    My Trip Report

We decided we were too old to get up at 3 am and drive 1hr 20 mins to the airport. Got a room weds 4/2 at Homewood Suites at the airport. Very nice, would definitely stay there anywhere in the country!

Thurs up at 4:15, leave for the airport at 5 AM….get out of the car in the parking garage at 5:06 SWEET!!. MHT (Manchester NH) no lines at Southwest check in, 30 mins at security. Plane was not full for once, so scored an empty seat between us!!! Last year plane was hot as hell, this year, FREEZING. Had on a sweatshirt, jacket, hubbys jacket, 2 paper thin airline blankets and still cold. Plane was late taking off…they thought they were missing someone (lady was in the bathroom), head winds, heavy traffic at LAS…so flight took 6 hrs 20 mins. Flight home Tues 4/8 took off on time, they had to fix a broken toilet seat LOL, was full NO empties anywhere, hot as hell, flight home 5 hours.

Rental Car-Alamo Kiosk said we had 2 reservations (doesn’t look like they charged us though) had reserved a compact. Guy directed us to the row…NO cars. Dragged luggage back to the guy…pointed us to the mid or full size don’t remember which it was…took a Malibu…no extra charge. I had no prob with Alamo…second time using them, hubby still hates them, says never again. Oh yeah, the remote door lock controller didn’t work.

Rio – couldn’t find the platinum desk (didn’t realize it is at VIP Services), no line at normal desk (noon on a thurs) clerk was very nice but did appear he needed permission to spit. Inquired about how much for an upgrade (site had high reg rates, so knew it was a busy week). He said he had no Cariocas, talked to his supervisor multiple times, gave us a deal that I was very happy with. Masquerade Suite 19001 facing west…3 nights $100 each 2 nights $200 each (original reservation was for standard for 5 nights comped). I knew ahead of time that the Masquerade tower was in need of renovation, so expected some “staining†I also was aware of the fact that these were the original High Roller Suites. 1600 sq ft, 1 and ½ baths, whirlpool, 3 separate rooms, large entry, huge bathroom, 180degree view of the city, fridge/wet bar. . Sure there were some tattering to the furniture and staining on the rug. But I’ve had that on normal rooms at other hotels that I paid full price for. Housekeeping keeps them as clean as they can. I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH IT. Works out to less than $150 per night. Never heard a neighbor. Could see City Center south…all of the west Flamingo to the mountains (except where Ipanema blocked it) north to Mirage. Usually we leave $5 day for housekeeping, with such a large suite we left $10 day with a $20 on the last day. Suite was 4X larger than we usually have.

Food- All American Grill twice (we love the food there)
Sports Kitchen – pizza gross, onion rings good
Red Rock Resort lunch buffet- THANK YOU KIKKY!!!! :nworthy:I give it ***** fantastic. The quality of the food for the value cannot be beat. $10.95 lunch buffet.
Cheesecake Factory- have been trying to get there for 3 years, finally made it. Food was okay. Cheesecake FANTASTIC!
Carnival Buffet- good, Red Rock better.
Gold Coast Buffet- edible…we use to like it, guess our taste is changing.

Shows- Barry Manilow Friday night center section 3rd row….Fantastic as always. His voice was a little better this year. He has cut the number of shows per week, perhaps his age is catching up with his voice.
Sunday – Roseanne at the Sahara. Small theater, small group. I paid full price for Golden Circle. Goldstar has discounted tix, lady in line got vip tix that day discounted at box office, so don’t think she is drawing any crowd. I enjoyed the show very much. If you go, while in line to get in….someone walks around with papers to fill out with ??? because she does a fortune telling segment. Pretty good- put down a juicy question, very funny part of the show.

Gambling- Not great overall. 2 good hits for me, nothing to write home about for the hubby. Best story of the trip. Friday morning had driven down to Circus Circus to do our show tickets pick up walk. When we were done went to Slots A Fun. Had put in $60 in a 2 coin $1 Wheel of Fortune machine, on last 2 credits hit 9x 150 = $1350. Well you would have thought I had hit a million. Multiple workers come over, took an hour to get paid. They wanted my SS card (first time any casino wanted that, usually license is all they ask for), gave me a free t-shirt, and took my picture for their advertising. I did see a display of winners on the door heading in from CC. The pix I saw were very old so I don’t know when mine will be put up. Gave me the “big†check. Supervisor took care of me….I was laughing my butt off. I’ve hit this much at Foxwoods before, they take my license give my money and me my W-2 and it’s no big deal. So if anyone goes to Slots a Fun this year look at the winner display and look for Tammy Greene with a $1350 giant check in April 2008, that will be me!!! Had a $720 hit Monday night at the Rio. Gambled at the following places: Rio, Gold Coast, Palms, Hilton, Sahara, CC, Slots A Fun, Harrahs, Flamingo, Caesars, Bills, Paris, Red Rock, Sam’s Town.

Misc- First time with a car. Really glad we were at the Rio…very handy to drive around from there. Drove out to Red Rock Canyon, nice drive. Drove over to Sam’s Town, nice. On the way back from my big hit at Slots A Fun we went to the Walmart Supercenter on West Charleston. Wanted to buy soda, water, and snacks for the room. Wound up buying the hubby his 30th Anniv present. He has been talking about getting an I-Touch for months. No stores in our area have had them in stock, even web sites he has gone to have been sold out. Well there they were sitting in the display case. Used some of my winnings to buy him one. Figured the $450 would have wound up in slots anyways. I’m a stay at home housewife…felt soooo nice to buy him a nice gift without using "his" money. He had already given me a new “rock†so happy 30th to us.

HET properties running a cross promotion. Give you coupons at check in for other HET props. Wound up with 3 free tshirts, plus the one from slots a fun, bought another Tshirt at Roseanne...had to buy it, front says "Domestic Goddess"

Alcohol---- well hubby had none, I had 2 Mich Ultras and 2 Sloe-screws. IT'S VEGAS GOTTA HAVE A FEW DRINKS.:wink2:

Went to Fashion Show Mall so hubby could go to the Apple store and buy a good case for his new toy.

Didn’t get out to Hoover Dam, when the day came we just didn’t feel like it. Didn’t make it out to the Maple Tree Diner either, another item on my list.

I know there was more I wanted to say, has all blended together so this is long enough already.

Signage in Vegas is not as good as back home. Didn’t get lost, but made a few last minute lane changes to get where we wanted to go. We didn’t dare drive at night, we never would have seen the signs in time to get in correct lane. Took shuttle to the strip, we never would have found the self-parking LOL. Drove down Industrial to CC twice. Easy to pull into their parking lot and walk around that end of the strip. So in the end stayed 5 nights took another $ 180 off my hotel bill from points not used for food. (Hubby has to have the net so that adds to the bill). Racked up about 3500 tier credits. Looks like I will have to make a short trip back or to AC to make platinum again. Overall, great time. We will stay at Rio again. We love the hotel. I am attempting to add pix. First time trying so will see what happens.

Very nice, Tammy58! A big congratulations on your anniversary and your VIP win at Slots A Fun. I bet you felt like your very own "Domestic Goddess" with the special attention.

Glad to read that Mr. Manilow's voice is still in peak form. I say quality over quantity is working for him.

    Thanks for the report.

That suite looks very nice. Great TR and congrats on the win at Slots-a-Fun. We will be there in less than 2 months and I will look for your pic in the winners section.

Loved the pics of the suite and of you holding that HUGE check. You were playing a dollar machine in Slots of Fun? Isn't that their High Roller area? No wonder they surrounded you.
