3 weeks from right now I'll be back in the city we all love for the first time since my cancer diagnosis and subsequent victory over it. My last trip was last October and I felt lethargic and sick most of it with what I thought was bronchitis. A month later the cough had subsided for the most part but severe shoulder pain set in and I took off for the ER. November 18th my life was flipped upside down with a cancer diagnosis, Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma to be exact. The best doctors and nurses at Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit put me through 7 rounds of chemo therapy which I finished March 31st. My first scan post-chemo showed a little activity remaining so the doctor wanted to wait 2 more months and do another scan. On July 23rd, I learned I could start getting my life back! I'm back on the golf course (game is coming back nicely too, right around a 74 average), I head back to finish my last semester of law school in one week, I'm currently working on my bar application, and I think most importantly to me, I am only 3 weeks away from my return to Vegas to celebrate my health and the joys of life with some of my family and my best friends in the world! To everyone going through the battle or anyone that knows someone in the battle, let me be proof that cancer doesn't have to be a death sentence, just merely a speed bump in life! God bless and f**k cancer!
