Hi everyone, My husband and I are coming to Vegas for 10 nights in July, staying at The Cosmopolitan. It's our first kiddy free holiday, celebrating our 10 year anniversary. Not only is it our first trip to Vegas, it's our first time in the U.S. so yeah we're a little excited. We know it will be hot but we live in Northern Australia so quite used to heat (although we know the dry heat will be different to our humidity) We have a trip to the Grand Canyon South rim staying at Bright Angel Lodge so that 2 days and a night out of Vegas. Ww are also planning a trip to Red Rock, Valley of Fire and maybe Death Valley, not sure we want to drive that far (we are hiring a car) Any thoughts on if the drive is worth it? Although we want the full strip experience, we'd also like to see some of real America. Was thinking of a 49ers game. Our must do's also include Fremont St, Le Reve and of course gambling, drinking and soaking up the vibe! If any one has any other must do's we'd love to hear it, as we may not be back for a while! We are both pretty laid back, love live music, history (might do Mob Museum) and sport and nature! Pretty sure all our desires can be fulfilled in Vegas
Congrats on the anniversary. The 49ers won't be playing till August 17. Have you considered checking out Hoover Dam? It's neat to see and has some history behind it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoover_Dam We are trying to line up some sightseeing ourselves, see here https://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showthread.php?108104-Things-to-do&p=968383#post968383
Welcome to the board and congrats on both your 1st trip & anniversary!! Sounds like you already have a lot of good stuff planned. Just ensure you have enough free time to just explore & enjoy! Have a great trip.
Great time of your life to go to Las Vegas a first time. We did about the same and now go regularly. Make sure to get a fountain view room at Cosmopolitan. The balcony is worth it. Follow the Las Vegas for the Frugal thread to find out what other people really want to do in Vegas. You can find just about all of your interests right on the Strip. Enjoy!!
I'm a huge nerd, and hence, am a fan of both the Pinball Museum and the National Atomic Testing Museum in Vegas. And if you can see a Cirque de Soleil show, they're pretty amazing too. Have a great trip and Happy Anniversary! Santé, TL
