Mandalay Bay restaurants

Have a trip in Sept to MB and haven't eaten at any of the places, save Charlie Palmer, which I am definitely going back to. Any feedback on restaurants, both good and bad?
Specifically, thinking about hitting up:
Ri Ra
Hussongs
Burger Bar
Border Grill Brunch on Sunday
Buffet for Breakfast
Noodle Shop
Slice of Vegas
Citizens

Burger Bar is absolutely terrific. If you're up for two steak dinners, StripSteak rocks, too. But Charlie Palmer is hard to beat.

 

Border Grill Brunch on Sunday - Very Good food at Border Grill. I really like eating there.
Buffet for Breakfast - Buffet is solid. If you want to save a couple bucks grab a 2 for 1 breakfast buffet coupon from MyVegas. They aren't price
Citizens - I almost always have one of their fresh shakes with whey protein added for breakfast. Very tasty and nutritious if you're into healthy eating.

Charlie Palmers cut of the week is always a great value and a great steak.
Foundation Room has some really good food as well, and a view that can't be beat.
I'd stay away from mix right now, due to the construction.
Fleur is a solid meal as well, they have a lunch menu if you're looking for something a little higher end mid day.

 

It's not on your list but Red Square is a MUST for me when I'm there. Half price appetizers during happy hour, too!

 

I've had the brunch at Border Grill and highly recommend it.

Sorry to hijack, but does anyone have any feedback on Rx Boiler Room? It's on my list for September.

 

Noodle Shop was just okay. Really overpriced for ordinary Chinese food.

 

Third vote for Border Grill brunch. A very elegant way to "buffet" with small plates, individually ordered. My dad and I wound up trying 10 different things, I think, and they ranged from good to fantastic.

(Edit: I went and looked at their menu online. The only thing we had that was only "good" was the green corn tamale. We had more than half of the other items and they were all really good to, as I said, fantastic.)

 

-Border Grill brunch is amazing!!!! Make sure to add on the Mimosa's if you like them. They had 6 flavors last time I was there. By far my fav place to eat while there.
-Did not like Hussongs at all. We had bad service and bad food.
-Have not eaten at Slice of Vegas but I would not devote eating an entire meal there....maybe just pick up a slice at the counter.
-Citizens: Ate dinner there and it was very good. I had some sort of brick chicken and it was excellent. Prices are vegas prices but the portions seemed worth the $$.

I forgot to mention that I was planning on just doing a happy hour at Red Square to check the place out and maybe have a small bite.
Burger Bar yes, Hussongs and Noodle shop no.
Rx Boiler Room? I had forgotten about that one - anyone know anything?
Also kinda off topic, but isn't there a new prohibition bar or something?

 

We love Charlie Palmer Steak and enjoy Verandah (at Four Seasons) and rm Seafood. The new speakeasy (Bourbon and Burlesque?) is located next to rm Seafood just outside the casino on the lower level of Mandalay Place.

 

Rx is absolutely great we went there this last trip and man was everything perfect, from the old flicks on the TVs around the room to the décor to the staff everything was what I have come to expect from Rick Moonen. Heres a few shots.

I ate at both huggsons and slice of vegas (both with resturant.com gift certificates) during their happy hour and enjoyed both.

 

I have to +1 Border Grill.

Wife and I went last year and liked it so much, we just made our reservation for August...our next trip! Menu is slightly modified from last year, but still looks good. The $10 add on for the bottomless Mimosas are absolutely worth it (6 or 8 flavors).

Border Grill is the best! I go nearly every trip. The brunch is good, but you can also just order off the menu. Also sign up for their e-mail club and you get buy one get one free entree, and you can use it on the brunch!

Slice of Vegas was fine. Good late night food which is what we did. It's just pizza, nothing spectacular, but it's reasonable.

If it's in the budget, Stripsteak is excellent. Verdanah is also excellent for breakfast/brunch. It's expensive though, but it's really nice to be down in the secluded Four Seasons area.

Haven't eaten there, but I've heard their buffet is terrible. Though, for breakfast, how bad can you screw up eggs and bacon?

 

I can't imagine on what basis someone would call the Mandalay Buffet terrible. Every time I've been there it has been fine.

 

I went on this past trip since we were staying at Mandalay and on a whim used a MyVegas reward for the lunch buffet. It was ok but doesn't really compare to the high end ones (Aria, Wynn, Bellagio, Caesars), but it was WAY better than the paradise Buffet at Fremont or the buffet at Terrible's. One thing to note about the Mandalay buffet, they close down between meals so you can't for example come in on the end of lunch and stay through dinner.

I'll add another vote for Burger Bar. I keep trying to attach a picture of my Burger with Kobe, spinach, asparagus, pineapple, cheese and bacon (which was freaking awesome!) but got tired of trying to figure out how to not get the oversize error message.

 

I agree! Bayside is my favorite lunch/dinner buffet! Grand Lux (Palazzo) is my fav breakfast buffet.

And that's the reason I like to hit buffets for breakfast - good value on something that is hard to screw up... although I did make the mistake of going to the Fremont buffet for breakfast one day. Good thing it was after an all nighter booze binge or I wouldn't have eaten 3 bites!

 

The best burger joint on the strip.

Stay the hell away from this place. Just awful.
