    My Trip Report

    Hi all,

A few weeks ago I joined this forum and got valuable info. This was my first trip to Vegas and I will try to include what I though of Vegas from my experience.

Saturday Nov 21 - Reached vegas at around 8:30pm and took the Bel trans shuttle service which is right outside gate 9 I believe. Took the roundtrip deal and it came out to $12 roundtrip per person. The van was full and we were the fourth to be dropped off. It was ok, and I will take their service again, didn't have to wait. The driver was good and helped with the bags and tipped him $1.

First impression of Las Vegas Blvd was great as there were lights everywhere and people were walking on the streets and it was a great feeling.

Went to Flamingo Check in and waited 5 mins or so. There was no rush, the girls behind the check in desk was between 25-27 and I wanted to try the $20 trick but my wife was nervous. I asked her politely if there was any complimentary upgrades available and told her that it was our anniversary. She immediately picked up the phone and started talking to someone,at this point I had not given her the credit card or the drivers license, but I took out a $20 bill put it between the credit card and the drivers license and held it in such a way that she could see the $20 while she was talking. After a few minutes she said that she has an executive suite on the top floor with the strip view and i took it. I gave her the credit card and drivers license with $20 and she tucked the $20 under her keyboard. She also put in some coupons with the room keys. 2 for 1 penn and teller shows. Voodoo lounge 1 free drink for 2, free admission, free admission to eiffel tower etc.

We came to the room and it was very close to the elevator, the room was big had a small fridge and it was pretty clean including the bathroom. The view was the best part and it was great. Smack in front was Caesars palace and we could also see Rio. On the left was Bellagio and we sat down and watched the fountains. On the right was Mirage.

We went out in search of food and walked to PH and ate at the mexican restaurant which was decent. On our way back stopped at Bills and got us some 99 cents margaritas which was great.

Sunday - Woke up and went in search for breakfast and found O shea's which had burgerking. We headed out and walked the strip and bought tickets from Tix4tonight for X burlesque. Did not have nay expectations, but it turned out to be great. I liked the small theatre which is good for topless shows as you can have good views even from the back. Rest of the night went in the casino as we played slots and won some $$. I learned from here that you tip the waitress and she keeps the drinks coming and that;s exactly what happened.

Monday - Got up late and went to caesars palace which was huge and saw the aquarium and strolled the forum shops. Went to casino royal and played the $50 free slots. Saw the volcano at the mirage, went to TI, but the Pirates show was closed for maintenance and it the show will open on dec 23rd or something.

Tuesday - Went to PH and Paris and hung out in the casinos and just relaxed at night we went to Stratosphere , Took a 1 day unlimited monorail pass. Did not like sahara at all the walking from sahara to stratosphere was even worse. The place looks dead and the street side walks look unsafe. That part of the town does not give you a good vibe, We went there early to get seats assigned for the show Bite which was at 10:30 pm. Came back from stratosphere to have dinner. We went to an Indian restaurant called Tamba, the food was excellent and they have lunch buffets for $12.99. After dinner hugh around the Hawaiian market and then took a cab to stratosphere for the show. Bite is a horrible show, the acts were cheesy, the girls were not good looking and it was hardly a topless show.

Wednesday - Got up early to get tix from KA as they were not available the previous day. Tix4tonight opens at 9:30 but the lines start forming from around 8:45 am. This location was at bill gambling and saloon, next to Flamingo. We did not have to wait it line since we were VIP as we had bought tickets from Bite the previous day they asked us to bring the ticket stubs from the earlier show and gave us $2 off each ticket. Bought tickets for KA 3rd level for $75 and went to MGM early to get seats assigned. Although we went early we got the fourth row of the 3rd level, the box office staff at the MGM were not good at all. I was surprised at their behavior working for such a big hotel. Anyways, we came back to flamingo and checked the flamingo wildlife habitat and gambled some more. Went out to MGM at around 5:30 pm and checked out the lion habitat at MGM, played some slots and watched the KA at 7 pm. At 9:30 headed back to flamingo and on our way back picked up dinner and stopped by bills to pick up some margaritas adn headed to Flamingo. We had an early morning flight and we were exhausted, so at around 12:30 went to bed and took the flight home next morning.

We did left a lot of things out so that we can go back and do things. We did not want to rush things. We were happy with what we did.

There was some kind of promotion going on with Harrah's property and they were asking us to go for a 2 hour seminar and they would give $100 amex gift cards. You don't have to sign up anything just be at the seminar, we declined it. You guys may want to check that out. This was both at the Flamingo next to the elevators and also at Bills saloon.

Overall, I learned a lot from this trip with the help of you guys and now I know what to expect and where to spend my time.

Will I go back to Flamingo yes, but next time we would like to experience a different hotel.

    Thanks for reading.

Nice score, a suite on your first trip.

    Thanks for the post!

I'd forgotten about the fish in the forum shops, have to take a walk down there to see it again in Jan.

Sounds like you had a great time; and, the suite upgrade...it doesn't get any better than that.

I believe the $100 Amex would have been time-share sales and not a Harrah's promo itself. There is a time-share booth near the Flamingo elevators.

    Thanks for the report

    But a secret for you.

    To quote you
"I liked the small theatre which is good for topless shows as you can have good views even from the back."

Next time you go to a topless show don't stare at the back. :wink2:

The KA show is one of the cool Cirque de Soliel shows, in my opinion. Pricey, but good. Since I am a natural cheapskate, Mystere is still a must see.

I left the MGM years ago. VIP service became atrocious.
