    My Trip Report

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    TR for 12-4 through12-6

Left New Orleans airport on time at 3:30 P.M. Uneventful flight on Southwest. Arrived 5 minutes early. Not bad start. Quick trip to the smokers lounge and away to baggage claim. Luggage came off quickly and then to Dollar for our car. Got our car quickly ( no one else in line ). After a short wait for the Dollar bus, we got a free upgrade at the lot to a mid-sized car. This sure beats paying for the upgrade at the desk LOL.
On our way to the hotel. Drove down the Strip to Circus Circus. I know most of you don't care for the place, but it was cheap enough and there were very few kids this trip ( only saw about 20 there at any time ). Checked in very fast ( again no line at about 7 P.M. ... lucky us ). Got an upgrade to a mini suite for $10 a night so the hotel got the $20 instead of the clerk ... her loss. Nice room ... king bed, descent sized bath ( a bit small, but it will do ), sitting area, 27" TV, and a great view ....... of a wall. So what, we weren't there for a view of an empty lot nexted to us where the Ho had been anyway.
Off to get something to eat, as we haden't eaten for about 6 hours. Down to the Casino Cafe ( formaly the Pink Pony ). Descent food at a descent price. Dinner for the two of us was about $13 after using $12 in comps we had left over from our last trip. This included the tip.
Off to the casino. No love for me or my wife at the casino early on. Just hitting different machines and losing money. Finally played some $5 Let it Ride, after I got tired of feeding the machines. Didn't do too bad. Lost about $30 in an hour. I waws suprised to see a lot of the tables were low limit, but I was disappointed to see the 6:5 rules for BJ.
Later, we got a call from a friend of ours who decided to drive up from San Diego. He had just arrived and was going to stay the night. We got together and roamed the north end of the strip for a while. Then we decided to go to Slots-of-Fun. While I threw money at the DDB VP my wife and friend played around on different machines. After about $200 in I finally started to hit with 4 or 5 4OAK'sthen I got lucky and hit 4 3's ( not with a kicker unforntunately ) and decided it was time to get off the machines. Played some $3 BJ ( 3:2 ) at Slots for a bit then had to go back to the room as it was around 4:30 A.M. and we had been up almost 24 hours.

Up the next morning at 9:00A.M. Too bad my friend had to go back to S.D. that morning so he could go to work. My wife and I went downtown to look around and play a bit. Parked at Binion's. Not too bad, the first 4 hours of parking were free with validation at the cage. We ate breakfast at Binion's cafe, Great food at very good prices.
On to the days gambling slaughter. Played for a while at Binion's ... no luck. Wandered around Freemont Street a bit playing here and there ... still no luck.
Stopped into the Golden Nugget. Nice place, seems well maintained. We might stay there next trip. Got our players cards and $10 free play each. Played for quite a while on their money, but left after we lost what the machines gave us. Headed back to the strip for a while, stopping for In-n-Out burgers on the way. We like 'em and wish they were this far east ( south Louisiana ). After a short rest, we went back downtown. This time we parked at Main Street Stations lot. It was a better deal. Pay $3 to get in the lot and get your money back at the cage. We played for a while at Main Street, and I was beginning to get lucky on a penny machine ( White Water I believe ) when my wife said she had to leave as it was kind of smokey there and her eyes were burning. SO, we left and went over to Las Vegas Club. Wandered around and finally setteled at a Twilight Zone machine. We each turned $20 into about $50 ...... yahoo. After we left there we went back to Binion's to eat as we had heard about their $5.95 sirloin steak special. After a short wait, we were seated and got our orders taken. Our food FINALLY came ( apperently our meals had been taken by another waitress for someone else ). The food was OK but not what we were expecting. The meat was tough and dinner rolls were an extra charge. We weren't excited with dinner. After dinner we wandered around Freemont Street again, looking around , waiting for the show. As mentioned in other posts here, the show needs to get better themes. Too much country for my taste. I guess it was because of the rodeo. Country is not my cup of tea. After hitting the 4 Queens ( losing again ) we headed back to our hotel for a good nights sleep.

Wednesday morning we got up kind of early ( about 8 )packed and got ready to check out. We were going to eat breakfast at Paris ( using our Harrah's points ), bur neither of us were hungry. We , instead, headed over to Bellagio to see the conservatory. It was MARVELOUS. There was a great big tree, reindrre flying and three polar bears along with other beautiful decorations. After taking a number of pics, we decided we were hungry, so we went over to the buffet at Ballys. The buffet was very good, but the food needed a bit of spice for my taste ... LOL. After we ate, we played a bit at Ballys and Paris. Again, no luck. Afterwards we went back to Bellagio so my wife could stroll through the high end shops while I played a bit more ( make that lost a bit more )in their casino. After a while we left Belligios and went to South Point. I had heard and read a lot of nice things about the place. It is a nice casino and a pretty property. I even had a little bit of luck on a Sea Monkeys machine.

Finally, it was time to head back to the airport for our flight home. After dropping the car off, we got to the Southwest baggage drop to find we were the only people in line again. Lucky us. If only our luck had been as good in the casinos  :blah: . Security was a breeze and we were at our gate in about 15 minutes ( C concourse ). We got some Burger King to eat on the plane. Had another smooth flight home. Landed about 11:55 P.M. ( local time ) and drove back to Baton Rouge and crashed.

I know I said up front this was going to be short, but it got away from me. Hope you all enjoyed it.

Nice report. Too bad your luck wasn't a bit better. Don't feel bad because you're not alone. If we all won there would be no Vegas. :wink
