Does anyone know if Theo Per Trip (TPT) is...

    a) the average of the number of days you actually gambled during a trip?
    b) the average of the number of days of your trip, regardless of no-play day(s)?
    C) the cummulative theo generated during the length of a trip?

I am just curious, as my theo numbers are all over the place, while my average bet is relatively level. My short-play trip oddly, has the highest theo, of the past three trips, but has the lowest average bet. UTH is the primary game played for all my trips. I've only begun to keep track of my ratings during the past 3 trips.

I kind of have an idea of what brought down my theo for my latest trip. For the first day of the trip, i was not able to hit the gaming floor of the home casino until around 2:00am. I believe I read on another post that a new gaming day begins at 3am at mlife properties. This would mean I was only rated for one hour on day 1. The rest of the gambling hours occured on day 2. If TPT is based on the average of the 2 gambling days, then by starting my gambling so late on the first day hurt my theo.

Honestly, I am not sure what you mean with option C, but the answer is B. If you are staying at an MGM property, your theo is determined by the total number of hours played on that trip (regardless of how many hours took place on any given day) divided by the number of days booked for your trip (e.g., if you book a room for three nights, it's considered a three day trip). So stay away entirely from worrying about whether you played enough on any given day. You could play 9 hours on one day or 3 hours on each and your MGM theo would be the same. Your theo on your most recent trip is probably less because of the other standard factors that go into calculating your theo (what did they record your average bet as, did they record the correct number of hours at the table, etc.).

BTW, is TPT your term or did you see it somewhere? I'm just curious because I have never heard of it before. Thanks

What? I have honestly never heard that before? I am probably not understanding you. Are you saying that MGM determines theo annually?? Or that the theo is adjusted based on every ADT recorded in a calendar year? I am clearly missing something here

I assumed it would be "B", but I guess hoping it would be "C" (running total for the trip)...lol. One thing that can hurt me is when I do 2 night weekend trips, but have the room booked for 3 nights, so that I can keep the room for the afternoon on the day I leave.

I will post my theo when I get back to my desk, but the more I think about it, the more I believe the latest theo is more inline with my avg bet/time, than the theo I had for my short-play trip...something wacky must have happened with the rating on that trip.

As far as TPT goes, this was the first time I heard of it too. The VIP Services rep used the term when I was asking about the variance in theo from my past trips. He was not able to, didn't know or didn't want to share, the means of determining TPT. He basically just explained it as a formula that calculates the theo for the trip. He did mention that past trips are a factor in the formula, but could not elaborate more. Just when I thought I was getting a handle on this, he just totally left me clueless again...lol.

Sindustry, just a thought if you are concerned about maximizing your ADT, only book the two nights but request/pay for a late checkout. Don't know if that is feasible for you, or if it even reduces the number of days for theo calculations, but it is something to consider

Good to know. As for the reference by the rep to past trips, I would guess (and mind you, its only a guess) that the rep is referring to the upfront comps. I think its pretty typical for marketing to look at the past couple trips (not just the last one) when estimating what to give you upfront. Maybe that what they meant .....

Also never heard of that? One year avg? No way! Bottom line all that matters is current trip avg and hours. That's it. But, if you have a relationship with a host he/she will look at past play to see what kind of upfront comps they will give you. Or if you haven't been to their property for lets say 10 months and want upfront comps then they will look at past trips. Also, if you have a host they will know or you will tell him you got in late and wasn't able to play that day. Or you were leaving early the last day and they wont hold those scenarios against you. Just play and try not to worry about your Theo. You aren't playing for comps anyway..

    correct,

if u have a good relationship with your host u can get more and if you play less on a trip, it wont hurt u,its a give and take and by honest with your host.

but otherwise mlife looks at your trip wich is considerd 3 days of play then it resets and will determine your extra comps from that

they can look at your play over the whole year and other mlife properties just to see the type of player u you are , i just had that happen to me, one property at mlife hopping to get me into theres and theres nothing wrong with that as i have a proven mlife history of strong play so there taking a shot. smart business move

i play for relaxation but if i want to go to shop or a meal i expect it but i have to meet my end also, dont put 100$ in the slot and go to aria weres my free room or meal

I think you're right, packer. And maybe the OP meant what you wrote about having to look back many months if you haven't been to the property in a while ....

I have never heard of TPT. Are you thinking of ADT?

It's all about theo in the end. You can do it in one day or over the trip. Hit your expected number and your host should take care of you.

