    My Trip Report

The CET Asian Marketing Appreciation Dinner (South Bay Edition) was held last night at the Mayflower Restaurant in Milpitas, CA.

The hosts previously had 2 dinners in Sacramento and San Francisco, this was the third and they were returning home tomorrow.

It was a big affair, easily 12-14 tables (10 persons per table). I lost track because they added two tables.

OK, what I've figured out is, to be invited, you 1)have to be Asian, and 2)You have to have an Asian Marketing host.

There were several Asian nationalities represented. There were Filipino, Japanese and Chinese at my table.

One of the interesting things is sitting down and trying to figure out who the gambler of the family is . . .

1)It's not always both of them, and 2)It's not always the male.

Sat with my "Auntie Doris". She recently made 7*. She brought a non-gambling guest

Seven Stars and select Diamond members (DAL1 or DAL2, I'm guessing) were invited and were allowed one guest, and there were raffles that only the invitee would participate in.

This years version was Reno/Las Vegas only. I don't know what happened to Lake Tahoe, and I will ask my Tahoe host when I see her tomorrow.

My "date" for the evening was "A", a colleague of mine who also gambles. She hit two $8000 VP jackports this year, but doesn't concentrate her play. I invited her to this dinner because 1)She is a gambler, and 2)Her mother is Filipino, so she has an Asian connection, and 3)She enjoys seafood.

It was a lavish spread. the closest thing to it was this menu, and there was only one substitution (the Fried Chicken)

Special dessert of the day (Egg Custard in a pastry shell)

The MC and host was Kevin Winters, the GM of Harrahs Reno, the Las Vegas Asian Marketing Manager was also there. I didn't get his name. He mentioned that his HQ is Paris, and he has Asian Marketing Staff at all of the LV hotels EXCEPT Caesar's.

There were raffles aplenty, the top prize being a $4000 bottle of brandy

At least two $2500 FP winners, several $1000 FP winners, many $500 FP winners, a couple of iPad Minis, and a couple of BOSE speaker sets.

My bad luck year continues, as I was "shut out", of the 5 invitees at my table, three of them won raffle prizes.

It was a lively evening, but I didn't add to my "nest egg" for tomorrow.

Had a discussion with my aunt's "date", since he's a non-gambler, he didn't quite understand how the casino could afford to spend so much money. I told him, "they'll get it all back . . . ", "and more . . . " my Aunt added. I explained to my Aunt's friend that many of the 60-70 invitees were 7* members. To be a part of that club, you have to give them in a MINIMUM of $250,000 in action. My Aunt said that she didn't, until I explained to her what action meant.

I explained to her that it takes a MINIMUM of twenty 2500TC days to make 7* (2500TC plus the daily bonus of 5000TC = 7500TC). A 2500TC day is at a MINIMUM $12,500 in action (coin in). 2- x $12,500 = $250,000. I also explained to her and her date that coin in means just that. If you put in $100 and are able to put it through 5 times, that's $500 in "action". The minimum values are based on slot play only, with NO additional bonuses (such as the Q2 TC multiplier). For VP, it would be $500,000. Since my Auntie and I "take advantage" of the bonuses, our coin in could be a LOT lower. I know that I was the recipient of at least 40,000 bonus (above and beyond daily bonuses) TC this year, and that would account for between about $65,000 and $100,000 in action.

Making a round trip in the rain. At Harrah's Lake Tahoe for season ski lift passes, and a quick trip to Reno to pick up FP.

    I also verified the following:

1)Promo chips are "play until you lose"
2)I can keep my host in Las Vegas (if I'm happy with him, which I am), and he can book me at any Las Vegas property. I met a host from Harrah's and may try my luck there In 2017.

Thanks for the food porn. Looks delish; wonder why they don't do the same thing here on the east coast.

    So, two questions:

    1)Is Tahoe your "home property"
2)Do you have a host in Tahoe or Reno?

You need to have an Asian marketing host at your home property. If either Tahoe or Reno are your home properties, PM me and I'll let you know who the Asian hosts are. I will be in Tahoe this weekend for the lift ticket promotion.

Nice! Buddy of mine got that lift ticket promotion as well I was somehow left out of that one :(. Tahoe is my home property. However I gave Reno some play last week for the first time and had a host come down, introduce himself and give me his card. (Definitely not from the Asian gaming department).

Currently my host in Tahoe is "Zhe" Keri Li, I've never met her face to face just by emails so far. I'm totally new to this whole host relationship thing.

I don't think I have PM privileges yet with 3 posts under my belt. But thanks for your help and keep up the trip reports I love them!!!

I will see if I can find her or talk to her through my Tahoe host Lei Qiao. Since Tahoe wasn't a part of the Asian Marketing dinners this time around, (and I don't know why) I will have to find out what happened.

You forgot to add 3) you have gamble enough to qualify to be 7* or so.

Too bad, I fit the bill for #1 (I am Asian) but not #2 and certainly not #3.
