We have a group heading out to Vegas this weekend, but most of the group will be arriving late Wednesday night.

We did some research and determined that the Sports Books typically close at 11 p.m. (or when the last NBA or MLB game ends), so we will be arriving too late to get any Masters bets in on Wednesday night.

The Sports Books (Mirage in our case) typically open at 8 a.m. Vegas time, 11 a.m. EST, which will be after several groups have teed off.

My question for those who bet golf is whether you can make bets on the winner of The Masters after the first groups have teed off on Thursday and how quickly the Sports Books adjust the odds based on the live performance of the players out on the course?

Very unlikely. Props much like a game line come off the board when the event/game starts. Depending on the book, you may be able to bet on head-to-head matchups for Thursday. I have seen some bets that will pick 2 golfers and pair them in their own fictional match, that you can bet on.

exactly what he said. in february, on a thursday morning, cannot remember if it was the northern trust or the next week, was at the sports book, happened to be at the d. to cash a bb ticket from the night before, and to make a bet on the winner of the golf tourney. too late at 8, they had already teed off, with the time difference between georgia and las vegas, even more too late for the masters.

Thanks for the responses. It turns out that some of my friends are scheduled to arrive at 9:30 on Wednesday night, so hopefully we will be able to get our bets in on Wednesday night.

Good luck! And I hope no ones betting on Phil :evillaugh

If it was my money, it'd be on Kuchar. Playing well and might be a blessing he lost that playoff to avoid the jinx of winning the week before a major since only 6 guys have done it and gone on to win the major.

At many sports books the windows close after the late game has started. If you have a winning ticket you can take it to the casino cage after-hours. However, you might luck out with horse racing still going on and sometimes (?) you can place a bet at that window if the track is still running and you bring the proper input numbers for your teams / person.

I never understood why there wasn't an ATM type machine in the area where you could dial up the number of the team / player you choose to bet on, the ticket is shown in the window / screen for approval; you insert the money and punch "print" to retrieve your bet. What is the difference? Cashing could be like the TITO as well but I am sure there is more to it than that as to why it is not available.

    Good luck on the Masters.....

Because most people betting sports don't have a single clue when it comes to sports betting. That's the only reason for tellers these days. It takes 5 seconds to put down a bet, but invariably you always see some donkey in front of the teller taking 5-10 minutes to put down a $5 bet. That gets my blood-a-boiling!

They really need a shot clock in front of the window... once the buzzer goes off... back to the end of the line.

I swear if the soup nazi opened a sports book it would be the only one I'd ever gamble at.

as for a book being open late you can bet at a self-service kiosk such as William Hill or Leroys ( there may be more ) they are available 24/7
I think there is a William Hill kiosk in Riviera

I've seen these for horses but never for sports bets. This is good to know.

Don't some of the sports book have mobile apps that allow you to bet if you're in the state of Nevada?

Southpoint is open until 4 a.m. if you wanted to stop on your way in. It's a quick in and out. Cab would probably add $25 total to what the ride would have been.
