    My Trip Report

This would be my first trip report in this forum. There wasn’t much excitement on this trip, except when my better half (BF) had a great VP day. The amounts may not seem like much for some, but for us 25 cents VP players, it was beyond expectations. This report will focus on this one day.

We play 25 cents video poker and have never escalated above that amount. We checked in at MSS about 4 PM on Wednesday and was given a room on the 17th floor. In the past, we used to visit most of the down town casinos. We decided that it really does not make that much of a difference, so we concentrate playing at the down town Boyd casinos. The advantage is being given the Silver Card.

We just about maintained that first day. We awoke the next morning and had breakfast at the buffet. It was my wife’s birthday. My son was with us and he had a comped room at the Cal. He rented a car so we could head to Makinos that evening.

For the past couple of years, it had been very bad for my BH and she could not remember when she had her last Royal Flush. About a year ago, I opened a line of credit with MSS. After breakfast, I went to the cashier’s cage to get some funds. We then headed towards the VP area where all the coin in/out machines were located. I played a Bonus Poker machine and while playing, the player on the other side on the Double Double Bonus machine hit the royal. My 20 dollars lasted for about 20 minutes, but then I had the craps urge. (not the toilet kind) I headed for the tables.

There was one table in use. Those Hawaiians were very quiet (LOL, am also from Hawaii). I could not believe my eyes. Most of the players had chips on the rail and there were a lot of place bets.

There was one space open, but I try not to interrupt the shooter on a table. I moved to the spot to block any one from jumping in. It was early morning so there were not that many on lookers. Shortly thereafter, the shooter made his point and I bought in for 200. I am normally only a 5 dollar bettor.

The next point was 8 so placed 32 dollars on the inside numbers. There were a few who already had a minimum of 100 on the place numbers. I decided to press a little faster on this hot table and soon had a minimum of 50/60 on the numbers. I started pressing half the wins and collected the other half on each place point when it was made.

About 15 minutes at the table, my cell rings. I stepped away. It was my BH who said she just hit the Pay the Aces, no faces machine. I told her I would be there as soon as this hot session was finished. My chip total was approximately 700 dollars before the shooter finally shot that dreaded seven. One of the dealers stated the shooter held the dice for just over an hour. I hung around for a couple more shooters and finally cashed out with just over 600 dollars. One of the players had just over 8 grand. I gave the dealers the amount over 600 and cashed out at the cage.

I headed for the Aces/No Faces machine. The BH was dealt the four aces without a face card for a pay off of 7500 coins. This was paid off in cash ($1875) with a W-2G. She held the 4 Aces for a payoff of 400 more coins. After about five hands, she was dealt three Aces without a face for 250 coins. She finally cashed out the coins for a total win of just over $2000.

We had lunch at the Cal and played there for about 30 minutes, then decided to head back to MSS. I wandered off and finally returned to the VP area. I saw my wife playing that DDB machine that hit the royal earlier that morning. I did not say anything and went on the opposite side to play my favorite Bonus Poker machine. After about 20 minutes, she edged around the corner. She told me she just hit a royal. Now I know we had a good chance of going home winners.

My machine was holding steady. After playing off the credits, she came around and decided to play the Loose Deuce in back of me. Shortly thereafter, she hit the progressive royal for $1074. This was some lucky streak. I was still on the BP machine. About 15 minutes later, I could not believe it. She hit the 4 deuces for another $625. On the day of her birthday (our first trip ever on this date), she accumulated about 5000 in jackpots.

I have pictures on my cell, but I have no idea how to download it to my computer. We had dinner at Makinos and that was the end of the lucky streak.

During this trip, she also hit the regular 4 deuces for 250 and Four Aces with a kicker for another 500 dollars. I think I may consider coming back next year on her birthday.

As for me, I lost overall. My first two days on the crap table was profitable, but I gave it back plus 500 more on the final two days. My best hit on VP was four aces without a kicker for 200 dollars. On my favorite Bonus Poker machine, I had taken it up to about 1100 credits late one night and finally cashed out for 225 dollars.

We were on the red-eye going home. I paid off the one marker. We checked out just before midnight. Before calling for a taxi, I looked out the door and saw a shuttle. I ran out and asked it he was returning to the airport. It was just our luck. We were his only passengers heading for Terminal 2.

Because of her birthday trip, I had upgraded our 5½ hour return flight to First Class. Aloha and thanks for reading.

Thanks so much for sharing and congragts on the wins. It's funny how sometimes all you can do seems to be to lose and others it is just the opposite. I sure like the winning streaks better - lil. Next trip its your turn.

    Exciting!

Each time I visit MSS, I play the Aces/no Faces machine. Perhaps I will get it sometime.

I never thought about getting an additional 400 credits after the 7500!

    Thanks for the report!

The most common trip long meal comp is the coupon book that is good for certain items. The silver card is good at all downtown Boyd properties for any items at all coffee shops, buffets, 777, etc and is the next step up.

There is a mythical gold card that is good for gourmet restaurants but I average $10-12k per day and have never had a gold card mentioned to me.

The machine is “Pay the Aces”. It plays like a regular VP machine. On the deal, if you receive Aces without any face card , you are awarded credits. Four Aces w/o a face card pay 7500 credits. Three Aces w/o face cards pay 250 credits. After the credits have been awarded, you would play the poker hand and in this case, she held the four aces. Four Aces paid an additional 400 credits.

The pay offs after the deal are similar to an 8/5 BP machine with two exceptions. 3OK only pays double your bet and two pairs or a pair returns your bet. The overall return is 98.43%. MSS also gives a scratch card for 4OK valued at a minimum of two dollars.

To all, thank you for the comments.

Nice story! The easiest way to transfer pics without a cable would be to text the photos (one at a time, maybe two) to your email address. Just put your email add where the phone # would go. However only do this if you have a texting plan with mms. If it's a pay as you go texting deal then picture messages can cost 2 dollars each I think. Best to email or call your phone company beforehand.
