    "Unreal City" by Judith Nies.
The author has spent decades reasearching the behind-the-scene struggle over power, land and water and just how fragile Las Vegas and the rest of the southwest USA is because of these issues.
It's also a tale of the clashes and secret deals between Mormon power-brokers, energy corps, Arizona Indians and govt agencies.
If Vegas is your only interest, there is plenty in the book on the life of the casino world. It also serves as a travelogue to people and places, such as how Laughlin got started 50 years ago.

Thank you, chef. I will add it to my queue on Amazon.

I never really knew that the Mormon's had much of a hand in Vegas until I listened to that Wynn interview that was posted and he mentioned his "Mormon banker" and how the LDS bank loaned him quite a bit of money.
