I seriously don't have a head for math like a lot of you clearly do, so here's what I'm wondering: I am Peal MLife but I would like to hit Gold on this trip; I know that the benefits of one over the other are really minimal, but for shits and giggles I would still like to get this done. I need 23,000 points to Gold. The room and food are comped through a combo of MLife and MyVegas. I'm a slot player, but I've always played "specialty" slots exclusively in the past, without thinking about the tier credit difference between them and non-specialty slots. This trip, I intend to play only non-specialty, mostly because I don't actually like any of the specialty ones any more than I do the non. Roughly and very generally, what sort of play I would have to do over four days on penny machines at a 1-2 dollar bet per spin to hit Gold? How much would I have to "put through the machines", for how long, etc.? Not even sure how much gambling money to bring to try to achieve this. Any thoughts and suggestions would be good to hear.

Biggest mistake people can do is chase comps, you find yourself hung up on earning points and forget about proper money management, instead of cashing out a couple of hundred dollar slot win you chase the comps that might net you a free meal and or discount room valued at 100 dollars. That being said we all do it. this is on the FAQ website.

You earn Tier Credits based on your slot and table games play. For every slot point, earn ten (10) Tier Credits at participating Las Vegas resorts. Earn Tier Credits for your table games play based on the amount of time you play, how much you bet on average, and the type of game you play.

So roughly you would need almost 5000 dollars of slot play 2 dollars = 1 point, 1 point = 10 Tier credits. Not saying 5000 in money but lucky enough, I have earned 1000 points on a 20 dollar bill and I have earned 12 points on 20 dollar bill, depends how lucky you are.

Even if you aren't good at the math one way to look at it is: you are two thirds of the way to GOLD, so that means to reach GOLD you would need to gamble about half of what you did to get to this point.

If this is a 4 day trip you are going on and you got this far through only one prior 4 day trip then if you keep playing at the pace you were before you should get to GOLD about 2 days in to this trip...

But if this is a 4 day trip and you got to this point, two thirds of the way to GOLD, through four previous 4 day trips then you would have to gamble twice as much as you did on your previous trips just to make it by the end of this trip...

As for the math: the answer is $6,900 is how much you have to play through to make it to GOLD

You earn 1 base point for every $3 played through standard slots (more on specialty slots and VP)
For every 1 base point earned you earn 10 tier credits
You need 23,000 tier credits, that means you need 2,300 base points
    2,300 * $3 = $6,900

If you are betting an average of $1.50 per spin on slots that works out to 4,600 spins to reach GOLD... at around 650 spins per hour thats a little bit over 7 hours worth of play.

And remember to show your MLife card every time you spend at one of their properties because you get 25 tier credits for every dollar spent for things like dining, hotel fees, spa, show tickets, etc. - for every $100 you spend at the hotel that is tracked on your MLife card thats the equivalent of $750 in play through the slots for how many TCs it earns.

Does room service count towards dining or hotel fees if charged to the room?

One of your countdown timers shows Luxor, so using that as an example: if you go to McDonald's or Bonano's or something like that up in the food court you won't get any MLife credits for that, but if you do room service, Pyramid Cafe, the buffet or Burger Bar those would earn you points (as well as going to the spa, going to the bar, the club, ordering drinks at the pool, renting a cabana, etc) - and it wouldn't just be Luxor but any of the MLife properties.

I don't know if Starbucks would earn you MLife points or not (it seems like it does at some properties and then not at other properties) or if you earn points on paying the resort fee.

It would be easier to get enough credits from spending.
Just play your regular amount, and by day 3, check your bankroll. If it's healthy, play away. If not buy a nice dinner and you should be there.

The problem with this is that the room and as much as I will eat is comped.

Pearl earns 10% bonus points so I think it should be $6900 / 1.1 = $6272 coin through.

Then just pay it instead. It's cheaper unless you are on a hot streak.

Exactly, I'm close (ish) to gold too, but yea, dining and staying at an Mlife property would be much more beneficial than gambling... if you room is $500, you'd get 12,500 points, then 2 nice dinners $250 each (or show tickets).. that would do it right? Unless my math is terrible haha..

Anything charged to the room gets you points, or anywhere you flash your Mlife card will get you points. Like I'm pearl, so every time I go buy snacks, or toiletries, or souvenirs they ask for my card (to give me the discount), then I get credit for those purchases. Also don't quote me on this, but pretty sure if you are staying at Luxor, and go eat at Mandalay Bay or any other property, and you can still charge it to your room.

I agree about not chasing comps, blah blah blah, but if you are close.. I mean I'd rather give Mlife the extra money, versus spending it elsewhere, like why not go to Stripsteak instead of Striphouse, you were gonna have a steak anways, mind as well have it work for you... but I wouldn't spend extra money, I wouldn't have normally spent to get it.

I genuinely like playing slots, so I'm happy to do it for a few days. I just don't want to get home and realize that I missed hitting Gold by 200 points or something dumb like that.

You don't actually get bonus "base points" because of your tier. The bonuses apply to Express Comps and PointPlay (slot credits). You earn base points and Tier Credits at the same ratio of coin in regardless of your tier.

    BUMP!

Do the tier credits actually hit your mlife account instantly? Or does it take time to process?
In other words, if you hit gold on the trip are you going to see that on your mlife account right away? Or will you find out days later after you have returned home?

I'm pretty sure the thread starter or anyone else would want to take their gold card home with them!

I just never payed attention how fast the tier credits actually hit your account.
I would assume you would see gaming tier credits quicker than tier credits from hotel, food etc.. and may not show until you have already checked out and left town.

I asked this in another thread - I'm about the same amount from gold and want to make it during my next trip. The consensus was that tier credits pretty much hit overnight, if not sooner. It's usually really fast.

I am on a similar mission next month, as my countdown timer indicates. I know that it does not make any sense to chase MLife Tier Levels, but I'm only 6,900 credits away from gold and I just want it.

Like another poster mentioned, I would just bet the amounts that you are comfortable with and if you end up a little shy of gold, treat yourself to something nice at an MLife casino to get you over the hump. (Just make sure you give them your players card.)

This seems to be one of the most misunderstood aspects of mLife. To elaborate more... based on my observations:

If you put in your card that has 0 points on it, play a machine long enough to earn 100 points, take out your card and reinsert, the point balance will actually read 100+(100 x Tier level bonus). e.g. 100 + (100 x 20%)= 120 points. Behind the scenes, Tier credits are calculated based on the BASE POINTS ONLY (NOT including the tier level bonus), then the express comps and point play are calculated based on the BASE POINTS + the tier level bonus points.

While the Tier credit and express comp earning rates are different between Tunica and Las Vegas, the way in which they are calculated appear to be the same to me. (BTW - Don't try obtaining status in Tunica or Detroit...it is ridiculously difficult to do because of the much lower rate tier credits are earned at those locations.)
