    My Trip Report

Background: 5 Couples from Nebraska making the annual pilgrimage to Sin City for the weekend. 3 of the couples, along with myself, are regulars on the trip. This year I made the decision to take a gal with me, as well as invite a new couple on the trip -- the husband being a Vegas Virgin. Previous Fall Couples Trips have went off without a hitch, and we saw no reason this would be any different, other than I would have to entertain a gf while trying to have fun! All five couples fall into the 30-48 age range.

Flights: Southwest Direct both ways out of Omaha. No problems with the flights, love Southwest direct flights. The only way to go. It's about a 2:15hr flight, and you can still catch it for under $300 if you watch carefully. Well worth it. Only complaint I have is the flight attendants that SW puts on the Friday Party Plane to Vegas --- I just don't understand why they don't put fun loving people on this flights. Our group always sits clear in the back, closer to the booze, and so that we won't bother anyone else. We like to drink as many drinks as we can in the 2 hour time window, and inevitably we end up with a sour-puss for a flight attendant. This one was no different. On the flight home, we were pounding them again in the back of the plane and had an absolutely wonderful flight attendant. Why not switch them around???

Friday: Arrive in Vegas at around 3:30. With our big group we booked a Stretch Escalade from Presidential Limo. Driver was waiting in Baggage Claim with a sign made out with the name of our Vegas Virgin. Driver was accomodating when we asked to stop at the Budweiser store, then the Strat to drop off one couple, and then on to the LVH....wasn't sure if we'd get charged for this or not since it was over our allotted hour of arrival service. We tipped the driver well and ended up without any additional charges.

Arrived at the LVH in time to get our first FB bets in. Took Cincinnati ML that night and lost.

Sat in the sportsbook a while, had a couple beers and proceeded to the craps table with the Vegas Virgin. He is a great pal of mine since college and likes dice at the Indian casinos. Bought into a $15 table and within an hour I'd turned my $300 into $800. He'd turned his $200 into $0. Welcome to Vegas my friend.

It was now time to gather the group and head to the strip for our Annual Trip to Battista's!!!! Battista's gets beat up pretty bad on this board, but we absolutely love it!!! Called ahead and got on the list. Was told 3 hours on the phone. Took the rail to the strip and tried to find ways to hold the group off --- as a couple people in the group are impatient and hate to wait. Couldn't hold them off, so we got to Battista's 2 hours early and decided to saddle up to the bar. During this time, we lost one couple as the wife had too much fun on the way to Vegas and needed to get back to the hotel, more specifically the bathroom and bed. LOL. What a weak link!!

Ended up getting called at Battista's before we could finish our first beer --- which for us is not that long!!! They managed to cut 1:45 off our wait. Love it.

Enjoyed our meal -- settled up...proceeded to watch Cincy not cover our bet on the way out of Battista's.

Back on the rail and to the LVH --- grabbed our bags from the bell desk and headed to VIP checkin to get our rooms. They had rooms blocked off for us on the 20th floor, all together. More on the LVH later....

Been a long day --- way too many drinks and now with a stomach full of food --- everyone hit the hay by 11pm Vegas time. Saturday will be a day we need our rest for anyway.

There's day one --- 2 and 3 to come when I get another break!!!!

I am enjoying your story! My husband and I have been trying to find other couples who love Vegas like we do and would like to make the annual pilgrimage with us. Alas, we have not found anyone yet. We'll keep trying and you keep writing about your trip so that I can live vicariously through you! lol

More to come soon.....too busy at work lately to get a chance to write!

For Shoylman - I hope you enjoy your LVH visit. A couple observations...

    1. Request a Central tower room. Of the 5 + 1 elevators in the North tower, only 2 worked the entire weekend, and I saw no efforts to improve the situation. My guess is that no one wants to incur the expense during the takeover...

    2. Good, quick, inexpensive food is to be found in the Superbook Deli... Can't go wrong there.

Good luck.....I love the LVH....but it is showing the signs of the times.

