Not sure where to stay

After reading reviews here on the Luxor I am not so sure this is where we want to stay so I am looking for suggestions. We want several dining options, $250 per night is the maximum we want to spend, location near several casinos. I have limited mobility so its important also for easy access to and from other casinos. Its been a long time since we were in Las Vegas and so much has changed Aria was not even built the last time we were there. I welcome any suggestions.

 

For $250,- a night you can get a great room, if you look at smartervegas.com you can see which hotel has good offers on the dates you are visiting
Aria has great rooms by the way, should be well within your range, or are you visiting in the weekend?

 

We will be there over a weekend April 8-13. I know its a long way off, but I want to stay in a nice hotel.

 

I looked at the Aria site, and that's the most expensive weekend to stay there in April,must be an event or something?

 

Look at Bellagio or Caesars. Luxor is not that nice and not a great location. Don't stay at Aria if you have mobility issues. It's not so close to other casinos. You could spend a few days in Caesars and never leave the property.

 

Vdara, only place I stay now, this far out 250 would almost get you the penthouse, no casino, no smoking, mobility accessible rooms available and since it next to aria just a monorail ride away from 12 hotels

What 12 hotels do you get to from Aria?

 

With that budget you should be able to afford better than Luxor. Don't forget to factor in tax and the $28 resort fee. So you are really looking closer to $200 a night to leave the buffer for the extra fees.


What are you looking to do on your trip? Dining? shopping? shows? gambling? Help us get a better idea... Also know, the higher class the higher class the amenities.

Personally, I think the best location is Paris and Planet Hollywood. Not the best hotel rooms, but definitely have the best location and some of the best amenities on the strip. You can cross the bridge to Cosmo, Crystals and Aria. Right across the street from the fountains. I would look at all the 4 star properties MGM Grand, Mirage, Mandalay Bay, Paris, Planet Hollywood. Those are nice than Luxor, and have far better amenities. On a weekend you should be able to get them for between $100-$175 a night (pre tax, resort fee). Personally I would price all those options out and go with the best deal, all very similar in quality. Definitely check smartervegas.com, you probably won't see many promotions that far out until maybe January. If you see something you can always book it and refund it if you find a better deal (most direct bookings allow that).

When I go with my family, my mom has fairly limited mobility, she just isn't willing to walk miles and miles, tires easily, and she doesn't like the pedestrian bridges. We find the best way to do Vegas is to just drive everywhere. Even then, still a ton of walking, but that allows us more freedom. We've found we really like Vdara and Trump, because it's an easy in and out, no long walks to the room, no smoking.

 

Not sure about your demographic, but most middle age women or older I know who want something nice in a good location would probably pick Bellagio.

 

11 MGM + Cosmo are on that monorail line...ok Cosmo is an elevator ride down the stairs ..but still

 

I would choose Cromwell. It will fit into your budget, it's across the street from Bellagio, Caesars, and Mirage, has numerous casinos nearby from Wynn south, lots of great dining opportunities, the pool and the clubs may not be your thing, but the atmosphere is fantastic.
The Cromwell will tend to your needs. I was there in May and will again in 3 weeks.
If you have limited mobility, the Cromwell is right in the middle of the Strip.......... and it's small and intimate, so the employees will do everything to make you feel comfortable.

 

disagree, Vdara is no casino and no smoking and security before the elevator asks to show your room key before they let you NEAR the elevators

my 30-something wife found that very reassuring... I'm just saying having Mosadd guys in suits backing drunks from even thinking about the elevators makes women of all ages feel comfy

Curious...where did you stay your other 20 trips?

 

We are mainly slot players to answer an earlier post. On our other trips we mainly stayed at Excalibur we always got offers for free nights but not necessarily happy with the accommodations, NYNY a few times always seemed to get stuck with views of garbage bins and roof tops so we started staying at Flamingo the past few trips and have tired of the property. This trip my husband said to book a suite and looking at Luxors Pyramid Suites I thought I had found the perfect accommodations, but now have reservations given some of the information I have read as I stated earlier.

suites are very nice at mirage, location is very good and maybe consider renting a scooter...i couldn't be without one.

 

Not sure what age group you are in... but if you are not in the twenties... you would probably enjoy downtown better than the strip with limited mobility. Downtown casinos are right next door to each other. I get a scooter for my use and can reach a dozen different casinos within 5 min. and the food is wonderful at reasonable prices downtown. Try staying at The D or Golden Nugget if you like a particular nice room for well under $250 or a suite if you'd rather. After walking long distances on the strip for years... I love the convenience of downtown. If you insist on the strip... Bally's is centrally located and I heard they had redecorated their towers lately.

 

You might want to consider Hotel 32 at the Monte Carlo. There are several casinos nearby and the rooms are all suites I believe. They get good reviews for their service.
