    Trips to Las Vegas:
    30
I am putting the finishing touches on my mega trip planned for Easter. First half of the trip will be solo and the second half will be with my Vegas running buddy and fellow VMBer DBueler. Big brother Champster I will miss as he is heading out to Vegas with his wonderful new wife/my new SIL in March for MM.

My trip is 10 nights total with 9 full days as follows:

First four nights in an Augustus Luxury King room at Caesars (Solo), including two offers, one for $375 in slot play and one that is $250 in resort credit and $75 in slot play.
    Two nights TBD (Solo)
Last four nights in Augustus (w/DBueler while she is staying at her "home" base, the Flamingo), including one offer for $300 in slot play + my 7* $500 folio credit.

Flying out JetBlue Even More Space seat nonstop and returning on Virgin America, first class (yay!) connecting through LAX, using my $1200 7* annual flight credit. Flights are all set. Woo hoo! Fun things planned include Barry Manilow on April 10th for DB and me and Diana Ross on the 11th for DB and me. Booked last night. Yeah! I may see Showstoppers again (it is FABULOUS :blowkiss: ) and DB and I will definitely hit all of the Diamond Lounges, have a slew of good meals and may do one Diamond Show. I'll also see the conservatory and Faberge exhibit at Bellagio and might have tea at the Mandarin Oriental. I am 7* but still get a thrill from coupon runs so will try and fit that in. I'll be spending time at Qua every day while at Caesars and will get my every-trip-facial at Bally's ($99 - 25% 7* discount) and other spa or beauty treatments at Qua and Michael Boychuck (hair and nails the day before I return to NYC :) ). I'll also make a trip downtown because although I am a strip gal I do like the old school/Vegas feeling of downtown; my favorite place downtown (don't shudder), is El Cortez. I will miss seeing Mr. Gaughn.

I would like some guidance regarding the middle two nights and yes, I have read every thread in the past year re: Wynncore and Bellagio. All of the info has been fabulous (many thanks to the Wynncore gurus! :nworthy:) and has informed my thinking but I still haven't quite decided. I'm leaning, however, towards PAYING for a Encore Resort room but at a really good rate.

I have stayed at Cosmo a number of times in the past comped, once in a Terrace one-bedroom suite. I am so-so on the casino (I wish it were a bit bigger) but I love the rooms. I have wonderful memories years later of taking a nap in my terrace room during an April trip with the terrace door open and faintly hearing the Bellagio fountain music in the distance while a gentle warm (not hot so just right!) breeze blew in. Nirvana. I used to get free play but with reduced play the free play has fallen off. For about 6 months I've been getting a standard offer of a non-terraced (so I assume city view) room for two nights (Sunday through Thursday) or non-comped Friday and Saturday but with $400 resort credit. The city view room is not all that appealing to me (I stayed in one about a year ago) but I can get an upgrade at check in to a terrace room for $30/night, so $60 for the two nights. Can't remember if I'd have to pay a resort fee as well but I think I won't have to do so. I am Sterling at Cosmo.

I stayed at Wynn many years ago on a basic room comped teaser offer during a trip when my bankroll was pretty limited so I didn't play as much and haven't received a comped offer since then. I've historically been a center-strip CET gal (but that is changing for all of the reasons that have been discussed on the board recently :grrr: ) so the north strip was never my thing. But I just love the elegance of Wynncore (strolled through there to see Showstoppers in January) and with a more demanding job and bigger bankroll, I now place a greater premium on stellar surroundings and great service to help me really relax and recharge during what are typically 7-9 day trips to Vegas before returning to the real world.

I have no comped offers for Wynncore but I signed up for the Wynn Insider and for the two days I need to fill in I can get a rate of $129/night by booking 60 days in advance (30% off) for an Encore Resort Room. If I prepay for the room the rate is $119 (35% off, though nonrefundable/noncancellable), which I think is incredible. At the 30% off rate with the resort fee and taxes all in, an Encore room comes to about $350.

But, I have also been reading about the Tower Suites. Half of the breakfast for two would be wasted on me as the two days would be when I am Vegas solo, but for the two days I need I can get a Wynn Tower Suites Room for $245/night and then there's a $100 resort credit, but with no resort fee, so all in it's $550 - $100 resort credit (and I would definitely have $100 in charges), which comes to $450 for the net cost of the room, about $100 more for the two Tower nights than an Encore Resort room. I had tried to see if I could get the $100 resort credit for the Encore Tower Suites as I would prefer the Encore spa but it didn't seem to work.

