Which property has nicer standard rooms? Also does the Fremont have a pool?
No pool at either place, but if you stay at Four Queens, you can use Binion's pool. Owned by the same people, but the hotel at Binion's is shut down, pool is open.
I liked the room at Four Queens but it has been so long since I stayed at Binion's, I can't compare.
EDIT: Oops, meant that to say since we stayed at Fremont.
If you stay at Fremont, you can use the pool at California. I think the Fremont rooms are a little nicer, but the 4Q rooms are bigger. For me the Fremont room was big enough, but I would not want to stay in it with 2 people.
Binions rooftop pool is 800 times better than the Cal's pool. Roughly.
GNs pool is 8000 times better than that.
Both websites have virtual tours of the rooms.
Based on the pics, I'd stay at Fremont but I wouldn't even consider 4Q.
we have stayed at both 4 queens and fremont and although the fremont room was a bit nicer we would not hesitate to stay at 4 queens again as the room was very clean and comfortable.
I cannot speak to the Fremont, but just returned from a one night stay at the 4Qs and can say that the room was just okay. We were in the north tower on the 16th floor. Felt like a regular hotel to me.
I will say though that I do like the casino at 4Qs a lot. Good service and have had pretty good luck there.
I stayed at both my trip the past week. The 4 Queens had issues with noise/loud music from the concerts that blast until 2 AM. I think the one nearest to the 4 Queens (and unbearably loud) plays from 11 PM to 2 AM and made one of my nights miserable even though I asked for a room on the quiet side. No problems the night I stayed at the Fremont.
I have stayed at both. Cannot answer about the quality of the pools (Binions and Cal as posted above).
Rooms were both fair, clean, and basic. I would stay at either again. 4Q was a little larger than Fremont. Fremont was a little "newer".
If you chose Fremont, ask for a room that does NOT face Binions. Rooms facing Binions (and Casino Center drive) have to deal with the car horn honking all night long at the people under the canopy crossing the road when they have the do not walk sign.
Not sure if they made the rooms bigger but the fremont standard rooms facing binions are small, not as roomy looking as on their web site. I remember there wasn't that much room to walk around. I also remember the bathrooms as small. The shelf for your toiletries was small, I was always afraid of my stuff falling in the toilet. Not sure if they fixed that problem or made the bathrooms bigger since their last renovation. As someone else said, for 1 person the fremont room was okay but it might be tight for 2 people IMHO.
The 4q rooms were bigger IMHO and the bathrooms are standard sized (larger than the fremont's bathrooms). If noise is a factor you should book a room facing south.
One thing to note: all parking at the fremont is valet so you (should) tip the parking attendant. parking at the 4q is self parking. That is a factor for me since I usually rent a car, my only time I valet at the fremont I found a ding, like they backed the car into a wall or something. While that was probably an isolated incident and I wasn't charged for the ding I always stayed away from the fremont if I had a rental. but that's JMHO.
That said I think both places are fine to stay at if you aren't too picky about "amenities" or lack thereof.
funny, I went to the 4q web site, they say that the 4q is the "class of downtown", lol. Always thought that the GN was the class of downtown.
