    My Trip Report

So this is my first TR I believe, honestly I haven't posted here in about a year as I moved and have been (still) trying to figure out the DC job market but I digress.

Long story short, I was working on a Congressional campaign out west and after having enough of the subversive nonsense of people working under me, quit and came back to DC a month early (worrying about getting a job once I got back was the least of my concerns). To blow off some steam, the next morning I call Harrah's AC and get a room comp. It's Wednesday, so obviously even a low roller like me can get this in a (I hope not) dying town like AC.

Night 1 (Wed.) got in at about 2:30, early check in no worries as unlike Bally's AC they don't charge extra. Nice room, boardwalk view from the room (Harrah's is in the Marina area for those who don't know the lay of the land). I tell myself, before the nonsense that will ensue later that night that I should workout (which somehow I did the entire time there). Quick 30 min lift and I mosey down to McCormick and Schmick at around 4 (post shower mind you). There is a happy hour at M&S from 4-7 so I get the tasty chicken quesadillas and two beers for a whopping $12. Those 24 oz beers, while not kicking in, make me have that gambling feeling you all know about that you just really don't care about potential losses (within reason) and just want to have fun!

So I find a single deck BJ table, I pretty much only play BJ (want to learn craps one day when I have the time and a few extra grand to blow). Play through the night for about 5 hours, around $25 a hand- nothing spectacular. Get a comp for the buffet the next day for breakfast (Waterfront buffet is pretty solid IMO and right beside the renowned harrah's inside pool).

I believe I won that night, something small like $150 so that was a plus.

Day 2- So I hit the buffet, great food as usual and does the trick.... and now I'm supposed to head back as I only asked for one night.... but for reasons I think you all know I call reservations and get Thursday comped as well and now am spending another night :).

Go to the boardwalk, this is early October so it's still relatively nice outside- sparse pickings mind you-but I want to do the tourist thing I never did my last couple times and just hang out for a while. Knowing I need to play to 'earn' these hotel and food comps I begin at Caesars at another single deck table. Played for about 5 hours, had a total of 16 Heinekens or some unhold amount akin to that. Lose 300 and take the total rewards shuttle back at like 1 I believe (or the jitney, was hammered so who knows. Got another buffet comp from the pit boss for the next day, my journey home..

Day 3- So it's Friday, and a shit load of people are finally coming in here because they just left work like normal people and want to party on the weekend. Well, sitting in my car I get the great idea that "hey Chris, why don't you try for one more night". Call reservations, told based on my play I can get the night comped and do, and now I am staying another night. I recheck back in the hotel line and this time have a nicer room in the Bayview tower on a top floor. This was pleasant, especially considering it's Friday when people who bet a hell of a lot more than me come in. And I am solo on this trip, so it was greatly appreciated. Not sure if the fact that I give tokes all the time to dealers and cocktail waitresses when I play (doubtful as I've never heard of the pit entering such info but who knows) but I'm getting lucky with the comps for a guy who plays $25-$40 blackjack hands for 5 hours per day.

So the night rolls around, I'm playing at Harrah's and making friends, as well as some I met the night before, having a boss time. Pounding Heinekens (no idea why I choose this beer at casinos, perhaps because it's easy?) and win like $100 so for the trip I'm barely down, technically, as I've had some 40 beers in three days and get my 3rd or 4th comp buffet ticket.

Sat rolls around and my liver has had enough. Time for the 3 hour and change trip back to DC and to figure out the job thing (which I did about a week later as this was Oct 10th or around that time I think haha).

I may be going back to AC again tomorrow or next week so if there's any VMB people in the DC area, and since I'm playing again and checking this site like I used to a year or so ago, let me know!

Nice tr, didn't know harrahs or caesars had single deck (was it 6/5)? I know golden nugget has it in the lounge area. What part of DC do you live in? I'm also in the DC area.

trust me I rarely play $100+/hd at BJ but always toke the dealers (unless they suck) and chat with the floor person...most times as I'm coloring up the floor-man will say thanks and that he'll keep me up one the computer for another hour at my bet level

you might be getting credit for more time than you think if you're toking like you said
also I've never been to AC (doubt I will living 1hr flight time from LV), but if you ever get back out here I can teach you dice with a $500 BR...you don't need thousands to just double or triple up....it's about identifying a hot shooter...of course betting the darkside will require a bigger BR
