    My Trip Report

    DAY 1
Flew out of Omaha on Friday morning, 1/2. Landed in Vegas at about 10:00 local time. We grabbed a cab to Bally's, walked in the front door and were immediately accosted by time share people. This became a theme for the trip. They are worse than telemarketers and I started losing my patience with them by day 4 (I was really tired and hungover on day 4). We got checked in and our $20 tip was taken and we were told taht we were going to get a room normally reserved for diamond players. Well, we are both lowly gold players and we thought that the room sucked. Our room was way nicer last time without the $20 trick.

We got settled in the room and grabbed a quick bite at Sbarro. Grabbed the monorail for the first time. We thought that the monorail was alright, but the walk was inconvenient and it really isn't that cheap if you are only taking it once. Riding it all day would be a pretty good buy.

We got off at the Sahara. We haven't played there in at least 5 years. It was about the same as I remember. I had a good time and broke about even. We then walked to the Riviera. I have never played here in all my trips to Vegas. It was smaller than I pictured, but I had a fun dealer and the drink service was outstanding. We walked across the street to Slots-A-Fun and did a quick walk-through. No tables open, so we grabbed a cab to the Stratosphere . I have no idea if we won or not, but the drink service was remarkable! We were there for quite a while, then grabbed a cab to Harrah's. We ate the buffet, which was good. It also brought me down a little. I played some blackjack and made a little money. We popped down to Flamingo and I lost rapidly there. I have no idea if we played at Bill's, but I know that we ended up back at Bally's and Paris. We both lost at a pretty rapid rate and ended up turning in at about 12:30. This is the earliest that we have ever been to bed in Vegas, let alone on our first night! But we were both losing and thought that it might be a good idea to turn in.

    DAY 2
We got up early and were on the Deuce by 7:00 heading downtown. Grabbed breakfast at Careful Cortez Kitty's. It was good as always. I made a little money playing blackjack, but the highlight of the ElCo was the guy that I was playing BJ with. This guy was betting $50/hand, but he was playing $100 on the Royal Match. Obviously he was not long for the table.

Downtown is a little different for us. I like to mosey and settle in. My wife is like a fart in a skillet. She is all over the place. So, I hit the Fremont and played for a while and did OK. Nugget crushed me. Binion's crushed me. Golden Gate slapped me. Cal slapped me. MSS slapped me. Time to grab a shrimp coktail and regroup.

After lunch we headed back to Binion's. I got there right at the start of the SD/Indy game. I thought that I would play some blackjack and then watch the game. Well, I never got to watch the game. Played for about 4 hours, got smashed, and won about $500. Wow, did I ever need that! Then we grabbed a sandwich at the snackbar, which was awesome! Being as drunk as I was, I amazed my wife with the speed at which I ate my sandwich. Oh well.

Popped over to the Fitz to play some craps. Wow, that $160 went fast! We grabbed a cab to PHo. Being Saturday night all of the trendy people were out. We are not trendy, but I don't care. Sat down at a BJ table. Got my butt kicked and drink service sucked. Wife was actually treated shabbily by one of the waitresses. I don't get it. We tip. What's the problem? Got out of there, walked back to Paris, walked through there and decided to hit the rack as we were both losing. 1:00AM bedtime. Getting better!

    DAY 3
Got up early again and ate the Paris breakfast buffet. We grabbed a cab to the Orleans (should have taken the shuttle from Bill's to GC to Orleans). Played even of BJ there for a while and decided to bounce over to the Rio. I absolutely got destroyed here. So did wifey, so we decided to get out of there fairly quickly. We went to the Palms and I got beat again, but the drink service was good and I got to play for a while.

From there we went to Harrah's and ate at Toby Keith's. It was OK. I decided to take a break from getting whacked around and just watched the Eagles game in the sports book. Got fairly drunk.

Once the game was over I met my wife at the PaiGow table. I was playing even for a while when a group of really nice guys from San Diego sat down. Some of them didn't know how to play and the one that did was telling them how the fortune bet was the worst bet in Vegas. About 4 seconds before he said that I had bumped my bet up to $10. Everyone had a good laugh about that. Then I got dealt 4 Aces on that hand. $250 that I really needed. It didn't get me back to where I was, but it certainly helped and lifted my spirits.

From there we went to the Flamingo. I played some Blackjack and got beat. All of the tables were pretty full except for Pai Gow dominoes. There was no one there, so I thought that I would ask the guy how to play. After all, he had a sign telling me to ask him! He was a really nice guy and he helped me for 2 hands before he went on break. Then this Asian dealer that did not speak good English came in and treated me like I was a complete moron. Now, my wife tells me that I am a moron all the time, but not a complete moron! Seriously, this lady was a total bitch that basically told me that it is too complicated for someone like to me understand. I was pissed. The more I thought about it after I left the table the more angry I got. So I went back and talked to the pit boss. He apologized and said that he would have a talk with her. I'm sure that happened. :rolleyes2:

Went over to Bill's and got on a pretty hot craps table. Made a few bucks there. Then we crossed over to Bellagio. I found a double deck game and made a few bucks. Then a new dealer came in and was a non-talker. So I followed my other dealer over to another table with the drunkest guy in Vegas (I think that I was the second drunkest guy). He was pretty fun though. A couple from Canada sat down with us and we were having fun. Somehow I ended up down quite a bit of money, but don't really remember how. My wife came and found me and got me to the cashier and back to Bally's by 2:00AM. We forgot to eat supper. I. Was. Smashed.

    DAY 4
Got up and moving about 7:30. I was really tired and hungover and the time share freaks were all over us. Grabbed a Subway to start the day at Casino Royale. Played about even at Harrah's. Lost some cash back on a craps table at Bill's. Then lost my last wagers of the trip on a Blackjack table at Bally's.

Grabbed a cab to the airport and snoozed on the way home.

Great fun had by both of us. I lost under budget, but still more that the last few trips. However, my wife broke about even so that was a nice treat.

Thanks for reading. It was supposed to be a quick TR but I got a little wordy.

I really liked your TR...things that caught my eye:

"but he was playing $100 on the Royal Match"...WOW! It would have been cool to see him hit, though.

"My wife is like a fart in a skillet." Very interesting!

Sounds like my kind of trip, but wish you would have won more. Our last trip was really got spanked, and I know that can take a bit of the fun edge off.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

I'm glad you explained the 'fart in a skillet' remark, because of all the places I've farted, which are almost innumerable, a skillet, unfortunately, is not one of them. So I had no idea what you meant for a quick second. Mystery solved.

This is why I come here. You people make me proud!
