How the hell is this even possible? Bellagio, one of the biggest, most crowded casinos, is vulnerable to robbers with guns?!

I wonder that too. Although I am guessing that hotel security must be told to let them go and not confront them and to let the police handle it...which works in the robber's favor because he can get lost in the crowd before police respond.

Not the first time Bellagio has been robbed. In most places, I would guess policy is to let an armed robber flee. Last thing you want is a hostage situation or flyers striking innocent patrons.

A couple years back a guy robbed them for 1.5mil in chip and got away on a sport bike. He tried selling cranberries on Craigslist or something like that.

Yeah, he was a total idiot. His Daddy was a judge so he got off pretty light. 3 years. He wouldn't shut up and started talking about it on a message board and offered a couple of $25,000 chips to one of the members.

I used to work at a gas station, and the first thing they tell you during a robbery is to just give them the money and let them go. Just try to remember as much about them as you can. You don't want someone with a gun getting upset, and start shooting. You just want them out of there as soon as you can. That's why a lot of bank robbery's don't have big shootouts. They tell them the same thing I'm sure.

Was it cash or chips this time?

It would be funny if the robber was someone who lost a bunch of money earlier that night.

I can't say for sure what I would do if someone stuck a gun in my face through a cage window, but I think my first reaction would be to fall to the floor. It's a cage with bars, not like a bank teller window where somebody can come over. I've never seen the Belliago cage, but I assume it's like all other Vegas cages with bars.

I never thought of this but a very good point. If the employee did fall to the floor there is no way the robber can do anything but run.

But it's easy to speculate when you're not the one staring down the barrel of a gun. Also I'm sure the workers get training as to how to respond exactly to scenarios like this one.

And a pissed off and scared robber with a gun in a crowded casino is not good.

Yep. I worked at a bank a long time ago and they told us the ONLY priority was to get the bad guy out of the building as fast as possible. Do exactly what he tells you to do. The money is insured so just get the guy to leave.

That is what I would want to do, but i rather just give him the money so he just leaves and doesnt hurt anyone else. Besides when he shots me the bullets will just go right through the wooden desk :/

Remember last year at drais all the guy wanted was a 30$ refund and when they refused he ended up killing one person and injuring 1 or 2 more.

Blows my mind that people think they can walk into a casino and get away with a robbery like this.

By the way, I was NOT at the Bellagio at the time :ssst:
