Just went from the airport to Mandalay Bay. How much is the airport tax the the taxi driver charges?

Our cab ride was about $22 plus a $10 airport tax! I think we got ripped off!

Just phoned to report this cab, as we wrote down his 4 digit number. The Taxi Authority said it was not a valid number and he should have charged $1.80 only.

    Interesting.........

If you are starting your trip from the airport, there is an additional charge of $1.80 McCarran Airport Fee. If I'm not mistaken, this fee is shown to the right on the meter. No idea where they came up with a $10 airport fee for you.

$22 is a bit high for Mandalay Bay to begin with (it's not totally out of bounds, but the fare is usually less), and this $10 "airport tax" is complete nonsense. Good for you for reporting him.

Though this may be the exception to the rule, it is another reason for considering a shuttle. One big complaint is the wait for the shuttle to fill. I used to time it from when I gave the driver my bag til the bus started rolling, and most were 8-10 minutes. Usually different buses served the strip, off strip and downtown. I don't ever recall waiting for a bus or van to be completely filled. Getting back to the waiting time, I bet it is less time that it took you to look up the average cost of a taxi, calling the cab authority (tho I'm glad that people do) and post ing here. ....Just a thought!

Fare should be around $15 to Mandalay Bay, including the airport fee which is $1.80.

If you were on the freeway, you got long hauled unless there was some major traffic problem at the north end of the airport. The freeway is not the most direct route to any strip resort.
