Taking Photos in Casino

Is it allowed? Is there any rules about this?

I think it is allow and it also depends on what kind of photos you are taking. I've taken a few pictures while inside the casino and slot wins. The casino probably will not allow one to take pictures at a table game while people are playing. So, best guess is to use your own judgement when you are taking pictures inside the casino.

 

I also think it depends on who's working. Last time I was at the craps table, and returned a couple of texts. The next day, I got yelled at for doing the same thing. But, I think you're pretty safe at slots/VP.

 

A while back I was told to do it discretely. No pictures of people who weren't in your party, respect the privacy of others, etc. Not sure if this applies nowadays with practically everybody having a phone with a camera.

Looking at the pictures I see here, taking pictures of machines shouldn't be a problem.

 

It's still technically frowned upon even for slots. But the worst thing they would do is chastise you and possibly ask you to delete the picture/video. I've taken 100s of pics of machines and never have been told anything. With the smartphone era, it's not worth the casino fighting anymore. And with people posting slot wins, it's usually positive advertisement for the casino anyway.

 

In the lobbies they aren't going to have any problem. Anywhere else, you should try not to get anybody in the picture that you don't know.

Slot machines they mostly don't hassle you about. Table games, unless you're clearly just taking a picture of your own chips/hand, it's still pretty much a no-no. I've been at tables where someone whipped out their phone to take a picture and the players were on top of them before the dealer or box even said anything.

 

I used to have a list of which casinos allowed it and under what conditions. If I'm going to shoot in a casino I always ask either a uniformed security officer or a "suit" to be sure I'm getting the official guidelines. These often vary from day to day and from person to person. The last one I asked at (Rio, see my recent blog posting) they said to avoid tables and cage.

In the past, rules varied from no photos in the casino at all (Green Valley Ranch) to no restrictions (Circus) but most have some kind of guidelines. Tables, high-limit areas, and cage area are usually off limits. A Gold Coast officer just said to avoid getting people not in your party in the shots. I think Bally's is the only one recently where a "No Photos" sign is posted. I've also recently taken shots (obviously, up close) of the bands at O'Sheas and Paris with no issues. At O'Sheas a security guard was standing right there near me and he said nothing.

 

I take tons of pics in casinos. At table games just of the felt. No players. Vp games, no one cares. I'm not discreet. I have my phone on game or camera so I don't forget the vp porn. This is on the strip. The pics in our latest tr are mostly caesars w a few at Cromwell.

 

In Vegas, it's technically not allowed but the rule is not enforced. Take all you want, just don't take pictures of people you don't know. Now, in the Bahamas it's not allowed and I had a security guard almost tackle me when I tried to take a picture of my wife.

dmr states there is a not photo sign at Bally's. I've seen a no photo plaque at NYNY. I took a picture of it. Snap away. If there's an issue, you'll be informed.

 

Yep.. just a pic of a machine, or of your win that's cool. I've never been told to stop.

 

About 5 years ago I was told to stop taking pictures.
This was in NYNY in the area where all those little places to at. (Out of view of the casino).

The past couple of years I have taken both pictures and video without issue.

I suspect with all the little devices around and with phones now doing both video and pictures it doesn't make time to enforce it.

 

I still would not try to take a pix of the sportsbook odds board but who knows it's probably ok nowadays..I just remember that only 8 or so years ago ?simple cellphones were not allowed in the books and signs promenently posted..Think I'll try a shot this trip..

The older members may remember pre-cellphone days at the racetrack where they locked up the telephone booths during racing..

 

Both my wife and I have taken pictures of wins at slot machines in some Casinos and had no problem. However like some to the members have said take them discreetly.

 

Slot winnings and your own chips seem to be ok esp since its pretty much free marketing if you post them. Moreso the chips since they say the name.

 

A little off topic but this reminded me of a couple weeks ago at a concert I was at. The band's playing and everyone has their cell phones out taking pics and video. Then I notice some blue hair employee walking up the aisle telling people to stop it. Eventually, one of the 'no gooders' tells her to look out at the thousands of people, and look at how many of them have cells on pointed at the stage. I figured that she would chill out after realizing that it was a waste of time, but nope. She kept right on scolding and threatening.

 

At PH you can photograph if you step away from the tables. I've photographed the Pleasure Pit dancers before, and they will pose for you. The only exception to the photographs at the table was when somebody hit the million dollar six-card diamond royal flush. They allowed it because it was so special. It's probably good publicity for them too.

 

Casino or not, I try not to have strangers in my photos.

A few years ago, I was asked not to take a photo. The cage was in the background and I hadn't noticed. Fair enough.

Taking videos of folks who have been enjoying the alcoholic refreshments too much doesn't seem fair either. I expect more than a few of us have been in an unplanned condition we wouldn't want to share on you-tube.

 

I've taken many photos in NYNY over the years, never told to stop. IIRC the security guy said to avoid the tables and cage and such.

 

From what I can tell is don't get caught taking pictures of people at tables.
