I've been getting into baccarat a bit lately but have just played mini or EZ for short sessions. Next trip to Vegas I want to play midi or the big table depending on minimums at Aria or MGM.

In midi baccarat do players get to touch the cards like they do at the big table?

How long does an entire shoe take on the midi or the big table?

Is commission collected the same way, i.e. kept track of on little lammers you pay down at the end?

What are the typical weekend minimums like for midi and big table at MGM or Aria?

 

In MiDI Baccarat you do get to touch the cards. The dealer controls the shoe and passes out the cards. Mini is where the dealer deals the cards and you do not get to touch them.

ON the Big Baccarat tables. It works like MIDI where the Highest bet gets the cards unless you get them to deal it the old way were you pass the shoe and the player deals the cards but I have seen that in a while since we like to turn over the cards that are playing.


How long does a shoe take. I've played a whole shoe in 30 to 40 mins if you are fast at placing bets the dealers are faster. They want you to play as many hands as possible. I've also been at a Baccarat table where it took 4 hours to deal a shoe. People delayed making a bet. They would take a long time to turn their cards over. That is why some Casinos started to rate a Shoe as 1 hour of play as you can burn thru a shoe in 30 mins to 90 mins.

Commission is marked with Lammers and you can pay them at anytime or at the end.

Minimums are usually $100 to $300 on MIDI.

Caesars has a $100 Minimum on the Big Baccarat tables most of the time.

Shoes can can go very fast or slow, depending on who you are playing with. Most of the big guys squeeze cards slow. I do too. Make it tink.

Midi at V/P is $300, Wynn is $500, Cosmo is $300 min, Aria/Bellagio is $100 min in the HL rooms

If you play with some bosses or community table, I would recommend not betting against the table. You will get some nasty looks. If you do bet against the table, bet first.

 

KC, I assumed you had played some bac before! You will enjoy it. The midi table is much more fun than the mini table. Handling the cards makes the game feel very different (literally, lol). All the above info is dead on. You can definitely find a $100 table at Bellagio and Aria during the day. On a weekend evening, it can sometimes be harder. Lately, it seems like Aria has had more tables open on the HL area, so you may want to start there.

One extra tidbit on the commission. you can ask the dealer to take it out every hand. Otherwise, they will mark is with the lammers. If you want them to take it out every hand, make sure and ask them to do so.

 

I think it's going to vary a lot. I don't see a lot of midi around, mostly just mini and big table, and I play mostly mini although usually at least $100 a hand.

I've played $25 mini at Rio during Chinese New Year; I was the biggest bettor and they were going to deal the player cards to me, but I passed them to the guy next to me who did the squeezing, etc.

And I've played at tables where 3 different methods of commish were all being done at the same time:

• Tracked on the side and collected at the end
• Bettor paid each time on a winning banker bet
• Player has a stack of chips out specifically for the dealer to take commish each time (that's how I like to do it)

 

All HL rooms have midi. I think the only place that has the big tables on the strip is CP; I may be wrong.

You can't touch the cards in mini. You have it mixed up Chuck. Also, midi is everywhere.

 

It was a mini table. It was Chinese New Year, they were making an exception.

Unless the sole definition of the difference between mini and midi is that you can touch the cards.

 

Basically, yes, it is. The midi table is usually larger. But the big table is where you have the two dealers in the center. I think Riddick is right. CP is the only place recently I have seen that. Bellagio used to have one. But they took it away because it wasn't as popular as the midi tables (I think it was due to the lack of a board)

 

Up until a couple months ago I only played it in my mind, and even there I'd lose! I've played mini and EZ, I've wanted to sit on the bigger tables in AC but each table has either been completely full or completely empty whenever I checked.

Thanks for the all the info. If I can find it for $100 that would be great. I'm all for table camaraderie so will have no problem just betting on whatever the big bettors are playing. Unless they're losing, then it's every man for himself!

 

$100 will be no problem. Try Aria. It's not a very intimidating room and a great place to start
