    My Trip Report

We did a long weekend in Vegas. It was the first time we got comped for rooms at any hotel, and we got it at IP cuz we were low gamblers. As mentioned we've only stayed at IP the last few years.

Saturday: After turbulence and a less than smooth landing to the airport, we arrived at IP. We've actually done good w/the slow elevators during slow seasons, but it was the first time we came in middle of summer. DANG they were slow! It wasn't until Sunday we too advantage of the back elevators which nobody seemed to know that it swings around to towers 1 and 2 also.
We got 3-day Monorail tickets and off we went to MGM to see David Copperfield. I had never seen the show, and boy was I underwhelmed! It was alright, but I've seen him doing great stunts on tv, and I guess it is now the semi-retirement toned down version of his show. The only other magic show I saw was Steve Wyrick just 15 months ago, and it is now hard to believe his show is gone. I thought his show was pretty dang great and more electrifying.

After that we tried to get on the monorail again, but it broke down. The crummy part was that there were no signs to say it broke down, so tens of folks who bought one-ride tickets were screwed. We took a taxi for the first time in 15 years, yowza, to get to Harrahs. I have only one gambling story to tell and it is for Monday.

    Sunday:
As I mentioned before, we only eat breakfast at the diner at IP becuz all we need is a muffin and coffee. Alas, we did a first and went to McDs next to Harrahs. It was nice and clean and impressive the prices weren't skyrocket high as they were at the food court near Circus Circus (we haven't been to that side of strip since 2003). We went to Fashion Show Mall/Wynn/Palazzo for the first time ever. Fashion Show Mall was great in that we loved the food court variety there. I had a chicken crepe, and I hadn't tried that before yum. We saw the fashion runway show and shocked it is not advertised more. We sat the floor above to drink milkshakes and get a bird's eye view. We had no idea where the models were going to start walking, and then one part of the stage slowly rose up to reveal this cubicle where the models came out of! Ingenious!

Here was the gem. We had to get to Wynn for Le Reve, but we did NOT want to eat costly food at Wynn. I kinda regret not doing much research because there was a deli at Wynn with okay prices. So we would kill time at Palazzo, walk back to Fashion Show Mall, get to-go-food and eat it at the Wynn. At Palazzo, my FEET WERE KILLING ME! My so-called athletic sandals were hitting the bony top of my feet. Luckily there was the Walgreens nearby and we had no idea again that prices were okay and no inflated. I got great pair of flip flops for 8 bucks. So back to Fashion Show, we got KFC, and yes, we were actually going to sit down at the Wynn to eat it and gamble too. HOWEVER, I guess Mr. Wynn didn't want anyone sitting around at his fancy mall cuz there were NO benches! Even his flower garden had no benches!

So we saw the Wynn Sportsbook with its comfy chairs and privacy desks. We ate our KFC and took power naps there. I was impressed nobody bugged us to leave. Might I say we appreciated the desks.

After the refreshing naps, we went to see Le Reve. It was fantastic! I was stunned to see only 60% capacity or even just around half for the show. Most of the top seats were empty. I wonder if the price is going to drop if they want an audience to come.

After that we went to Harrahs again to eat at Ming's Table for a late night snack. Even though we stayed at IP, we don't eat at IP. I thought they had great dimsum, but noticed as many have said that they are short-staffed and quite busy even for late night. We also ate here again for Monday night, with a to-go order. I thought they had the best eggrolls I had ever tasted! FYI for anyone, I think it is better off to order to go. The emcee had to multi-task and what a burden!

    Monday:
Today was kill time at Flamingo and Planet Hollywood. First, we did the freeslots tourney at IP, and peaking at the winning scores for the first hour, I knew we wouldn't make the top 5 and wouldn't expect a winning phone call to pick up the prizes. We had never been to Flamingo, at their flamingo garden area was lovely. PH was two-fold: to see the pet theatre and eat at their buffet for the first time with coupons. I LOVED their lasagna, sundried tomatoes spread, and their Cheesy Italian chicken! Very impressive. The only minus at PH, and I dunno if this is a new thing, was getting harassed by random club promoters in the front. It was annoying as in they insulted us because we ignored them. Dunno if they only covered the afternoons cuz in the evenings the porn slappers were around (I could tolerate them because they don't yell and accost us for ignoring them!) We went to the pet comedy theatre, and loved it since we love pets. I understood they couldn't do the whole show with cats, but what they did was splendid. I guess that stripper bar next door was brand new cuz I don't remember it 15 months ago. I NEVER buy souveneirs, but bought a gem at the Houdini magic shop.

    Tuesday:
We left this morning, but I wanted to tell my gambling tale. After some miserable slot plays, I got to Lord of the Rings on late Sunday. BOY, I wished I started playing earlier! It was tons much funner, with a short attention span I have, and would and could have played it all night/day. The lady next to me had 77 miles and pretty much covered nearly all of the 8 bonus games you earn. I finished with 9 miles and never got to my third bonus. I was hoping that NonHarrahs casinos near my homebase would carry it, but I guess it is only for Harrahs casinos.

Imperial tips: use the back elevators behind the 4 main elevators. Seemingly few know about this trick.
If you want coffee, the Burger Palace is open 24hrs (if you don't feel like going to Harrahs/McDs). However, it is really costly coffee for a burger joint. The maps they give you are outdated, the tea place is now House a GoGo.
