Going down for one day and wanted to rent a car. I was shocked when Sixt quoted me $81 (before taxes and fees) for an econcomy car for one day. I immediately checked the other rental car agencies and the rates were high, but not as high as Sixt. I know that it's week 3 of March Madness, anybody know any other reasons?

I ended up getting a car from Payless (cheapest one INSIDE the rental car terminal) for $55 including taxes and fees.

No clue... but Hotwire is advertising an Economy from Payless for $45, which includes taxes and fees as well.

I usually use Hotwire to get cars. I suppose if I really didn't care what company I got it from I'd use priceline and name my own price. I've never tried that though.

I'm seeing a full size for $24 at Hertz. I think you just need a better discount code

Yeah, I guess so. I'm Gold at Sixt. Last month, I got a car for one day for $21 (including taxes and fees), maybe they're pissed off at me and trying to make it up.

if you are going from the airport and don't care about the car size.
you should try price line and name your own price. I usually start at 15-18 dollars a day for economy. they only use national chains, and you will "prepay"
otherwise expedia has almo compact for 38.
