    My Trip Report

Hi All. I left Houston yesterday driving the long 1500 miles to Vegas. I am with my Mom who hates to fly (honestly I am not a fan either but to get to Vegas I would fly, bike, run....well you get the picture) I am a teacher/coach and use my summers to recharge my batteries and Vegas is usually the charger of choice. Yesterday we drove to New Mexico and tonight we are in Chandler right outside of Phoenix. We made a short trip to the casino here tonight and my Mom won a bingo for $500 And I won $300 on an old fashion Wizard of Oz slot machine. I got Glenda the good witch on my second spin and had to cash out. I've learned to take the money and run. I honestly don't think I have ever been in a casino and only played 2 spins on a slot but maybe I am finally getting smart! Got to hit the sack so I can finish the drive tomorrow to Fabulous Fantastic Las Vegas!!!

    Great start!

I have driven Houston to L.V. & back multiple times. Loved it!!

The best part of your road trip is coming up -- through Wickenburg, the Joshua tree forest, Kingman, etc.

Can't wait to hear about your trip!

I used to live in Wickenburg (hate those roundabouts) and we had alot of wrecks on the 93 heading toward Kingman. I hope you were careful and made it safely to Las Vegas. The new bridge does make it faster near the dam. Have a fun time and win big!! I'll be following.

Living in Houston and knowing how big Texas is just thinking about doing a westerly road trip gives me the shakes ...this city and state has me driven out...I hate driving now lol...when I cross the border into TX from LA and see "El Paso 857 miles" I just shake my head.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!!

We made it here ! It was an easy 6 hour drive today. The new bridge across the dam is awesome! As we could see Vegas in the horizon I jammed out to "I feel lucky" and couldn't be happier. We stopped at Sunset Station and played bingo and won twice and a couple of slots. Then headed to check in at Silver Sevens. I usually like this place because its easy in and out for my Mom and they have bingo which can keep her occupied and happy while I am running around but this room is not in the tower and even though its comped..well just kinda sucky. I am going to try and switch in the morning. We are moving hotels 4 times because we are staying here over 2 weeks and I am on a teachers budget. Anyhow we had a nice night mostly played at MGM. Had fun playing the old Sigma plastic horses and a little bit of those famous Lion Dollar slots (they did not roar). Came back to SS and tried a bunch of slots...no big hits. Headed to bed...one of my friends flying in tomorrow morning. Hoping Luck will be a Lady Tomorrow1

Finishing up the Texas-to-Vegas trip ourselves this morning. Not quite as far as Houston though. Stopped in El Paso Friday night and we are closing out the drive from Phoenix today. Good luck.

Thanks so much! I am already up! Why is it so hard to sleep in Vegas? No coffee required for sure!

Don't ya just hate that "teacher budget"! i'm already saving for the end of school trip to Vegas next year. I'm certain it will be more fun with a bit more roll in the pocket.

I won't be too far behind. Leaving North Louisiana in the morning and driving thru West Texas on I-20 to I-10 and then North. I am not a fan of driving but husband does not want to fly so I will make the best of the 1544 miles. Good luck to you

Very fun day. Picked up my friend and ate my favorite breakfast at Blueberry Hill. Played Three Card Poker, bingo, and a bunch of slots. My gut instinct of a lucky day came true....nice run of cards, $500 bingo at Gold Coast, and a Wheel of Fortune machine that would not quit. Also got an In and Out burger since my buddy had never been there. Tomorrow going to ride the High Roller and go see Million Dollar Quartet. My Mom picked the show but I will let you guys know what I think tomorrow night. Anybody know of a great place to watch the US Soccer game on Tuesday?
