I'm planning on ordering 3-day passes for us online ahead of time.

    (1) For any of the bus passes: does the passenger scan them through a bar-code reader when entering the bus, or just show them to the driver, or what? I figure we have to scan them through something, sometime, to start our 3-day period; and (2) I think we'll be embarking/disembarking at some of the "shared stops" (both SDX and the Deuce use the stop). In case I am (a) bedazzled by all the people and lights and goings-on, or (b) drunk, am I correct in thinking that the Deuce buses are always double-decker, and the SDX buses always double-.....trailered? (don't know how to word it - I think the photos always show a bus with a front and a back ..... trailer.

Oops, one more. Etiquette and standard practices: do passengers always enter from the front and exit from a back door, or is it a free-for-all?

Scan. It will scroll across the front of the bus that you will always see several times as it approaches. Always take the one with the "X" in the title unless you have lots of time to kill. And always give your seat up to seniors like me (and please don't point out I have brought an alcoholic beverage aboard....that would be rude).
Have a great time riding with the peeps of LV!!

You need to validate on your first ride. The driver will tell you how. Then you just swipe it right to left through the scanner on your next trip.

You are right about each bus. The Deuce is a double decker and stops at every casino. The SDX is double long and gets you there faster because it stops less.

You have to enter from the front where the driver is because that's where the scanner is and then you exit the back.

I agree that you swipe your card upon entering the bus to begin your 3-days, but I'm not sure how you do this on the SDX since you don't swipe upon entering an SDX bus. Maybe you can also validate at one of the ticket vending machines at an SDX stop? I'm not sure.

I am planning on us primarily using the SDX; maybe the Deuce only as a short transfer to get closer to where I want to be (need to conserve steps).

We don't swipe a barcode reader on the SDX?

Nope. The driver is doored off from the passengers too. Occasionally a security guard will ask to see your ticket, but other than that it's on the honor system for the SDX.

You do swipe your card on the Deuce and most other RTC local buses.

I used the SDX twice during our last trip. I'm pretty sure it has front, middle, and rear doors. I got on through the middle door, there is a scanner there, some folks were stopping to scan their passes. The driver announced to just come on board and don't scan.

On the Deuce, enter in the front door, swipe your pass; exit at the rear door. Inside, use the front set of stairs to get to the second level; the rear stairs to get back down and out the rear door. Even with this, it can still feel like a free-for-all.
On the SDX, use any one of the three sets of double doors you're closest to for entry & exit.
    Enjoy yourself!

If you use any of the other buses (say you want to go east to west, like to the Rio) enter and swipe in the front exit from the rear door.

You can also validate it in the machine that you buy your ticket. Just follow the prompts on the screen.

You don't swipe on your first trip, there is a slot to insert it to validate it. The driver will show you.

On the SDX - there is a box looking thing near the door for you to insert your pass and get it validated. Most people do not do this. Not sure if it is true ignorance or if they are trying to get over. But that is what you are supposed to do.

I usually get the three day pass for $20. I always thought the clock started ticking when I purchased the pass. Am I correct, from what I've read, that the countdown doesn't start until the pass is validated on the first ride? Thanks VMBers.....
