#2. V/P has a shuttle you can arrange in advance to and from the airport - Gold card and above is complimentary, otherwise there is a fee per person, still less than a cab - call to get rate details.
