    My Trip Report

We wanted to make one more trip to Harrah’s Tunica before it closed and we are sure glad we did. Here’s the Reader’s Digest version with a little VP porn for good measure.

    Day 1
My son and his girl friend (I&E) drove in arriving before we arrived at 8PM Quick check in and to the casino to meet I&E, play a little and use up free play. Most of the play was in the hi-limit area and Sphere bar. We were after 1000 points each and it sure costs us. I did hit this quad and my wife got a wild royal.

    Day 2

Unique Travel picked up us at 9 AM and dropped us at Beale Street in Memphis for a little tourist relaxing time before stuffing ourselves with ribs and beer at Rendezvous. Sorry no pictures.

First stop at Harrah’s was to get a marker. Had some cash in the room but didn’t want to go up. The rest of the group went to the room before meeting in the hi-limit area. Playing $10 DDB, I hit this shortly after sitting down on the same machine I hit on last night. By the time I was paid, the crew was back and ready to play.

Moving to another machine, the crew was sitting around helping me play $5 DDB while we enjoyed awesome cigars my son brought. Shortly after sitting down, we threw away all the cards and got a royal on the re deal. Imagine our surprise, hitting a $5 royal on a throwaway hand. The screen was very dim but I'll take it. The rest of the night was downhill. We continued playing hi limit area and then the Sphere bar, Miss Stud with no success. I did hit 2500 points but at a very high price.

    Day 3

Start with a 10AM free buffet which was good, but nothing special. I&E decided they would leave on Sunday to avoid the holiday traffic but were way too tired to drive. I&E went back for a pre drive nap while we when to Horseshoe to use up more free play.

My wife wanted to play $5 WOF in the hi-limit so I sat beside her and quickly dumped $300 on a Top Dollar machine. There are three VP machines to the right so I encouraged her to keep playing while I moved to the last one and played some $5 DDB. I played for quite some time, keeping even while I gathered points. Finally the credits started dropping and on the last hand, dealt 3 to a royal and BOOM……..hit the second royal in less than 12 hours. Back to see I&E off and play a bit before dinner at 37 Steakhouse. Another lucky dim machine.

Playing before dinner was quite successful as I hit quad 6s, Aces and 8s on $5 DDB.

I&E decided to stay and join us for a great meal at 37 Steakhouse and leave early the next morning. We had great steaks, crabs, lobster, sides and wine and enjoyed it immensely. Here's an enjoyable wine we had. So sorry to see 37 Steakhouse close its doors. After dinner we said good bye to I&E who left at 5AM the next morning.

Ok, back to the gambling. A quick stop by the Diamond lounge for an after dinner toddy and we were ready to attack the rest of those 2500 points. Play was brutal for the next several hours dropping a lot of credits on $5 DDB and $1 Aces poker. Finally hit a final quad and my points for the day so called it a night.

    Day 4
The rest of our time was spent playing VP and waiting for the airport shuttle at 3PM.

    Summary
Great trip but bittersweet knowing they were closing and many of the staff had been there 15 plus years. Some will move over to the Horseshoe but most will not. Charter was great, room clean and bed comfy, 37 Steakhouse was excellent and the gambling was over the top. We won a lot of money but we played extremely heavy giving a lot of it back. My son said it was his best trip ever and I have to agree.

Nice hit on that royal. You're right that screen looks ancient.

    Congrats on the win...
But man, I almost thought your machine said "Mexican", then I looked closer and saw "Meixian"

I can't see the day three attachments. Is it just me?

The redraw was almost sequential too...wow. Those old holdover units wanted to spew out some money I guess.

Man, that sure was a great trip... a perfect pregame to Vegas. I wasn't able to see the pics using the links in Day 3 or 4 either. Unfortunately I wasn't witness to your second one, but the first royal on the redraw was unbelievable... what are the odds of that happening!? Congrats on the big hits, and thanks for the great meal at 37 steakhouse... best I've had in a while. Oh, and if anyone is curious about the cigars: Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva & Rocky Patel 1999 Vintage.

Working now thanks. And aces twice, once while holding one? Crazy hits!

And I guess Horseshoe had a few old units left too? I didn't really notice because the Shoe's games weren't very good before the VP overhaul. Some of the worst paytables in town. Still can obviously spit out some gems though.

Great VP Porn......I have yet to get a royal on the redraw! How sweet and surprising is that hit? Thanks for the trip report and I wish you many more royals.

Thanks this is the first Royal on a throwaway for me. I've been dealt Royals but never on a throwaway hand. Total surprise because you had crap and now you have a gem.

Great hits! Two 20K Royals not bad. Minus 3% I guess for Miss.

Yes 3% and a tip of course. Not a % tip but still gave out a couple $100. Probably the excitement and Grey Goose did it.

I didn't really like the layout of this place relative to the hotel itself. With that said I did enjoy my time in the bar area. Hopefully something else rises from the ashes but I do think Tunica needs to shrink a bit. My favorite location now is the 'strip' of Gold Strike, Horseshoe, Roadhouse.

Yes we like the Horseshoe and Roadhouse but never walked over to the Gold Strike. We always stayed at Harrahs so by the time we shuttled over and went through those two we were ready to get back. Look forward to a trip staying in that area and trying the Gold Strike.
