What do hosts make?

There's been a lot of talk about tipping Hosts in the past and I'm curious, what sort of compensation do they recieve from the Casino? I know they are basically commissioned based, and am curious what percentage of ADT or actual loss they get? Anybody know?

 

Every casino has a different program set for casino hosts. Depending on hourly play, amount of time and how big of a marker. I have seen hosts make as much as 10% but then you have to account for comps and so on, i will say average is 8-14%. More and more hosts that have big clients lists are leaving and doing it independently, they can make more money and take care of more clients at different properties. I work with several casinos and hosts and i can tell you that more high rollers are leaving play specific casinos for the lack of privacy.

 

I kinda hope no one provides the info... it'll spark another thread of people who'll be outraged because it's more than what they made before they retired in 1973 and how nobody should tip them if they're making that much, blah, blah, blah. I'm curious too, but the thread ALWAYS goes sideways after that.

 

I don't see why someone would get worked up over someone's salary. Especially in a business where commissions play a huge part in the salaries. If you do a good job and bring in biz then you're compensated nicely.

I'm in sales with base plus commission and other perks so I'd imagine a host is set up in a similar fashion.

I've always imagined a top Vegas host earns $150-200k.

 

Vegas actually pays less than a lot of the country for similar roles. Go figure lol

 

a HOST is a sales and marketing job so look at it this way like any car salesperson or real estate agent or widget sales person. IF he or she is good they could make millions. If they are bad they could make $2k to 3k a month and just draw a base. All depends on luck and who you have as clients to sell to.

So ask how much a HOST makes is really a general question with no real answer because it is too broad.

HOW MUCH DO INSURANCE AGENTS MAKE. i know some that make over a million in a year and some the make $13k so depends on where that person works, and how good at his job he or she is.

Only thing is we all know the Casino business is based on Tips so how much you want to tip is up to you. Like any service business you tip for good service and if they go above and beyond.

Just my 2 cents take if for what it is worth plus this is the internet and there are lots crazy people on the internet.

 

I know not all hosts make that much. My host while fairly new couldn't afford much. My tips were greatly appreciated. I'm sure there is a wide range of compensation for this job.

 

why tip is my question, if hold up my end of the deal i gamble x hours at dollars , your providing a service. if you do a job taking care of me i keep coming if i win or lose. its that there job .if i wasnt treated right for my play there are 20 other casinos that want me, so im confused.

i guess thats my point, if putting 10 or 20 k when i walk in i hold up my end.

when mgm didnt do the right thing to me i never gambled again in there

 

That's a good question. Presumably it will mean you're more likely to get the hardest stuff to find over the next guy?

 

i already get everything im supposed to or ask for , im holding up my end in fact i can eat free for life in vegas if i wanted but im trying to loose wieght, so ive cut back, but i get shows, food , what ever i ask, so im doing my part if i didnt have enough play they would say to me that thats what mgm did and i never went back becuease they where dead wrong and when they read me my numbers i knew they where wrong. thats another story.

i guess if i no played a comp or stiffed them that would be a differnt story, but they keep invinting me back and offering me stuff so im doing something right.

 

Here is the other side of that argument.

Not everybody plays at your level.

For the player that wants a little more than his level would qualify(extra tickets,invite to tournament or special events etc.) tipping may help.
If you are playing $500-$1000+ a hand it probably does not matter.

The player averaging $200 and wants a favor may get it if his host remembers him.

I'm not saying it's right but I do think it's the way it works.

This is always a controversial topic.

 

i understand thats why i was asking becuase its a confusing thing to me. i can see it from both ways .

ive never tipped but if a host needed anything from me , from my work or i can help if out i would , i turn new players on to him i think thats a plus ,a good recomendation is always nice