The TPT acronym threw me off too. Up until this point, I have only heard of ADT and ATT.

At any rate, here is what MB rated me for the trip:

    Avg bet: $245
    Hours played: 6.5
    Theo: 848

    Games played:
UTH (majority of my play): ante bet ranged from $50-$100
Crazy4 (roughly 45 min): ante bet ranged from $75-$100
FBBJ (roughly 1 hour): one to two hands at $200-$400 each hand.
Pai Gow (roughly 20 minutes): $100-$200 a hand.

In comparison, my trip at Mirage in June my theo was 1341, with $214 avg bet, and for 4 hours 23 minutes of play.

Comparing the two trips, the theo from this MB trip looks about right, while the Mirage theo now looks way over computated?

    Paperposter ?????

I come to Vegas but only book ONE night at MGM and gamble there for ONE DAY only so how is a trip 3 Days I was there last week with a $870 average for 2 hours?

so how is ADT counted with MLIFE?

It depends what game you spend most of your time playing. I'm not sure about the HA on those games listed above, but if you spend a vast amount of time playing the lower HA games (also depends on hands per hour), you will generate a lower theo.

I have no idea what he meant by that. Maybe the average trip length? But regardless, if you booked one night, whatever your ADT was for the two hours of play, that was also your ADT for the trip. As stated above, on a trip staying at an MGM property, they determine your ADT based on the total number of hours played divided by the number of days booked for the trip. in your case, that was one day

OK thanks I did not get anything comped except the room for one night. Only stayed there one night and played there one day.

I don't play for comps since I don't get anything else comped except for the room.

thats considerd one trip ,a trip for mlife i asume u took a room is up to 3 nites . even if no room and your not local its a trip in mlifes book..

so your rated 2 hours at avarage bet 870 , i asume u know they want 4 hours a nite , bla bla blah , i cant do theo someboady else can , but if i cut than in half for the 4 hour comp you did 435$ average, they wont bitch.

im local so mine doesnt show like others , they look at it as i just walk in and play its sperate not trip evaluated, for me thats good,it gives flexability to play for an hour or 2 then come back in a few days or a week and not be penilized.they can see in the month of june i played 10 hours at 800$ average bet and used no comps so they can comp the crap out of me if i need it.

I ASSUME THAT ANSWERD UR QUESTION , I HAD A TALK WITH MLIFE PEOPLE LAST WEEK TRYING GET SOME MORE DEATAILS. 1 TO 3 DAYS IS A TRIP SO IF YOU DONT HAVE A HOST AND COLD CALL MGM AND ASK FOR A FREE ROOM THEY WILL LOOK AT YOUR LAST TRIP, IF YOU HAVE A HOST HE CAN SEE YOUR HISTORY ,U CAN ALWAYS ASK THEM TO LOOK FURTHUR BACK AND LOOK AT OTHER MLIFE PROPS TO SEE YOUR REALY ARE A PLAYER, BUT WHAT POPS UP FIRST ON THE SCEEN IS YOUR LAST TRIP.

REMBER 3AM STARST A NEW MLIFE DAY

UN FUNNY STORY I GUESS I PUT A COUPLE BUXS IN A SLOT MACHINE AND GOT NO TIER POINTS SO THATS WHAT POPPED FIRST WHEN SOMEBODY CHECK ON ME, I GOT A GOOD CHUCKLE BECUEASE RIGHT UNDER IT WAS 800$ A HAND BJ RATING BUT HE DIDNT LOOK PAST THE ZERO NO PLAY,

    OK thanks.

I only booked one night so MY Host could book my trip. I didn't need the room but had it just in case I got screwed at Cosmopolitan. (which I did City room) I did visit the host desk and they said my play was fine and then asked if I had any charges and looked up that I had none. ..

Aria was good with my Play and just said if I needed anything to ask. I had won money so I'm good with that.

I was just wondering about a trip counting as 3 days? I usually only just book 1 or 2 days at each casino as I don't stay long and only do it so My HOST can book the room to get me tagged to HIM OR HER.

PaperPoster we need to meet up on one of my next trips. Blackjack killed me lost every shoe I played but Baccarat was great.

Unless im reading this wrong, you were there for one night and charged for 3? You shouldn't have been. You checked in and checked out at the front desk right? That has never happened to me in 25 years! One night is one night and so on. They cant avg your play over 3 days if you were there only one! I would raise hell. It is about doing the right thing and them knowing you don't want something for nothing. Unless I have this wrong.
