If I get a duplicate card (2 cards with the same account number), can my wife and I play in 2 different machines at the same time? Or will the system detect that there are 2 cards being used and cancel one out? Would it work if I was at the tables and she was at a slot (again, with the same cards)?

You can use more than one card for the same account at the same time. Both in slots, or one in a slot and one at a table (but at the table, the person whose name is on the card would have to be playing).

10 at a time might raise some eyebrows, but 2 at a time is standard. Yes, if anybody actually analyzes it, they can see that 2 cards are being used at the same time, but they don;t really care. All of the play on both cards will get counted.

I'm pretty sure they won't let your wife use your card at the tables but yes you can definitely do it at the slots, even if you're in different casinos.

I think Peachiekeehn is correct on this one. When I was playing at Caesars last month, a lady gave her card to the dealer before she started to play and the dealer looked at the name on the card and asked if she was William. She replied no, William is at the table next to us and yelled at William to wave. The dealer said she could not use her husbands card but welcomed her to get her own card in her own name at the TR desk. I'm not sure if they will link them together on the same account but that dealer was emphatic that she could not use her husband's card. This was at a Blackjack table, not sure if the machines will negate the other one out.

We have tried that at the tables and it was a no go. Slots are OK. We have been told by lots of employees and hosts to play on one card if you want. But there were a couple of times we were told only one player per card in CET.

At tables, as long as you are playing together, just ask for your play to be combined. Never had a problem and I always ask for average bet so I know they are doing it.

You should definitely play on the same card except when the person not named on that card is playing tables. I'd get the card in whoever's name plays live games most and both play on that when playing slots. If the other person plays tables then have them get their own card just for that purpose. If you don't warrant a host you can still use both cards when checking the rate calendar and may get better rates than one card alone.

As was said above, yes you can.

But to add: you don't have to be at machines that are next to each other or even in the same part of the casino... you don't even have to be in the same casino.

If you and your wife will always go to Las Vegas together then you should put all your play on one card.

And if all the play is on your card then your wife should still get her own card (or vise versa if all on her card you should still get a card of your own) and then each trip for 20-30 minutes one day have one of you put play on the second card. This is because when reserving a room through the Total Rewards website there is a spot for "Companion Card" and even if that second card has little or no play it can still have a pretty big impact on comp nights and what quality of room is available: my wife has her own card and she hasn't used it in about 4 years (not even a single point earned) but if I enter her card as a companion card number I can get 2-3 more nights free and/or better quality rooms at better properties.

I've asked several times and wife and I have to have separate cards/numbers as they have told us.
TR visa, we both have cards with the same number.

If you ask, you most probably will be told they have to be separate.

In real life, as posted here hundreds/thousands of times you can use the same account in multiple machines with no problem. We do it often. Heck, some people play two machines at the same time and get credit for both.

We have always played on one card until I reached Diamond, then we started playing my husband's card. He had just reached platinum last December when he won a handpay. When the guy came to pay him he mentioned that he had just finally reached platinum and the guy told him we should both play on the one card. The terms say you aren't supposed to do that but they know most people do and don't really seem to care.

Its pretty much a case of whether they care or not doesn't matter: there are something like 75 million Total Rewards members out there now, worldwide... they aren't going to dig through all that data to find and do anything to the people that do play on one card.

Plus they couldn't really do any penalties for it because unless they had somebody physically go and check they won't know if its something like you forgot a card and somebody with no card is playing, if you accidentally gave a copy of your card to your spouse or friend, if somebody found a card on the ground and put it in a machine... just too many scenarios and possibilities to enforce.

So if my wife has my card and hits a big progressive jackpot then they won't care?

Nope, because its just a card. They probably won't even look at the card - when I have won jackpots and hand pays they just take the card out and either give it to you or put it in the coin tray. I don't think in Las Vegas I've ever had any of them actually look at my card on a hand pay.

I have won MANY handpays using my wifes card. When I win, I put her card in my pocket. I put my card and DL on the machine and wait for them to show up. Never a problem. NEVER.

How do you go about getting multiple copies of your players card?

Go to the booth on multiple days saying you lost your card?

often they will just give you two cards.

Just ask for two cards. Tell you lost your card or left in room. They will give you cards every single time you walk up there. I probably have a dozen of em.
