The movie will be screened at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Clark County Library, on Flamingo Road about two miles east of the Strip.

Sean Clark, a local screenwriter, producer and film professor, will discuss the movie’s significance during the free presentation.

Pete Vallee, also known as Big Elvis, will perform three special shows Tuesday in tribute to the 50th anniversary of the release of “Viva Las Vegas.” He’ll perform various songs from the movie and, in between, share some trivia about the film. The free show at Harrah’s will be staged at 2, 3:30 and 5 p.m.

Song gives me chills - as an Elvis fan, and a lover of all things Las Vegas. Gets my blood pumping.

Only six hotel casinos remain open 50 years later.*

    Downtown:
    Fremont
    Golden Gate
    Golden Nugget

    Strip
    Flamingo
    Riviera
    Tropicana

Binion's and Las Vegas Club casinos are currently open (Binion's closed everything post Becky Bankruptcy), but their rooms are shuttered
