Earlier this week, I got two mailers from Beau Rivage for their junkets. One flying out of CMH, the other, IND. Nothing unusual there. Get them regularly, but have never used them. Now they are charging a $40 convenience fee per person! The mailers went in the trash can. I never will use them now.

If I'm not mistaken, the "convenience fee" is to cover airport taxes and fees associated with the airline that's performing the charter flight. At least that's what I read about when Frontier took over the CET junkets, but I think theirs was $25-30?

I had never noticed the fee in previous mailings. That is why this time it irritated me.

I know they have a new airline. It is now Sun Country instead of Vision Air.
I have never paid anything before either, but the customer care agent said that everyone pays it.

As for paying it, I can not fly myself and my wife to Biloxi from XNA(northwest arkansas). Have ground transportation to and from the casino. Pay for 3 nights hotel for $80, so I jumped on my offer.

Now if you were having to pay for the flight an extra $80 might be a dealbreaker.

I just looks at it the optimist's way.

Free flights, no luggage charges, free rooms for 3 nights, free Wi-Fi, free in room beverages daily, free transfers to and from the hotel, free access to the fitness Room and pool, at a venue I love, only it really costs $80 for my wife and I.

We spend more than that every week for a night out of dinner and drinks.

Most people don't realize you can free newspapers each morning at the Beau's bell desk. Those are included in that fee or with the comped rooms. You don't even have to show a room key.

If you originally liked and used their coupon, maybe best to shoot them a quick e-mail to let them know of your displeasure.

I received a mailer for this offer too. $40 convenience fee applies but MGM is giving you $40 in freeplay to offset the cost.

Heck of a deal IMO. Anyone done these before? Mine is out of XNA (NW Arkansas) for 3 nights. Considering doing it...what can I expect? A free flight, transportation, and no other catches?

The Beau Rivage mailers I got said nothing about a $40 freeplay offset, but I got a flier yesterday for a junket to Gold Strike in Tunica, and it offers the $40 offset. Gp figure. The problem with the Tunica offer is that it flies out of Fort Wayne, IN, which is a good 1.5 hour drive for me.

CET has these also. They were $20 per person last year. You were able to use TR credits for payment at the time of booking.
For the two trips I did to Atlantic City. I thought it was still a good deal. Normally these offers include Rountrip airfare, bus transportation to hotel, and X number of nights.
I usually get mailers for Free Play and food comps that make it a hell of a deal.

I'm still trying to decide. It's a 2-hr drive for me from NE OK. But I would be joining your flight from 6/13-6/16. What are the flight times? I was going to call and get more details this afternoon as I've never done one of these before.

I'm going June 12 out of Savannah now using SunCountry instead of Vision Air too. My mailer didn't mention the $40 convenience fee but when I tried to get on the fight I was told all the free seats were taken & Sun Country had 12 1st Class seats at $150 with a $40 free play (& they couldn't comp the 1st class seats.) I grabbed it but then a couple days ago they called me & said there was a cancelation so if I wanted it, I could cancel the 1st class & grab the regular free seat. I took that instead but was told that new $40 convenience fee was going to go in effect July instead of June. I would have been happy by paying the 1st class price ~ still a great deal ~ just wish they would arrive earlier & depart later for more time!

sonyhog, I'll look for your Razorback hat at the crap tables! Good luck!

They didn't mention the first class to me. Our flight is pretty good times for me. We leave at 6pm Friday and come back at 2pm Monday. So I can work a partial day. We drive to XNA(80 miles) and leave at 6 and when Vision was in charge we were checked in to Hotel and at craps table around 8pm. And we can sleep in on Monday. Hopefully Sun Country is as good.

Hmmmm...every offer we've gotten for this trip the last 2 years gave you back the $40 fee in FP. It may have just been in some fine print?