    LVH Tips

Thanks for the heads up on the elevators in the North Tower. Right now they have us in a Suite on the 24th floor of the North tower, will check the elevator situation before we check in.

    Saturday - October 27th.

Wake up at 7am Vegas time, and head down to the LVH sportsbook to find my two buddies already sitting at a table, staring at the board, drinking screwdrivers. Gotta love Vegas!!! We grab two tables in the main book area of the LVH, as we plan to be there all day long. We make our initial bets, and then grab breakfast at the Sportsbook deli. The deli is really good, and I highly recommend it for a quick bite.

As the morning moves along, various members of our traveling party make their way down to the Sportsbook and say hello. I think it was about 11am before all 10 people had checked in!! LOL.

The women scatter to do whatever it is women do in Vegas???? The 5 men stayed at the book and bet games all day long, anxiously waiting for the 5pm game of Nebraska and Michigan. Our plan was to bet Michigan and bet them hard....as we know Nebraska simply isn't very good. We were getting a favorable line, but then the Michigan QB got hurt. Game over for Michigan and for us.

Overall a bad day of betting CFB....but a full day of drinking beer. After the game, we hit the LVH buffet for a nightcap at around 8pm. Some people went to bed at this point....others headed to the strip for sightseeing.

As you can read....it's a very low maintenance crew. The boys are happy if the cocktail waitress brings at least 3 rounds of Budweiser an hour, for the entire 12 hours or so that we sit in the book. The girls are just happy to get away from us!!! LOL.

Sorry Saturday was so boring --- I promise Sunday will be better!

    Sunday, October 28th:

This day started off like all the others....the men were up by 6:30am to get down to the sportsbook and ordering Bailey's and coffee.....along with a couple screwdrivers. It was time to look at the board and figure out the NFL!!!

After getting in the early bets, the women started to crawl out of the elevators and join us. We decided that it was time to hit the strip and get some sun.

The Margaritaville Casino Bar was the rally point for the 10 of us. Some of us got there before others, but it was a great time. Had the best bartender I've ever had. He was quite a performer. We enjoyed the bar because the games were on, and the bar was on the edge of the Flamingo, with the front opening to the outside. So it was basically a covered, outdoor bar. After a couple hours here, the bar tab got quite high --- not a cheap place to drink. Only bad thing is that the restrooms are a mile away!!!

We decide to move the move to our favorite outdoor strip bar -- the PBR Rockbar at PH. Get there and it is packed!!! No room for us....bad part of traveling with 10. Time to bet the second round of NFL, so we lay our bets in Planet Ho, and make the trek all the way down to Hooters.

Hooters was my pick...and a tough sell to the crew, as it is off the beaten path, and quite a walk. I promised open seats at the bar, and free beer if you even sniff at playing the bar tops....so that was it....here we go.

After several free rounds at the bar top, we order wings....and they are great as always. I actually like Hooter's wings!! A few more beers and it is time to get closer to home.....

But we only have 45 mins until kickoff of the night game, we have tickets to cash at PH, and we need to lay our night bets at the LVH, so we can cash them in the morning.... And to add to it, I never miss seeing Faith Hill do the intro to SNF, and I'm not about to miss it while in Vegas. What are we to do??? We have a time problem....lol.

Simple solution --- I send the 6 weakest links across Tropicana with the purpose of hitting the monorail at the MGM and getting to the LVH in time to lay our night bets. Turns out, they took me literally and jumped the barricade in the middle of Tropicana --- lucky they didn't die in that mess!!! LOL.

I take the others and hoof it to Planet Ho to cash our winners and hopefully catch Faith on the big screen. Long story short, I watch Faith, while sweating my nuts off and trying to catch my breath in PH!!! LOL. I need to get into shape.

After cashing the winners and catching my breath, I gather my crew and hoof it to the Paris rail station and grab the rail back to the LVH. We all watch the first half of the night game at the LVH --- and now it's time to make the Pilgrimmage downtown!!!!

Downtown Night Stories to come ----

Side note --- we went 8-1 betting NFL on Sunday. What a run. Thank you David Banks.
