Come on, Adam Scott, even I shot a 41 on the back, with a triple on 10 AND a three-jack after hitting 17.

I did not, however, get remotely close to shooting his 77 overall.

My best start on a famous course was one under coming into the 7th hole on the Old Course at St Andrews. There I spun my approach shot back into the shell bunker right against that shear wall. It took two to get out and the game went downhill from there. I ended up shooting 89 from the middle tees.

At the start, I was doing far better than my handicap would indicate.

It was nice to sit on your balcony in the hotel on the 17th hole with a drink and watch the play go by. That was in the 70's and I don't recall it being called the Old Course Hotel then. You could drive over an edge of the property (they had slung netting to protect cars, people).
