He made millions laugh, and I wonder what exactly he was going through, knowing how many people got happiness from him. He could play any role, from the Genie to a woman, and yet his demons he could not overcome. I had hoped, sadly, that it was the drugs he had gotten into, instead of him taking his own life, purposely.

Damn...RIP to him and condolences to his family on their loss.

Depression is a mean SOB. It can overtake anyone.

I was never a big Robin Williams fan but I appreciate the joy and laughter he brought to so many. He was a talented man and is gone to soon. But take solice in knowing that God and our angels in heaven need laughter to and they will now be able to get it from one of the best.

Mr. Williams, you were fighting a battle no one but you could understand but I hope your soul is now at peace. Enjoy the real big stage up there Mrs. Doubtfire!

Very sad! I walked right past him on the campus of UNC, when he was there filming Patch Adams. I actually didn't even notice it was him until I just passed him.

Although I didn't think he was really funny, it's always sad to lose a person, especially this way.
    Very sad indeed RIP

His personal life was a mess.
Depression + drug abuse is often a deadly combination.
Being "on" and performing, probably took him momentarily away from his real life.
I heard this morning..........it's very sad.

One of the giants. His take on the Scots and golf is one of the most hilarious monologues of all time.

Yeah it was widely known in the mental health community that he suffered from bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression. I'm sad that the disease actually ended up killing him.
