    My Trip Report

Easter Sunday: Flew from MSP to LAS, arriving just before 8am Vegas time. Headed to rental center to grab our rental which we ended up upgrading to a mustang convertible for a grand total of $200 for 6 days woo! Headed out to Plaza to check in, picked up Aunt and Uncle at the airport and back downtown to start our vacation! Ate brunch at Hash House a Go Go, but unfortunately was unimpressed with my meal, but oh well!!

Our room at Plaza was very nice. Very clean, updated and large! I can vouch for others in that the atmosphere in the casino at plaza isn't great, but I proceeded to gamble there anyway, taking advantage of the Free Play rebate up to $100.

Day 2: Spent time at the pool, headed back to gamble for a while. The rewards desk recommended that I work with a host based on my play (this has never happened to me before). I worked with a host, Oscar, and obtained a $100 comp for Oscar's steakhouse for the 4 of us. What a phenomenal meal! Best filet I've ever had, terrific drinks and great service. Spent the rest of the night on Fremont.

Day 3: Checked out of Plaza, ate breakfast at DuPar's which was very good. Get the pancakes!! Checked in at Excalibur to begin our Strip stay. Our room was.... Let's just say I will never stay in their standard room again.
That evening we headed over to meet for dinner at my Aunt and Uncle's home base over at Tropicana. Ate dinner at the Café there which was decent. This began my best gambling run ever!

Playing slots, I was able to hit for $300, then for $600 both at Tropicana and without dropping anything back. At this point I'm heading out to meet up at Paris with a new friend I made while downtown . She must have been my good luck charm. After losing about $100 I hit my biggest jackpot yet, $2000! :drunk:

Day 4: Picked up my Uncle and played a round of golf at Los Prados Golf Club. I had picked up a deal on Groupon and was well worth a fun diversion. The club itself is rather outdated, in a gated community. The course though, was a fun sporty, short course that was playable and in great shape.

After the round we headed back for pool time and to get ready for the evening. I wanted to take everyone out for dinner at the patio at Comme Ca for their special burger/drinks. Well, turns out the patio was booked for a function that evening... So we stayed in the bar area for happy hour. Although not impressed with the drink prices, everything else was fantastic. The burgers were great, the oysters were awesome and the shrimp cocktail were huge!!

Caught the Blackhawks game in the cosmopolitan sports book and hit the strip for the rest of the evening. :drunk::beer::drunk:

Day 5: Last full day, we headed to mid strip for the afternoon/night. Ate at Harrah's Oyster Bar and was one of the best meals of the trip. I highly recommend this place!! The oysters were fantastic, the drinks were good and everyone's dishes were incredible. This is a 5 star restaurant that I have not seen mentioned.

Headed out to the linq and the new O'sheas, staying out until about 3am. After getting back to Excalibur and having a bite to eat I decided that I needed to try Craps before we had to check out. Keep in mind, the only Craps I've ever played was on my phone. The open table was $10 min and even though I was leery I knew I wanted to play. Put down $100 and proceeded to play for about 3 hours, cashing out with $675. Took a 10 minute break and went back for more. Grabbed my $100 in chips and after another 2 hours, cashed out with $800+. By this time it is 8:30am and I have not slept.

So after all that blabber, I would say that I had a great trip. Having had a couple of the best meals in my life, working with a host for the first time (not the last) and meeting someone that could be a lifelong friend. Ahhh I love Vegas.........

Thanks for reading! :wink2:

Thanks for the write up and congratulations on the wins! Oyster deals especially buck a shuck are always on my radar, does Comme Cà still have a happy hour special? How about Harrah's oyster bar?

    Congratulations!

That is really a great trip! Runs of good luck are few and far between (at least for me), so enjoy it.

I will be going to Las Vegas in a couple of weeks and will stay one night at the Excalibur after a late arrival. I will just use it for a bed and then move for the remaining 3 nights. Can you expand on your problems there?

I heard bad reviews about the Luxor before my stay last December, but I really loved my room there, even if I am not a fan of the hotel and casino layout.

Congrats on a winning trip! Sounds like you had a blast! Too bad you didn't stay at Trop instead of Excalibur, much nicer.

One of the primary reasons I wanted to go to Comme Ca was the $1.25 oysters on the deck. Unfortunately we were stuck with $2 oysters in the bar for happy hour. Still not too terrible. They were very good. Mixed it up with some east coast, some west coast.

The oyster bar at Harrah's is where it's at though... Great oysters for $16/dozen on the regular menu.... That's my new fav place to eat

I absolutely am enjoying having some luck... It's fueling a fall trip!

As far as the Excalibur goes, here were my observations (keep in mind I stayed in Tower 1 I believe, unrenovated): The carpeting is rippled everywhere and beaten to hell, you enter the room and the A/C is pumping out a moist cold air (if that makes any sense), everything was dingy and old. Trust me, I'm not even complaining... it is what it is. It was a room with a bed. I just would have made a different decision for a couple extra bucks had I known that they didn't touch those rooms since I was there when I was 12. :wink2:

My jackpot came on the .01 U Spin machine at $2.00 Max Bet at Paris. Only played about 20 minutes before it hit. 200000 credits on the big wheel. :nworthy:

I hit about $600 on a Buffalo machine at Tropicana. I threw my bet up to $4.00 and on the third try I had a few buffalo's and $600... Crazy!

I generally playing max bet on pennies (1.25 - 3.00) and quarter/dollar reel machines (.75 - 5.00). I played tables a few times for buy ins of roughly $75 which I generally came out ahead on. I was shocked to have been able to work with a host and I will certainly be calling to see what types of perks they can offer up this fall.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to read my long posts! I hope it was of some assistance!! I have learned a lot on this board which has helped to make my trips some of the best I've ever had, so thank you all! :nworthy:

Nice TR.Good hits! I do also like the oyster bar at Harrah's but it KILLS me to pay that much, when we have the best, Gulf Coast, oysters and pay maybe $6.00 a dozen. Oh well, it's Vegas, and I don't like to eat alone, but have felt comfortable at the bar there.
