We can piss away a lot gambling, but taking a cab is not in our DNA. We want to see a show at The Orleans. To get from MSS to there, how would you do it using the buses? One night only and probably returning to MSS around 10 PM.

I have also emailed our host about a comped limo, but still waiting, as usual, for an answer.

Joe: We went from the Orleans to MSS on our June trip using the WAX and 201 (Tropicana). You already know where to catch the WAX downtown, buy a 2-hour pass for $1.50 each, and get off at the Trop. stop. From there, you'll have to cross over to the NYNY stop and wait for the 201 – about every 20 min. The stop at Arville is right by the Orleans. Of course, the limo beats all if it works out. Good luck!

There's also the free shuttle from Orleans to Ballys, instead of the city bus.

That's true, but taking the Orleans shuttle from Bally's won't do the OP much good coming from MSS! Of course, he could take the free shuttle from the Fremont to Sam's Town and then the other free shuttle to Harrah's, hoof it Bally's, and then catch the Orleans shuttle, but I have a sneaky feeling that Joe wouldn't want to do that.

So apparently I am at my limits on comps from MSS and not only won't they arrange a ride to Orleans, they won't comp me 2 fricking tickets to the show.
I really don't feel like taking 2 buses to Orleans. I went to the NV Taxicab Authority site but all their estimates are for a cab from McCarran to Strip hotels.

Is there another site that you can plug in 2 locations and get a cost estimate for a cab? If not, I'll take best guesses. I'm not a cab guy in Vegas. We get the comped limo to and from MSS and every once in while we'll take the WAX to the Strip.

I have cabbed from Orleans to Downtown several times --usually with a group of four. Expect anywhere btween 30-45 $ dpending on driver route time of day. Definitely tell the driver no strip. Interstate to trop is best if not during rush hour'

Joe: You know I very seldom drive in Vegas, as I don't need a car most of the time and won't drive when drinking – which is all of the time! Nonetheless, if you can forgo some Cabernet, renting a car just for the day from MSS would probably be less expensive than a single cab ride. What ya think?

Sorry for what was a duplicate post. VMB was acting strange for a few minutes! BTW: How do you delete a post entirely?

If it was a noon show, then maybe, but 8 PM, it isn't going to happen!:beer::drunk:

I don't believe you can delete a post, just edit it. That's why sometimes you'll see duplicate posts from members.

    I totally agree with Turtleman.
However, if two buses freaks you out, just get a cab in the NYNY circle. From there the Orleans is around $10. You can easily figure the WAX on the way out by looking at the schedule of times next to Binions, and that bus will be just as fast as a cab. You get out at MGM, cross the intersection to NYNY, walk into the circle and grab the next cab. Do the reverse on your return and you save $$ over a cab, unless there are 4 of you.

Avoid taking a strip bus just before an 8PM show. Crowds.

Now, let me add that I'd personally never do that.
If I started the day at MSS and had an evening show at the Orleans, I'd skip and hop from one place to another along my route. There are dozens of things to do.
    Here is one possible agenda.
I'd start on the free shuttle to Sam's Town for the early morning poker tournament where $28 gets me a long, long time with poker.
I'd walk up the Eastside Cannery because I'd have a free buffet coupon there. I'd eat lunch. Poke around. See what was the current deals were.
If it was a Thursday, I'd walk back to Sam's and see the FREE Toast of the Town show at 1PM

Other days, I'd take the 202 right from the Eastside parking lot. I'd probably stop once somewhere along Flamingo, but if not, I'd ride all the way to the Gold Coast, check out the free lounge music offered that day, perhaps do some matchplays at the Palms, and then using an American Casino Guide coupon, I'd earn 200 points at the Gold Coast and get my supper buffet.
The free Boyd shuttle would take me to the Orleans for my show.

After the show, I'd take the 201 to NYNY and the WAX back to downtown again.

    OH, OKAY....honestly I would not
    if I still had energy,
I'd take the free Orleans shuttle to the back end of Bally's, walk the short distance to Ellis Island and get a late night steak special (no wait at 10 PM) play a bit, drink a little cheap beer or wine and the walk off the late night meal by walking down to the strip and taking the Deuce back to downtown (or the SDX if I was early enough before midnight)

Now, if you compare what that sort of trip might cost in cabs, you can see the real advantage of all access bus passes.

Good advice. We've also cabbed going from Orleans to NYNY to catch the WAX. Sometimes we just don't feel like schlepping luggage from the Orleans to the eastbound 201 stop, and again from the Trop stop over to NYNY, especially if it's raining or very windy. The entrance to NYNY is very close to the bus stop, so it's very practical to duck into the casino if you have time to kill, want to play a little VP, and get some refreshment. Most of the time, however, we do take the 201, which shouldn't be a big deal without luggage.

One time when I was going to the Orleans from downtown with luggage, and the weather was particularly yucky, I stayed on the WAX to the airport and rode back it to NYNY. Of course, now with the additional terminal stop, that would take longer. So many choices!

I liked to go to the airport and back when going downtown to the Orleans with luggage just to avoid schlepping the luggage across the intersection to the NYNY stop
However, it is still unclear exactly what the 201 does when it hits terminal 3. Does it immediately turn around and head back to terminal 1 and then to the strip? Or does the driver take a break there at Terminal 3 while another 201 starts out after that driver's break?
Perhaps on my next trip I'll just take a ride on the 201 from the Orleans without luggage and see what happens.
If we had to switch buses at Terminal 3, or worse had to wait fifteen minutes for a driver break (having missed a 201,) then that would be a real time dragger.

Dewey: I suppose you meant WAX instead of 201, as the 201only goes east and west along Tropicana and never to the airport. I'll call it a "typo."

I'm not 100% sure what the WAX does after Terminal 1, so it might be good to ask the driver.
