We're staying at Mandalay Bay in mid-July for three nights, comped by MyVegas. I've already gotten an upgrade offer to stay at THEHotel. I've heard that THEHotel is incredibly luxurious, and I've read about a lot of MyVegas players getting upgraded to THEHotel. But my question is, do we really want to stay at THEHotel?

We do like a luxurious room, but what is most important to us is (a) a high floor with a view of the strip, and (b) easy access to the MB pool. It looks to me like THEHotel is quite a ways from the pool.

A huge bonus for us would be a big jacuzzi bathtub. We got a free upgrade to a room with a jacuzzi at Caesars a few years ago and it was wonderful.

While of course we'd love a free upgrade, we might be willing to pay a little extra to get what we want.

Any insight/suggestions? Is THEHotel worth it, or should we just try for a fabulous room at MB?

THEhotel is really nice and a huge step up from MB when comparing similar room types. However, you'll want to consider the construction currently taking place at THEhotel when making this decision.

If you want an awesome strip view, stick with Mandalay Bay. Much of THEhotel's views are blocked by the Luxor.

I personally didn't like THE Hotel because it was such a long walk to everywhere. I had just a regular room because I needed 2 beds. The room was nice but I wouldn't say it was worlds better than Mandalay.

If you want a jacuzzi tub then ask for a Great Room when you check in. Wheny ex-wife and I would stay there I would get that room for her because of the tub.

We really like THEhotel, but won't be staying there again until after the Delano construction is over. If strip views and a short walk to the (very crowded, get there early) pool are important, stick with MB. We liked THEHotel because it is so far from the action.

The ongoing construction at THE hotel is horrible! Like everyone else said the walk sucks too.

Hey, total newb to the board here, but just a couple of questions that seem related to this thread:

I just booked two nights at MB using myvegas for mid-July and am curious about upgrade offers. Is this likely based off your mlife account, or is it fairly common? Was it an offer when booking or via email?

I was hoping to try for an upgrade to THEhotel at check-in as I am pretty interested in a luxurious room and don't mind being out of the way from all the action. If people are staying away and others are getting offers I think my chances could be good, but how bad is this construction for Delano? Just noisy? In the way? Maybe I don't want the upgrade I thought I did....

Also, I only got verbal confirmation numbers over the phone for these bookings from myvegas, is it a good idea to confirm these with MB? Thanks for any input!

Before construction, THEhotel was really nice in my opinion. I didn't think the walk was bad, and it dropped me off right near my favorite part of the casino and right next to the Mandalay Shoppes. I enjoyed it so much because of the classy ambiance and the impeccable service. With all of the construction, the lobby area is in a bit of disarray. For me, this would be enough to keep me from staying there. I'm staying at Mandalay in a few weeks, but before I try for an upgrade, I'm gonna swing by the lobby area of THEhotel to see what's going on.

THEhotel was a nice place. Bit dated in room layout, but I dug it. The transformation into the Delano that's ongoing would make me leery of construction noise. MB is probably just the ticket for your trip right now.

I agree with the construction comments.

As to the WALK - I am missing something. From the elevators to the casino floor is less than a minute. Really.

Okay - to the pool is a bit more. And maybe to the restaurants it is a bit more.

Agreed on all points and if you cut through the parking garage it is actually a shorter walk to many of the better restaurants in MB than it is from MBs rooms.

Can't speak to the construction but we've stayed at THE Hotel 3 times -mlife comp'd each time.
A beautifully appointed suite with large living room and bar; separate bedroom with large bath WITH Jacuzzi and walk in shower plus a half bath off the entry - great for 2 people trying to groom at the same time..
From ground floor elevator to casino floor is 90 seconds.
Pool is a good distance away if that is the most important criteria and views are ok.
You could always call and ask about the noise level for the time frame you will be staying - they are very forthcoming with info..
Hope you have a great trip wherever you stay!

I typically only play baccarat so it's a much shorter walk from the MB rooms.

TheHotel rooms are nicer and bigger. The walk is a bit further tho.

I stayed at TheHotel right at the beginning of the construction and I will stay at MB until it is done. Too much construction noise. I agree it needed updated, and am looking forward to the Delano being completed.
