I've been to lots of Vegas buffets from cheapo to primo.

What do you consider the best "bang for the buck" buffet in town?

You will probably receive differing opinions on what "bang for the buck" means to each poster. Some prefer higher end environments / food & would think Caesars / Wynn / Bellagio fit the bill. While others want decent food for a good value & might suggest Orleans or MSS. For our group, the best deal is the 24 hour Buffet of Buffets - basically eat pretty good for most of 2 days of our 6 day trips. To each his own....

Sams Town buffet is surprisingly good for the price. Ditto with Gold Coast.

Silverton and Sunset Station were both pretty good when I have had their lunch buffets. I think Sunset was $6.99? Someone could back me up or correct me, but it was cheap and good.

Best bang for your buck IMHO is Mandalay Bay. I've had just about every single buffet at any major strip casino and it is really good. I can't fathom why people rank PH and Mirage so highly, to me those two aren't even in the same league as MB....then the next setp up would be Bellagio, Aria, Cosmo, Wynn, and CP

Studio B at M Resort. Wine/beer included in the price, and they always have quite a spread of pretty damn good food. Not to mention a dessert station that gives Wynn a bit of a run for it's money.

The Palms Buffet is under-rated. I also like Gold Coast for breakfast.

All of this. Palms is probably underrated, too, but M Resort has a much larger selection. Also friendly servers.

Have been seriously considering the Buffet of Buffets pass for my upcoming trip. Gotta plan it strategically, though. Lunch, super late dinner, and then brunch/lunch again the next day? That sound about right?

I've eaten at Bellagio, PH, and Excalibur. None were really fancier than the casino buffets at home (which I can get for free if I gamble for 2 hours). PH was probably the best bang for my buck, though. Got 2-for-1 on a Groupon.

You won't really get bang for your buck in Las Vegas, but if you're into Japanese food, you might want to check Makino. The quality is good, and you get a large selection of sushi, sashimi, and rolls, as well as a lot of other food you might find in a bento box.

As far as buffets on the strip go, I would say the Bellagio buffet is the best value. Its quality is worse than The Buffet at the Wynn but better than Bacchanal Buffet. It's also slightly cheaper than The Buffet and a hell of a lot cheaper than Bacchanal Buffet. While no buffet can compare to the variety at the Bacchanal Buffet, the Bellagio buffet still has a decent selection.

This is very true. Only you can declare what is of value to you. Look at the price. Then experience that buffet. Compare the variety of dishes, the freshness of the food, and the overall ambiance and service. You'll find that almost (almost, I said, lol!) all the buffets offer value, from the cheapest to the most expensive. Because they all offer many dishes that if you were to have one of them at a restaurant, it would cost close to the price of the buffet alone.:beer:

I partially agree with your suggestion of the 24 hour B of B. The exception is providing you do not use this pass for the Bachanal buffet at Caesars because they charge an additional $30 for dinner, $25 for lunch, $15 for breakfast. Adding these upcharges to the $50 cost of the B of B is way too much IMO otherwise it really is a great bang for your buck.

My strategy for that is going to hit an 8pm dinner to start, then my hotel (harrah's for an early breakfast), lunch around 2 then in line by 7 for the 2nd dinner.

Brunch at Wicked Spoons is very affordable considering it's at the Cosmo. The dinner is down right pricey unless you're on a comp.

My vote for best buffet for the price is the Orleans.

I've become a fan of Mandalay's the last couple trips. The dinner buffet is a little over $30 but includes unlimited beer, wine, and champagne. They have a good selection (seafood included) plus you get get your buzz on (or most likely maintain it). Have 3 or 4 drinks and you've covered the cost.

We always start with dinner after 7:30-8pm / early breakfast / snack - very lite for late lunch & end with dinner just before 7:30. The only meal we don't eat lite is our 1st nite's dinner as it is usually our arrival day & we are usually starved from traveling. We don't over-eat just because we are at a buffet & the B of B allows us to do this without wasting a lot of $$.