I think I'm a low-middle roller? I typically play 3 or 5, sometimes 10 hands, of quarter VP (DDB Double STP) and $3-4/spin penny slots though I am playing blackjack more as the smarter move. I would be at most, however, a single black chip player. I know Wynn is not great with comps but I am thinking my room or some additional charges at least might get comped off at the end but even if they don't I like the idea of enjoying 2 1/2 days at Wynncore, possibly even longer even though I have a comped room at Caesars. I met a Wynncore host at the John Legend NYE 2014 concert at Cosmo and she said if I ever decided to stay at Wynncore to let her know, so I may send her an email after I book my room. I won't be expecting anything so anything she may do after the fact I'd consider a bonus. I expect that I will not leave the property during my stay there and will enjoy playing and dining there as well as the pool, fitness enter and spa (especially if I stay at Encore). :)

My final option is 2 nights at the Bellagio at a promo rate of $99/night for a basic resort room. I know the Bellagio rooms aren't all that great (I'd prefer Caesars Augustus) and neither is the spa (I'd probably use Qua while there as it would be comped for me), but I love the elegance and size of the casino, the machines and I had a great blackjack newbie experience there last April, when I turned $1000 into $4200 over 10 hours of $25-$100/hand blackjack at a good rules (S17) table.

Bellagio is also appealing because I need an alternative to CET and Mlife seems like the next best club. (I won't drop CET completely but will this be my first and final year as 7*). Rooms would be meh for me with no fountain view but I love the casino.

Cosmo for $60 and a terrace would be lovely to enjoy. I like the casino but don't love it and the it's a one casino players club.

Wynncore is my preference, in part because the best rates in months just happen to fall on the two days I need to book. In the future I will probably be taking at most 1-2 trips to Vegas a year rather than 3 or 4. With a good rate, I wouldn't rule out paying for some Wynncore nights on top of some hopefully comped Wynncore nights in the future and staying at Wynncore primarily (with a CET stay thrown in), assuming there remain, at least at the Wynn, some good blackjack rules.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts. :peace:

Personally, I'd probably go with the Cosmo room and pay to upgrade to a terrace. If you don't care about future offers from Cosmo, walk next door to Bellagio and get established there.

For me, paying that much upfront at Wynncore with the HOPE of getting it comped off on the back end wouldn't be an option, but I'm also never in Vegas for 7-9 day trips.

I would contact a host at either property. In the past, I have contacted host at mlife, Cosmo, and SLS. They check my play at CET and have made comp offers.

Also , can I ask how you were able to get on 2 offers at Caesars without 48 hours between them? I'm in Vegas around the same time as you and would love to put 2 offers back to back.

Thanks Justmare and Newmans for the responses. I am still undecided though Newmans I think I will email my old host at Cosmo and the host I met at Wynncore and if a better room pops up comped at Cosmo or a room pops up comped at Wynncore, I'll go with the latter.

Regarding your question re: 2 Caesars offers, I mentioned this a bit in one of the recent posts about the changes at Caears but here's what I learned -- up until about 2 weeks ago -- had been the policy at Caesars apparently for quite some time that I never knew. The now OLD policy is that you could in fact combine two offers, as long as the combined consecutive stay was not more than 5 days AND the two offers were either two "LV" offers (which tend to be resort credit offers or resort credit with small slot play offers) OR one "LV" and one "Y" offer. A "Y" offer is typically a big FSP or electronics (TV, IPAD, etc.) offer. What you couldn't do was combine two Y offers without 48 hours in between stays. In YEARS of going to Vegas, I never knew that and yet two different CET phone reservation reps shared that info within me within the past few weeks. I booked the two offers for my first four days in early January and indeed the reservationist in 5 minutes (no host required) took care of it.

Fast forward to last weekend when another offer popped into my account for April that I wanted to combine with the offer I already had for my second 4-day stay at Caesars. The person on the phone tells me the long-standing policy was changed within the last week and that no offers of ANY kind can be combined. You need to have the 48-hour break between any and all offers. What I booked in early January was "grandfathered" in but what I did in early January as of late January no longer became possible under Caesars' new rules.

    I would go with Encore.
Cosmo's rooms are ok but the casino is simply no good.

I just finished watching -- for the umpteenth time -- Ocean's 13, which I viewed as a "sign" LOL that I should stay at Encore. I just booked THREE nights actually, even though I only need two, as I don't like the idea of rushing my enjoyment of the property. I will likely lop of the last night of my first four-day Caesars stay, in which case I'll be checking into Caeasars for the last four days of my trip around the time that DBueler arrives to check into the Flamingo, so we'll be just across the street from each other. I thought about adding a fourth night to my Encore stay but I've got some time to decide.

I have also sent the host I met on NYE a bit more than a year ago (her initials are AB if anyone knows her) to let her know I have booked at stay and though I don't have expectations of comps I'd appreciate her taking a look at my play on the backend. So, I'm all set. Thanks everyone for your advice. This is the first time I've paid for a room in a while but the financial hit is not much and I'm really looking forward to enjoying Encore and Wynn.

You made the right choice girlfriend!! You book the hotel that makes you most excited about the trip...... Even if you pay for the room THIS time, the money is secondary as it's an affordable rate. The fact you're looking so forward to it will make it easier for you to move mid-trip AND you're only obligated for a few nights if it ends up not being as awesome as you thought. I'm willing to bet your room at Encore is as close to center strip as your "Siberia" room was last trip at Caesars Octavius... LOL!!

Thanks DB! Can't wait to see you in April! And so true regarding the excitement and my hike from the end of the hall in Octavius. LOL.
