Because nothing bugs a forum full of degenerate gamblers more than a progressive slot machine that hasn't hit for 20 years.

Because its been about 20 years since the last time the jackpot hit... so its been building up a pretty big prize ever since.

Originally these machines had smaller jackpots, down around the quarter million mark and were expected to hit before the half million mark. Eventually they got rid of all the machines except one and rolled the remaining jackpots in to the one final machine (whats there now) since they can't take a progressive jackpot off the casino floor.

And a big thing is: if you win the jackpot, you get the whole jackpot at once - all the other machines with really big jackpots pay out as annuities over 10, 20 or 30 years, but if you win the Lions Share you get the whole almost $2.4 million at once and rumour has it you get the machine too.

It's popularity has increased since getting exposure in the national media too.

There never really was a long wait to jump on but since the articles and newsclips have come out people are lined up to play it.

I was there Friday (two days ago) around 1:00 pm and there was one couple playing the machine. They had been playing it for about 30 minutes and then left. I only waited about 5 minutes until they left and when I lost fascination with it, there was nobody waiting to play. I wandered back past there about an hour later and there was still nobody playing or in line. I saw one measly Lion on the pay line in about 30 minutes of play.

    I'd probably sell the machine.

I was there 2 weeks ago and the slot guy that gave me my handpay on the Lion's Share said they rescinded that offer. That you do NOT get to keep the machine; but you do get the progressive of course.

I totally believe this. This machine is pretty famous now...after it hits I wouldnt be surprised if MGM reset it and kept it going. it has made them SOOOO much money! we ran the numbers a few pages back and if I remember right its on the order of $100 million Coin in...

It reminds me of the last remaining penny ($.01 copper coin) progressive slot machine that languished on the floor of the Plaza for years. It was right near the cage next to the rest rooms and across from their old poker room.

One of the poker dealers said how much the management would have liked to remove the machine but couldn't until the progressive jackpot was paid. (Well over $10,000.00 as I recall.) He then said, "When you think about it, it's really a great system. Pennies go in. They don't come out."

If they really wanted to get of the machine they could move it to another in house progressive. It happens all the time at GVR. They remove a poker progressive and add the amount on top of another progressive bank of machines. IGT has done it as well. Wheel of fortune was over 4 million once because another progressive was tacked onto it.

I think this one might be different since the jackpot is paid out in a lump sum...it might be categorized as something different. They would have to tack it onto a progressive of the same category...

There might be an issue there if something comes up like the Lion's Share progressive is a lump sum prize but most progressives that are that size (get up over $1M) might be annuities or could also be wide area progressives.

Because the machine is way overdue to release its jackpot and it could be you.
Don't walk but run to this machine because the jackpot can be released any day/minute now.

20 years.... if ever a machine was rigged, I'd suspect this one.

I suspect that is the reason why no one gets the machine if they win.
It's very easy to pull the ROM code from the chip and examine it for the reel stop percentages.

It appears that they could get rid of this if they wanted to.

Why does the MGM have this machine set where it is taking forever to hit and has not hit for 20 years? This is crazy..Can't they have a scheduled spin number for it to hit?
