Nice tip to earn free buffets at MSS

I've heard about people getting discretationary buffets before...but I finally witnessed it with my own two eyes, and so I inquired...
If you earn 2000 tier credits per day, they'll give you a free buffet (without using slot points!)
You MUST go to the B-Connected desk and ask if you can get a dinner buffet, but the boothling did it (rather than getting a host involved)
So, for 4000 points, you can get a pair of dinner buffets (although Friday night seafood is 2500 per)
Just thought I'd pass the info along.

 

Thanks for the tip, had no idea the discretionary comps were so manageable. ACG also has 3 coupons for free buffets at downtown Boyd properties, good once you earn 250 points.

On a completely unrelated note, do you have contact info for the host you used at Sam's Town? Trying to get a July offer - have some really generous ones for August.

I have done it twice, sorry I didn't post it. I thought I was the last to find out. I found out from a player at the GC, its pays to be friendly and listen. If I remember its 1,000 for breakfast and lunch.

Not exactly sure who or what you exactly witnessed ... but it is NOT as easy as you make it out to be. Prior to Oct./Nov. 2013, you could go directly to the "boothlings", and they would print a buffet voucher if you had earned a specific number of tier points (but a few more than you describe).
HOWEVER ... as of last fall, the process was definitely changed, and you are now required to ask a host directly for a buffet comp, and they tend to be even more strict on the points. Last November (2013), I had earned 8500 tier points on a Saturday at MSS, and asked a host for two dinner buffets ... and got denied !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless something has now changed back, you might have misunderstood what you were witnessing ... ?????

How much coin in is 2000 points?

I always thought casino's should be more free with handing out buffet's. It cost them very little for an extra person to eat and they guarantee themselves some play. It seemed like this was their philosophy in the old days.

 

It might have something to do with who you talk to. Host wasn't able to knock off my 2 nights at sapphire rate at MSS beginning of May with 5k tier a day ($25 a night). Younger lady said she could give out buffet comps while I was waiting for host. I was ready to check out, and the host walked up that very moment, so I didn't inquire.

 

I can verify its 2000 points, because I ALSO was skeptical..so I asked "can you check and see if i can get a buffet too??"
I had only earned 3000 points ($3000 coin-in) and the boothling said "Yes, would you like one?" but i declined since the buffet was free because of the video poker tournament...
Does this same thing work at GoldCoast and Orleans?? (Keno60)?

 

I was there last month and asked a boothling about 2 free buffets. I had about 3500 points by dinner time. She called a supervisor because the host was on a break. She said it's normally 2300 points for a free buffet, but she gave me the 2 free buffets anyways. She jokingly said to just play some more that night, which I did anyways after dinner. Got another 1500 points later anyways as the night was still young.

 

My most recent experience, earlier this year, was more like Buddha's. I asked the boothling, who had to call the supervisor over. They did end up giving me the buffet. When I checked out, I had a less than $15 charge to the room for 777. I had played 6K per day, and when I asked them to cover the charge, they didn't.

Well ... I emailed my contact person at the MSS player's club, and here is the inside skinny ....
The buffet comp system is basically back to where it was a year ago, before they turned it over to "Host approval only". The Host system did not always work smoothly, so they tried a "kiosk system", somewhat similar to what the SunCoast does. HOWEVER ... MSS could not get their kiosk system to work smoothly and consistently. Sooooo .... they have indeed gone back to allowing the player's club clerks (boothlings) to issue buffet comps based on a pre-set number of tier points earned.

Breakfast buffets are about 2000 to 2500 points.
Lunch buffets are about 3000 to 3500 points
Dinner buffets (and Brunch buffets) vary between 4000 and 6000 points , depending on the type of specialty meal that day.

Hope this helps ... and your results might vary ... so don't hold my feet to the fire.

Sorry, but I never needed to ask for back-end comps, as my MSS rooms were always comped up front, and our meals were mostly "free as we went, day-by-day", either with requested comps, or ACG or LVA coupons, plus player points. We never charged anything to our room for later consideration.

My wife got a couple MSS breakfast buffets (for the morning after previous day's play) last trip from a host at the California (no problem), but we never play at the Fremont.

I went to the Booth and got a breakfast buffet for 1,000 pts. I believe it was May 27. The guy that told me
about said he would do it at the GC, but you had to go to a host I thought. I have had no luck, with the hosts there. They once told me they were comping me $259 for the 2 mid week nights, that I could have bought for $27 as a Saph. And any person could have got them for 48. But Its worth a try.

 

I inquired about this as well last Friday (4th of July) at MSS. What the boothling told me was that it was 1,000 points for breakfast buffet, 1,500 points for lunch buffet, 2,000 for dinner buffet, and around 2,500 for Friday/seafood buffet. Double those amounts and you can get two buffets. The buffets include a line pass which is nice.
