Harrah's AC is a pretty nice resort, but I have never set foot in Harrah's LV. Anybody out there ever stay there? What other hotel/casinos would you compare it to? Any good restaurants? How is the gaming? How are the rooms? Does it have a nice pool?

I would assume you are familiar with Bally's in AC, also can compare it to Tropicana in AC. Harrah's in LV is similar to that, except Harrahs LV has better dining options. I have never stayed there, so I cant comment on that aspect. But for a good lunch/casual dinner Kerry's Gourmet Burgers (KGB) has great burgers in a unique atmosphere. Toby Keith's restaurant is also a good casual eatery, more cajun themed food. There is a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for fine dining. I have read that the pool is awful, one of the worst on the strip. The casino tends to be very crowded at night due to the relatively narrow aisles and is pretty smoky. about half the dealers know very little English and are very robotic. This isnt the place for you if you like to interact with your dealer. The slot mix is average, with a lot of older machines. Video poker paytables, like most Caesar's properties, are not good. I have seen some hellacious long lines at check in while playing there. Location of Harrah's is what is key. Valet there has always been efficient and friendly, it is just a pain getting back out onto the strip heading south. Harrah's is behind Planet Hollywood and Paris, but ahead of Rio and Bally's in my opinion. The piano bar is always packed so they must be doing something right.

Erik's description is solid. Decent food options. In addition to KGB, I like Mings. It's just generic Asian food, but its decent, inexpensive, and quick. I agree the casino is crowded and smoky. The players I have interacted with seems to vary form the drunk and friendly crowd that is enjoying the low limits to the frustrated and angry folks that feel like they are high rollers because they are betting $25 a hand but aren't winning. I actually like Ballys more, but that's because its less smoky. It definitely ranks behind Paris and PHo in terms of quality

I was in Harrah's last week. It seems they have "lightened up" their casinos a bit. New carpet, machines less stacked together, giving it a more open feel and look. New VP machines. I disagree with the dealers,at least three card. I have had some good times there with their dealers. Only stayed there once, several years ago. Rooms are below Bally's I would say, esp. since Bally's rooms have had great upgrades and if you can get the Eiffel Tower, Bellagio Fountain view, at Bally's it can't be beat. IMO

I stayed there in May, and as the above poster stated, they have replaced all of their carpet and opened up the casino. Lots of old and new machines. They also had walls up that showed they were constructing a new, upscale food court, which will be a great addition to the already (as stated above) good restaurants there. The hotel rooms are good, decent rooms for a good price. I have no problem with Harrah's, and will go back in the future.

Harrahs was a Holiday Inn when it was built, years ago. The pool is the original, a rectangle. You need to decide what tower you want as there is a Carnival Court bar outside and the music does bother some people.
I will say the location is good, across from the Mirage and Caesars, TI.next to Casino Royale and McDonalds, then the Venetian to the north and the the ex imperial palace now known as the Quad but changing to the Linq. Of course you have the High Roller behind the casino and the monorail station.

    Agree with above.

I would add that the rooms are what I would call a 3* - mine was not the recently renovated set, so it had tube TV, older beds, view of the parking garage, bathroom I think had marble countertop and dated tile floor, shower was dated but decent water pressure.

At the end of the day, a place to lay your head for a few hours and do the 3 S's. But not a place to spend much time.

EDIT: Also, can't stress enough how terrible the pool is. It belongs downtown.

It's boring. It's very standard in every sense of the word.. it's an older property. Kept up decently, but the rooms aren't remodeled. Good location. It's considered a low tier property. It's not that I wouldn't stay there, but I can't find much reason to stay there, unless it was the best deal or something..

I'd compare it to Bally's and Flamingo and Luxor.

Finally, someone said it---harrahs is a bottom quartile property in LV. Nasty, ugly, old casino with the lousy gaming rules CET has nationwide. No reason to stay there unless price is your main concern.

I'll be there for a night next week. Then on to my 3 nights comped at Palazzo. I've probably stayed at Harrah's a total of 6 times and can put aside the age, etc. in lieu of the location and the ability to just walk outside onto the strip without having to hike a quarter mile from the casino just to get to the strip. I find Ming's and The Oyster Bar great value and eat there regardless where I'm staying. I am interested to see the room that I booked which is marketed as a "High Roller View". As a Platinum, this was a free room and it sounds like an upgrade from other more standard rooms.

If AC is such a shithole, then why is Harrah's AC apparently a better casino than Harrah's LV from what people are telling me here?

Because for some odd reason, the Harrahs properties outside LV are nicer than the one there.

    I like the Oyster Bar.

I think Harrah's is the most downtown of the Strip hotels. Low ceilings, dark, small rooms... I think it very much has its place though. Not that it doesn't belong among all the palaces and megaresorts, it provides a variety.

We generally stay at Harrahs twice or three times a year - in a "Premium" room or above. It's nothing special, certainly an older property, but the rooms we have stayed in are clean, we've always requested and been given rooms away from the Carnival Court. They normally can give you some pretty decent (relative) upgrades when checking in. The location is great and the food options (both within the property and just a short walking distance) are good. We particularly enjoy the Oyster Bar and Toby Keith's (decent cover band on weekends). Also enjoy the $5 craps tables (generally after midnight, unless it's a slow time). All in all I find it to be just fine for a clean place to sleep in a good location. Don't expect a resort or large, spacious property and you won't be disappointed.

Stayed there 2 years ago.....room was very nice-smallish, but very functional...Make sure you DO NOT get rooms above the outdoor carnival....the noise outside is very loud well past 2am....Casino was very, very crowded every time I have been there.......and finally, KGB burgers are awesome !!!

Have stayed at both. The A/C Harrahs is a way nicer property. Vegas is okay - just not as nice as the A/C one.

Walking out the front door in A/C is nothing. Not even another casino for a mile.

Walk out the door of Harrahs in Vegas and Mirage is right across the street. Venetian on one side, Linq on the other. It is Vegas Baby!

Harrahs in AC is slightly nicer on the inside, if you're contemplating which one to stay at don't – Vegas!

Not all rooms are small--and I always book the cheaper choice, but have only had a smaller room once & it was a solo trip so no big deal. It had darker wood as well. But usually the rooms are decent size.

Harrahs AC - AWESOME! One of the better casinos in AC... Harrahs LV - compared to other casinos in Vegas - not so much.
Note: I am a huge fan of Harrahs Las Vegas - if for nothing else... location location location!!! If you walk out of the door - Mirage is directly across the street. Casino Royale ($1 ATM fee) directly next door. Venetian is just past Casino Royale. Entrance to the Mall in Caesers is just to the left of Mirage entrance. You can walk from Harrahs, through the Quad, through Margharitaville, through Flamingo, to Cromwell - pretty much indoors through 99% of the walk from Harrahs to Cromwell...

Rooms are nothing to brag about, but clean - a place I can rest up, go to sleep, shower, change, etc.
Lower limits can usually be found at Harrahs as compared to other strip properties in the area.
Dealers are hit or miss - mix of cool and not-so-cool dealers.
Cocktail service has generally been good for my wife and I in Harrahs.
Pool, as others have mentioned, is a rectangle - VERY PLAIN AND BORING. As one of the OP mentioned, it used to be a Holiday Inn before Harrahs took it over.
Again... it's no Bellagio, but I'm a fan of Harrahs LV.

Harrahs AC much nicer than Harrahs LV though.
