I have enough My Vegas to get two free Comp Bonus nights at either Excalibur vs New York, New York. They're also reasonably prices to make it a four night stay for the cost of two nights. I'm also a 36 year old male who is looking to be somewhere close to Planet Hollywood where a conference I plan to attend is. Which one of the hotels is better room, food and entertainment wise? Don't want to go off strip because I would be a first time Vegas visitor. Not worried about gambling because I like spending money on food and shows over slots and craps.

    NYNY without a doubt.

It wins in every category over Excal.

Unless there was a category of "smellier of the two" and then Excal wins.

I disagree because the Excalibur wins in 1 other category and the would be cheaper price!!!!!
And how could you not like the smell of Vanilla, Weed and Smoke?

I have to respectfully disagree with Rock on a couple of points. I think Excalibur has a much better pool than NYNY. Especially since Excal as an adult pool that only charges $10 p/p to avoid the screaming kiddies (not available at NYNY). Excal has larger rooms and you do not need to worry about the coaster noise, not a problem if you plan to go to bed late. I do think NYNY wins based upon an easier haul to Planet Hollywood, far better dining choices, better drinking options, including ease of navigation to The Pub next door at Monte Carlo. Never have used the gym at NYNY but I have at Excal and it is surprisingly good.

All good! I have stayed at NYNY twice and enjoyed it but never Excal. We have walked through there a couple times and that is all I have to draw my opinions on. But we did enjoy NYNY quite a bit.

NYNY by every metric of positiveness. Excalibur is a pit that puts even the old IP to shame.

I would pick NYNY. I have stayed in both - with kids at Excalibur. When we stayed in NYNY the coaster was right outside the window & we never heard it.

I do NOT like the casino at Excal--dark & depressing. NYNY is dark but energetic.
I do believe EXcal has better rooms & pool.
NYNY is a bit closer to PH...

    Yet another Excal bash thread...cool

OP you are going to get opinions for both sides...Some like Excal...some like NYNY. I prefer Excal...I am familiar with the casino and hotel layout so I feel at home there. The contemporary rooms are really nice IMO. the pool is pretty nice. dining options are decent.

The Casino at NYNY has more "vibe" but it is VERY loud...which bothers me.

To each there own I guess...

NYNY is closer to PH...since that was your only criteria I would say you should stay at NYNY

I've never stayed at Excal, but I've stayed at NYNY 3 times. I would say there is better food at NYNY. The base room at NYNY is better than the base room at Excal, but you could probably upgrade to the contemporary room for about the same price (and you are using less LPs to stay at Excal anyway). Location alone the choice would be NYNY. If you are going to walk to PH (which is easy to do), just add another 10-15 minutes to walk from Excal.

I just had some friends come into town and stay at NYNY. It was good, room decent They still have good vp(no points) bad vp(points) and decent tables. Vibe is good and the crowd was laid back. Passed through Excalibur and stopped for 5 minutes for someone to use the restroom. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. Reminds me of just a step above Circus Circus. Did I mention the kids and ******bags?

Excal may be cheap, but NYNY hands down.

We were 10 floors up and still heard it.

    Overall NYNY wins.
There roller coaster noise and pool could be the deciding factor for some, but to me I would deal with it over dealing with Excalibur.

My wife and I love NYNY. Great vibe in the casino. Food ranges from cheap to moderate to expensive. A couple of different choices for live music. The pool is modest, but that seems to limit the amount of kids staying there (a pool like MGMs is flooded with kids). The rooms are very basic and yes, the bathroom is small. Beds are comfortable though and we aren't in the room much anyway. You can find a $5 craps table in the morning on weekdays, but it'll change to $10 for no particular reason at different times of the morning. The hotel is just a really fun place to stay and hang out.

NYNY!!!!!! I've stayed there 7 times and enjoy the theme and the hotel! Times Square bar is fun and the dining options are much better.

I stayed at Excalibur a couple of years ago, and got a really nice room for a terrific price. It was one of the higher end choices, but still very inexpensive. It was large, clean, decently appointed. The casino was a dud, however. I expected there to be a lot of kids, but it seemed that most of the people there were young adults with limited incomes. Anyway, I had a good time sleeping there and heading elsewhere for the gambling.
